Skip to 0:24 of the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqMKRSTHFzc So, yeah. Apparently a live action movie of Avatar: The Last Airbender is being made. Directed by some guy named, "M. Night Shyamalan. Honestly, I never watched the TV series fully, but I've watched enough to understand the plot and what happens in the end etc. Seeing as how *well Dragonball Evolution went, how do you think this movie will fair? XDD * = *shudder* Edited by Eka, Jun 22 2009, 04:58 AM.

Y-you don't know who M. Night Shamalan is?! O_o He's probably one of the few directors who can do this trilogy justice... I actually think these three movies have promise. |

*searches up* Ok then, well I've heard of a number of films he's been involved in, but only seen one of them: The Sixth Sense. ^^;; Everything else I can't really vouch for. I don't know. The good thing is that the Avatar series isn't 100% fantasy and unrealistic in a few senses, so maybe the movie will be good. I just hope it'll set a good example for anyone who wants to make a live action movie of an anime series (*cough* next 2 Dragonball movies *cough*) |

*Cough* Blood: The Last Vampire (*Pissed*), Ghost In The Shell (Spielburg and Dreamworks better keep it R-rated, Keep it Japanese, keep the story down the right path, and get the casting correct or HEADS. WILL. ROLL), Cowboy Bebop (If Keanu Reeves really gets the part, I think I'm going to buy my first shotgun and take my first road trip on my own.) , Akira *Cough* Edited by Gwen, Jun 22 2009, 05:13 AM.

Yeaaaaaaaaah... I heard that the last movie the guy directed was terrible. But I do actually have hopes for this one; the guy from Slumdog Millionaire is in it. : D |

Honestly, I think Avatar: The Last Airbender movie would be a different case. First off, it's an American cartoon that's being made into an American movie by an American director instead of an American adaptation of a Japanese anime directed by a Chinese director, that was Dragonball Evolution. Second, it's M. Nigh Shyamalan. He doesn't always make the best of movies, his last few films weren't very good, but they were still enjoyable. I mean, look at what Spielberg did with Transformer. The CGs in that movie blew everyone's mind all over the theater. Maybe it will be the same with this one. Of course, there's also the "other" avatar movie, the one directed by James Cameron. Except it was Michael Bay who really demanded all the splosions and CG... Anyway, I've known about this for about a year now and haven't heard anything new since. |

Well, Ghost in the Shell heavily influenced the Matrix trilogy so I guess they can always look to the Matrix for influence in making the Ghost in the Shell movie. |

the Matrix is badass..... But no. Fuck that. Ghost In the Shell is an easy movie to make if you fucking follow it correctly. USE the terms, USE the characters, USE the themes. IT ISN'T HARD. ALL YOU HAVE TO REALLY WORRY ABOUT IS THE SCRIPT, CASTING, AND EFFECTS. Frickin a. Just make another Puppet(eer/master) movie, or do something like the Laughing Man arc in a shorter span. |

From the trailer, the movie looks pretty good. Guess this affirms it, Americans are better at making live-action movies adaptation of stuff made by Americans but totally suck when it's made by somebody else. |
