Bai Hu [planet]Albion[/planet] Capital: Gia Moon: Avalon Cortex: As close to Earth-That-Was as possible, that's sort of Albion's motto. The creators didn't have much to go on - after all they'd spent their life in a space ship - but they tried to recreate the same world they saw in their great-grandparents photos and videos, and what they ended up with is a good impression or imitation, but not exactly right. [planet]Ariel[/planet] Capital: Ariel City Spaceports or Docks: Matheson Docks, Piper Docks, Mandellia Docks, UAP Transport Hub Major Cities/Towns: Bridgesbain, Codithian, Gohin, Gorehaven, Gossamer, Guerenstradt, North Hauer, South Hauer, Nabokov Heights, Nikita, Placidus Caelum, Silver Fern, Tolli Basin, Trident, West Firebrand Moons: Ariopolis, Shiva, Poseidon, Fissatore (station) Terraforming Ended: 2266, 99.8% success Mass: 6.323 x 10^21 tonnes Mean Diameter: 13,016 km Atmosphere: N2/O2/CO2/H2O Population: 3.61 billion Cortex: Ariel is widely known for its technical and cultural contributions to citizens of the UAP. More winners of the Alliance Medal, of Societal Advancement come from Ariel than any other world. One of the planet's most notable institutions is its excellent network of hospitals, medical schools and research facilities. he breakthroughs achieved through this network have led to dramatic increases in health care and disease prevention throughout the Core and Border worlds, and have made practical, compact medical equipment more widespread among Rim planets. Ariel's public and private institutions have a strong tradition of supporting the arts, with some of the most famous musicians, artists, craftsmen, chefs and writers making their homes there. Ariel is the only Core world with no long-term penal facilities. Prisoners are transported off-world through contracts with the Trader's Guild. Like the rest of the Core worlds, Ariel is a paradise of technology. Tall buildings constructed of gleaming glass and steel reach into the sky. Holographic billboards advertise all manner of wonders. The night is filled with light. The sday with hustle and bustle of business. Ariel is known among the central planets for its excellent medial facilities. The technology in Ariel's hospitals is the very latests, featuring such fancifications as holographic scanners and lots of machines that you gotta shout 'clear' to use. The restaurants on Ariel are so good that folk travel here from other worlds just to have dinner. All the famous chefs come from Ariel or go to Ariel to open their own restaurants. It is said that even the hot dog vendors on Ariel are gourmet. As with most planets in the Core, Ariel is a restricted landing zone. Only those with legitimate business are allowed to land. Restricted Approach: Dual commerce permits are required (TG Freight and UAP) for most of Ariel commercial trade. [planet]Bellerophon[/planet] Capital: None Moons: Parth, Tyrins, Xanthus Cortex: Bellerphon is a world in it's own right, sure, but it's hardly anything you'd visit. An escape for the wealthy not wishing to have neighbors, each estate in Bellerophon hovers above the planet's pristine ocean. Only people here are the wealthy and the people they get to work for them. [blockquote][planet]Parth[/planet] Capital: Nara Cortex: Not every world under the white sun is so perfect. Parth is pretty far out from the center, but that doesn't matter. There is no excuse for having such a large slave trade on a planet suppose to be under the direct watch of the Alliance. The problem is with all of Parth's huge cities, giant buildings shadowing the streets, it's hard to keep up with everything that happens there. [planet]Bernadette[/planet] Capital: Ausparis Moons: Nautilus, Spinrad Cortex: Known to be a fine stop for those off to the border worlds, the ship docks are full of shops and slave traders, sometimes it's hard to tell which you're talking to. Of course, then there are places like Ausparis with the Prometheus rising up in her sky line - a symbol of the flight to these new worlds, the achievement of the human mind. It is the only surviving ship from the exodus of Earth and dwarfs the rest of the city in her shadow. The city itself is so filled with so many restaurants, theaters, and museums one would hardly believe it shared the same air with the settlers down at the docks. [planet]Gonghe[/planet] Capital: Ni-Tokyo Moon: Xing Yu Cortex: Sihnon is often considered the central planet to visit for a more eastern cultural experience but in truth, just because Gonghe isn't quite as nice does not mean they not worth the visit. With less regulations than Sihnon, Gonghe attracts a different