[[Della Jane continued from Miasma]] So I'm gonna be stuck here for awhile. Della had been here for two days. She'd missed work twice, and a practice session with her band. They'd look for her, right? Sure, Della missed a few days at work, but at least called in sick. And neither Hell or high fevers could keep her from practice (as one fainting spell proved. That was a great trip to the hospital). Della needed a drink, so she came to the bar she saw the first day. The Last Call, huh? As ominous as God Have Mercy I guess. Walking in she made a short note of the door being on the floor, but shrugged it off and just walked over it. On this street all the shit was wrecked. Going further Della saw a wide selection of booze and smiled. This is what I'm talking about! Agonizing about being found wasn't gonna help her in the least, unless a search party found where ever this was, and if they did they had a whole new set of problems. Setting her guitar case on a stool she went behind the bar. Della ignored the stain on the ground, and kept her eyes on the wide selection of liquor, whiskey, vodka, and other poison. She grabbed a bottle of Bud Light and went to a stool in front of the bar where her guitar was. After opening the bottle, and the corresponding hiss of the carbonation she took a long drink. The taste hardly registered as she took her long gulps, only breaking from the bottle to breath. Setting it down on the next stool Della had the guitar case go up there, it was past due she'd take a look at it. When she began unlatching it she half fear that it'd be empty, it felt heavy enough lugging it around the past two day, but it the fear wouldn't leave her. Taking a deep breath she opened it to find her baby there. Thank God. After swigging another cheekful of beer lifted her guitar out of the case, the money from yesterday still there, and inspected it. It seemed there wasn't any damage, which was great. Since she wasn't likely to find a store to fix any of that. Playing a few notes it didn't seem to be very out of tune, than again the temperature here was similar to what it was at home so yeah. After some fiddling (Della had no idea how long it took, maybe an hour or two) it was in tune. Taking a breath of accomplishment she set the guitar back in the case, which she relieved of the $11 dollars, and drank the last of the beer. Slightly buzzed she wondered what to do with it. Normally she could hold her booze, but she didn't eat enough during these past two days so it got into her head faster. Leaving it on the bar was boring, and adding to the mess seemed as much. Than she saw the bear head mounted over the bar, and she smiled. "You look a little hungary, dude." After the guitar was safe in it's case she set it to lean against the next stool. Della climbed onto to bar counter, swishing from the booze in her stomach, and looked closer at the mount. It looked kind of like the bears on the nature shows, but off. Than again she wasn't a bear-ologist so fuck it. She stuck the bottle sideways in its mouth, with the two long teeth on the bottom holding it there. Della than reached for another random bottle while on the counter, opened it, and admired her work. |

((Elliot Emerson continued from White Noise)) It had been a long couple of days, but Elliot couldn't say he regretted them. Sure, bad things happened and this place was beginning to seem...well, creepy. There were things he couldn't place, foot tracks on the street that looked all wrong and foreign noises in the night. And this building. I mean, look at that sign. Last Call? Who names a bar that? Were they trying to get customers to stay away? All in all, however, Elliot hadn't had a day to himself in years. Maybe these were the first he'd ever taken; he couldn't really remember having free time. It was a little boring, yes, but also quite relaxing. He could forget about the worrying things and the pain and just...exist. I was nice. He'd left his post at the street for a little bit. Elliot didn't think another person would show up for a while, and it seemed like he had been the only one who wasn't transported here in tip-top shape. That was another weird thing that he didn't spend time thinking about. Why bother? Elliot was here now, and had to make the best of things. All that might change, but for now... The door to the bar was open, so Elliot walked inside. He wasn't a big fan of alcohol, so he was pretty much a stranger to taverns. However, he figured he should take a look at some of the buildings that were open. They might be important to...something. Plus, this building didn't seem to contain anyone Elliot recognized, which was nice. He wasn't sure what he would say to them if they met. It was better just to avoid the awkwardness on his part. Elliot walked in, looking around. It appeared to be a bar. Surprising. There was a woman here, but he hadn't seen her before. Well, that was good. "Hello!" Elliot greeted the new person, taking a seat on a stool. "How's the last few days been treating you?" About a second after this, he noticed the bear. The bear appeared to be attempting to drink something. And then, before he knew it, Elliot laughed into his hand. It was just a little, but still. He hadn't laughed in months, maybe years. She was caught off guard as the other guy walked in. He greeted Della, and sat on one of the stools. She smiled as she sat on the counter, placing the bottle next to her. With her hands free she put them behind her and leaned on them saying, "I've been alright, I guess." She shrugged. "What about you?" Than he started laughing. At first she was confused, but when she looked in the same direction he was she remembered the mounted bear head. "Yeah, he looked thirsty up there. So I figured I should help a bro out." Kicking her legs slowly she looked at the new guy. He didn't look too hot. How many people are here, anyway? After a few moments the thought was killed by, Actually, fuck it. Offering the bottle she said, "By the way, I'm Della Jane. Nice to meet you." |

