I've been lifting everyday since about Christmas. Been splitting oak 2 or 3 times a week with an 8lbs maul for the last month and thursday I'm going to check out a combat jujitsu class. Training has been fun lately, gotta mix it up with some fight training. feeling muscle bound.

AB I'd love to but timing is everything. Currently training Saturday mornings from 8am to 11am and I volenteer at church Tuesday nights till May. Do they offer other times for training? How much does it cost? My Saturday morning training should be done by Easter.

Wow...still have a ways to go, but it's amazing how a body responds after just 4 days in a row....feel sore, but not injured, and the first thing I noticed is a definite improvement in posture...not doing anything major - pull ups, dips, push ups and sit ups, some leg presses and curls, and half an hour of cardio...ran my pulse up to 135 bpm for half an hour and it didn't kill me

Man...running sure sucks...took me a week to get to a point where I can run for two miles without having to stop and walk...now need to shorten up on the time it takes to do it in, which is like, over twenty minutes still...other than that, I'm crankin' out the pushups, pull ups. dips, and situps and feeling pretty good about the progress being made...

I challenge anyone to a two mile race...well, except Swiftjeff, maybe...and maybe Ampatriot, too...and maybe anyone younger than me, which includes everyone else...however, in just two weeks I've pretty much morphed back into my former athletic self...still need to knock a minute and twelve seconds off of my two mile time to be in line with Army APFT standards for my age, though, so I'm not really there yet....

Careful, running does not always work the same areas as one might need. Hows the back?

Back is doing great...zero pain these days...might just have been that all my stuff was sitting wrong on me...my mess kit and food bag sticking out a foot behind my pack had me way off balance...abdominal muscles being out of tone can cause back pain, too, and I've managed to tighten everything up...I dunno, I'm feeling pettty good...

Now we just have to somehow help you see the need get your gear up to Army standards ;-)

MilSpec, quiet, and "High-n-Tight"

THEN... you might just "blow us away" as stated in your AAR ;-)

Ya getting a new pack and loosing your cooking equipment would help your back. I have upper back issues so getting the molle ruck realy helped me. My brother just picked one up in new condition on ebay for $70 complete.

A milestone...ran two miles in 18:42, which puts me at a passing AFPT standard by 48 seconds...I'll be able to get that down to around 14 minutes in a few weeks...cranked out 55 pushups without stopping yesterday...tomorrow I'm going for a walk in the Minnesota Riverbottoms in Blomington with my pack...will be a whole lot easier than the last FTX though...no snow, and a flat trail....gonna hoof it quickly, though....

You seem not willing to loose the heavey gear, but as long a I dont have to carry it its not my deal. Being the Libertarian that I am, go for it.

It's not a question of willingness...I will happily accept your gift of a set of Molle Gear and a Rifleman's Ruck if you feel so generous as to go and get one for me...my birthday is next week...in the meanwhile, I'll make due with what I have...I actually have a much better pack Gregory Backpack but haven't used it yet, listed for 249.00...the one I've been using is not well suited for a three day setup and I've been having to attach everything to it instead of just putting it inside...the new one ought to be a huge improvement...

I was talking about the stove, pan, table and such as was adding unneccissary weight. We will start a fire or you can use my stove. They do sell those esbit stoves for a couple dollars. I am just trying to help you cut weight because I have a back problem also and do not like seeing you struggle with a bunch of stuff you dont need. If you can replace five pounds of gear for a three dollar stove and a canteen cup, why not?