sort of person, perhaps, but they're still a core planet for all their less than reputable business dealings, and still just as stunning a world. Far more urban and modern than the beautifully elegant world of Sihnon, Gonghe is filled with flashing lights and buildings that stretch into the sky so far that they can say you can nearly see Earth-That-Was from their peaks. Life here is frenzied but for those who can keep up well worth the fast pace. [planet]Liann Juin[/planet] Capital: Kilgore Moons: Tiantan, Fu Cortex: Perhaps not as active as it's other core worlds, don't count Liann Juin out entirely. It is still quite the place to visit, better yet to stay. Thriving from the business of those just on their way off or to some of the more well known core worlds, Liann Juin stays alive with business dealings and their own version of fun at night. It also houses one of the finest flight schools in the 'verse, though being a student there is made all the rougher when in such close proximity of one of the best pleasure centers this side of... anywhere, really. Cortex: As the first viable candidate for terraforming, Londinium represented a great hope for human civilization. As the seat of Parliament, Londinium continues to be an anchor for human civilization today. Londinium is the single largest consumer of manufactured goods and foodstuffs in Allied space. It is also one of the largest producers of certain goods, including Cortex hardware and advanced electronics. Traffic to and from the planet is heavily regulated. Most trade and civilian vessels cannot approach large population centers without proper clearance from Orbital Security, Global Airspace Control and local administrators. Military vessels operate under a separate mandate and, although also regulated, move with relative freedom throughout Londinium's air space. Special dispensation is also granted for governmental, diplomatic, and some Blue Sun vessels. As with other major worlds, Londinium occasionally cordons off small blackout zones where illegal activity has suddenly escalated or it's suspected there may be a large criminal element. Londinium was founded on a strong western front, reflected in it's Gothic architecture meant to replicate that of the old city of London. It is home to the strong force of the Allied government, with the house of parliament sitting in Roma, along with many of the ministry buildings. Although popular with tourist (not only for her architecture, also for her Museum of History and Art and her Earth-That-Was replication theaters - Londinium may not be the center of culture the way Sihnon is, but she has plenty of interest) Londinium is largely a No Fly zone and any ship too close to government areas will be shot down without warning. It is patrolled by the I.A.V. Victoria - a space station that keeps in orbit around Londinium at all times. The primary exceptions are areas in the Corporate Sector (largely Blue Sun) where no-fly rules are strictly enforced. Cortex: "Law begins at Osiris", or so the saying goes. Osiris is the home of the Alliance's legislative and judicial branches, where parliamentary law is debated and interpreted. The most influential law firms and universities are located here, and many of Parliament's most powerful members call this planet home. Osiris is also home to another major power in the Alliance, the Blue Sun Corporation. Blue Sun is the system's largest conglomerate- a provider of everything from food products and travel services to communications technology and spacecraft. Blue Sun Relations forms the single largest lobbying organization in the legislature. Blue Sun also provides the backbone of Osiris' thriving shipwright industry. The company produces some of the Alliance's largest vessels through their subsidiary, the Allied Spacecraft Corporation. A large subcontractor economy is based on work available through ASC. Osiris offers some of the best medical training and research facilities, creating a demand for medical raw materials and volatile exotic substances. Not as busy as Londinium, nor as expensive and decedent as Sihnon, Osiris falls somewhere in between. It is the symbol of law and justice in the Alliance, with the High Courts residing in a pyramid shaped building at the center of Capital City. Osiris has fine academies and schools as well, including the College of Law at The University of Osiris - best in the 'verse. They're also home to the Blue Sun Corporations, said to be harder to get into than most prisons are to escape from. No place is perfect, though Osiris tries. They have made more than a few sections 'blackout zones' after curfew