"It...It has been a good experience." Elliot finally concluded. "The food here is rather odd, however." He had never seen some of it before. Still, if he could eat it, it was good. It wasn't like Elliot had ever been picky, but this was a whole new level. If he saw whatever animal was making those weird tracks, he'd probably eat it. He didn't know what a 'bro' was (he assumed something to do with 'brother', but wasn't sure what), so Elliot just ignored the word. He wondered if this woman knew that everyone was from a different time and place. If not, he'd probably tell her. She seemed pretty relaxed about the whole thing. She introduced herself as Della Jane. Della sounded American of some sort, and judging by her clothes, she wasn't from 1941. "Hello. I'm Elliot Emerson. It's a pleasure to meet you." He took the bottle and gulped some down. It tasted funny and stung a bit, he he wasn't going to complain. Elliot hadn't ever liked alcohol, but here was a good place to try something new. He was going to ask Della where she was from, but that sounded too awkward. Instead, he pointed at the bear. "Wonder how he ended up here." |

Shrugging, Della said, "I dunno, maybe some hick shot him?" It happened a lot up north, those idiots would shoot anything that looked hairy enough: deer, rabbits, wolves, and bears. Looking up at it she wondered if it was a mother bear just protecting it's young, or just another bear minding it's own business when someone decided they needed something to decorate a bar. "Or, he's just staying very still. Waiting for the perfect opportunity to get us." Della said, chuckling a little afterwards. Holding out her hand for a while Elliot gave her back the bottle, and she took another drink from it. Normally she wasn't this friendly, but she was drunk and Elliot seemed nice enough. "It's nice to meet ya, Elliot. Where are you from?" |

"Huh. I wonder if this p-place has bears or if he got transported here like us." Elliot frowned at the bear slightly, in thought. "I don't know why'd whoever did this would bring a bear, though..." Oh, the mysteries never cease, do they? "Yes. He's probably afraid we'll drink all the alcohol." Elliot tried to keep a straight face. "As soon as we leave, he is going to get absolutely plastered." He took another drink and handed the bottle back to Della. "Kent, in southern England. You?" He blinked. "Ah! Wait." Elliot had a small bag in which he carried most of the items he found. He pulled out the generic-brand biscuits from the store. "Would you like a biscuit?" |

Della was about to reply, but Elliot offered her a biscuit. Since she hadn't eaten yesterday Della gladly accepted, giving a short "Yeah, thanks." before eating it. After she finished it Della said, "I'm from Minneapolis." Looking at the bear she said, "I wonder what his favorite drink is. He looks like a scotch guy, don't you think?" After that she laughed a little. I wonder if there's a top hat I could put on him somewhere? Pulling the pack of Pall Malls she turned to Elliot and said, "You smoke?" She said, offering Elliot a cigarette. |

(Kai "Skinny" Bonham continued from Road To Nowhere) Kai was bored, nothing had happend since he had arrived on the street and all he'd done was wonder around the same gray alleyways finding nothing of use. That wasn't entirely true though, he had met three people and they had all split up. Kai had used the time alone to reflect on what could possibly happen to him while he was stuck on the street. Death had entered his mind a few times but he had brushed the thoughts away, they were depressing and he was going to make sure he was surviving. It was like his first MMA fight, he knew he was going to win he just didn't know how, but when the time came he had landed a beautiful flying knee sandwiching his opponents head between him and the cage. The guy was unconcious before he hit the floor. To make it even better Kai had landed on his feet in a perfect victory pose. He smiled to himself at the memory of it. He wasn't going to waste time thinking about what he could have done. The bar was where he had decided to go, he thought a drink would help him pass the time. He could reflect on the good things he'd done. Maybe let him meet some of the others that were on the street. As he entered the bar he could hear talking sounded like one man and one women. Time to meet new people. He didn't want to burst in, just in case they had a gun or something. Dying like that wouldn't be fullfilling at all. He casually stepped into the bar and greeted the two people. "Hey, how are you two?" |

Elliot didn't know where Minneapolis was, but that didn't seem to be a problem. It was probably a quiet place in his time, Minneapolis. He wondered if the war ever came to it, if Della's parents or grandparents grew up with bombs and death. He hoped not, hoped the war just ended in 1941 and everything went back to normal. If he wanted to know the truth, he could ask somebody. But right now, Elliot could be contented with uncertainty and the lies he told himself. "I can see that. Scotch. Either that or vodka, I'd say." Elliot wasn't accustomed to drinking, but this wasn't so bad. Maybe he didn't mind bars after all. He took the cigarette. "Yes, thank you." It looked different then what he was used to, but it was still clearly a cigarette. Somebody else entered the building, and Elliot turned to great him. He didn't recognize the young man, and his clothes were a tad strange. "Hello." He answered politely. "I'm doing q-quite well, thank you. And yourself?" Edited by Tagabasa, Oct 19 2011, 12:51 PM.