trying to cut back on the crimes happening right under lady Justice's nose. All bulk cargo traffic is confined to the 700 km equatorial trade band per Sihnon Ministry of Culture. Cortex: As one of "The Two Sisters of Exodus," Sihnon's iron-rick soil and abundant seaborne red algae provided crucial raw materials and food for Humanity's first wave. Today, it hosts some of the most important cultural centers in the five clusters, as well as the Alliance primary governing offices for trade, infrastructure and sponsored arts. Jing Qi city is the traditional seat of many powerful guilds, including the Trader's Guild, the Brotherhood of Shipwrights, the Grower's League and the Free Armorers Union. Unlike most of these organizations the Companion's Guild maintains only a small office in the city, choosing instead to administer from the Training Houses spread over the planet. In addition to their normal activities, the Companion's Guild serves an important ecological role on Sihnon. Many of their houses and temples are build on vast Guild-held private nature preserves, a practice the Guild tries to continue with its houses on other worlds. This preservationist attitude extends to the Sihnon government, which heavily restricts large vessel traffic beyond specific equatorial zones. There is a softness to Sihnon even from space, a red glow that radiates from her. She is even lovelier, if possible, from on the ground. The buildings here almost look organic - just as stunning in every way as the planet they sit on. Eastern influences are heavy here: from fashion to culture to dress. And there is so much culture in Sihnon, all sorts of arts are practiced and perfected here. Sihnon is not as closed off and industrialized as Londinum but instead a more open, enjoyable place but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of business about. Nearly every guild has it's headquarters here, including the Companion Guild who has founded many a temple and house over the planet. Perhaps not for you, but for millions of other families who live here. The planet itself is wonderfully breathtaking, with sunsets that are said to capture the imagination and make you fall in love. The very ground seems tinted in a faint glow, and the world always seems to be sighing (or beating, as some say, although in actuality this is the underground water system bubbling within the planet). Results have been mixed. Mandatory Trade Registration: Cargo must be logged with the Bureau of Weights and Measures; exceptions are classified Union of Allied Planets (UAP) and tagged Blue Sun cargo. Cortex: As one might expect from a planet that serves as a major port to and from the five clusters, Persephone has specialized infrastructure to help facilitate almost all forms of personal travel and cargo hauling. The planet's port system has a complex process for tariffs, taxes, and other fees levied on vessels and cargo. The Trader's Guild maintains bureaus in most ports to assist member merchants with fee disputes The Alliance maintains peacekeeping troops in wealthy areas such as Demeter and Chriseda, helping ensure smooth passage and strict adherence to regulations. Less affluent cities often host a large criminal element, with some essentially being run by gangs or other illicit organizations. It is wise to be aware of such criminal groups, as it is likely that independent traders outside of UAP or Blue Sun shipping fleets will encounter them to some degree. Some of the most lucrative short-hail shipping contracts can be found on Renao, Persephone's secure resort moon. The Alliance claims that they have even out the playing field. Must be they've never been to Persephone. The planet is highly polarized, with the wealthy aristocratic class thinking themselves nearly core-breed, while 98% of the world is left working their asses off to get by. Of course, Persphone has plenty of places to do that, with businesses and farms, ranches and factories. The main sight, though, is Eavesdown Docks, one of the busiest in the 'verse and always alive with ships, trade, and a crook or two looking for an unwatched pocket. The feds are trying to keep a closer watch, but with all the ships landing there every day, there is only so much the poor boys can do. As a result, there isn't a business you can think of that doesn't take place somewhere on these docks. Qin Shi Huang [planet]Santos[/planet] Capital: Lilla Moons: New Luxor, Tethys Cortex: Santos is a wonder to behold. The sort of planet that would make those on Earth-That-Was jealous, the kind of beauty usually only found in paintings. And once upon a time, it was prized for this.