"Ah, I can see him holding his vodka well." Lighting her own cigarette Della watched the new guy walked in and greet them. As Elliot answered she nodded along with him, "I'm cool as well." She followed with, handing the lighter to Elliot. Taking some of it's life into her lungs the cigarette's end glowed in embers. "Just having a good time." Della said, quieter, before taking another drink. She barely paid attention to the taste of the drink. Fuck, I'm not going to make this depressing. "Wanna join the three of us?" Della offered, her hand motioned to herself, Elliot, and the bear. |

"I'm doing good, and sure. Although I think the bear has had enough. It looks shaky." Kai dropped his bag onto the floor and pulled up a stool. His bare feet finding the wood of the stool a much comfier resting place than the hard floors they had been standing on up until now. He lent onto the bar. Neither of the other occupants looked particularly great. The man looked like he'd seen much better days; he had cuts and bruises all over. The woman on the other hand looked pale. Not that they had any reason not to be considering the circumstances. Unlike his last meeting with people he decided to tell them what his name was. "I'm Kai; most people call me Skinny though. I used to fight people for a living. Which explains why I'm really damn cold right now." Why'd I have to get taken straight after a training session. "So what are you're stories?" "He could hold his anything well. Good thing, too. I wouldn't want to see that beastie hurling towards me." The new guy introduced himself, as Della lit his cigarette. Elliot decided that he wanted to find one of those lighters. It could be useful later, especially when it got dark. The man introduced himself as Kai, which was an odd name. That, with his clothing, probably made him another one from beyond 1941. For a second, Elliot wondered if he was the one from the furthest back. That would be...weird. He didn't know how he felt about it. "Come in and warm up, then. As long as you leave our companion here alone." He pointed the the bear. "You'll be good." Elliot glanced at Kai. "Looks like you didn't find any good shoes either." He made been looking for them, but was only able to find little white ones for girls. Kai asked him his story, which seemed to be a quite open question. How was he supposed to answer that, anyway? Elliot looked down at his feet. "War, you know. I did something one side d-didn't like, and next thing I knew, I w-was here." |

Shit, I didn't expect that. Della thought, eyebrows raised in submission of surprise. Elliot didn't seem like the kind of guy to be involved in a war, but desperate times and all that. What war is it anyways? Shit, I need to keep up with the world more. "I'm Della Jane, and I was just walking home. Opened the door to my apartment, and here I was." She shrugged before adding, "Not as interesting as Elliot's story, but it is what it is." She looked behind herself, not sure why she she did, but her eyes landed on the jukebox. "Hey, how about some music?" Della asked, walking to the jukebox without waiting for an answer. Looking at the selections she blow out an exasperated breath. No much to work with, is there? And then her eyes landed on one of her favorite songs, Spirit in the Night, Bruce Springsteen. Sliding a quarter into the machine, without checking to see when if it was turned on, Della pressed the button. |

Kai dimly recognised the song but he couldn't put a name to it. Not that he cared too much. "I had just finished a training session, kinda why I'm only in shorts and a t-shirt, although these are really nice shorts." He smiled mostly to himself since the shorts were a gift for winning his first fight. "Wonder how that's still working." He said tilting his head towards the jukebox. "Rest of the place seems to be wrecked." He decided to check what other songs the jukebox had; see if he recognised any of them. When he looked at it however he was surprised. That can't be right. He turned to face Della. "You know this is off don't you?" But it was playing the song, that couldn't be possible. Kai had always known this was a weird situation, but this defied the way electricity worked. "This is probably a bad sign." |

"I would not object to music." Elliot offered. He was curious to see what kinds of music they had in this place. It probably wasn't the same as home. Also, what was that weird machine that Della was messing with? Oh. Oh, it played music. That was interesting; he had never seen something that looked like that before. Elliot decided to join Kai and Della in looking at it. Elliot hadn't really noticed how the thing worked, so he had not noticed that it wasn't turned on. It was strange, though. Another thing in this place that just didn't fit. If he could find all of them, all of the out of place pieces, would that tell him anything? "That is odd." He glanced at the song Della picked. Elliot had never heard of it before (probably not from his time), but the name chilled him. Spirit in the Night, Bruce Springsteen. Spirit in the night? He remembered the weird noises, the howling, the strange prints. It was a coincidence, right? Della probably just liked the song. It was a good song. He liked it too. It had nothing to do with whatever forces were at work here, right? Elliot took another drag of the cigarette. "There have been a lot of bad signs around here lately."
