Sometime during the night the captain found herself more than restless. Tossing and turning to the point of possibly driving Drew insane, Gwen had rolled out of bed looking for something to settle her down. Work generally was the key here finding an easy way for her to manage to fall back asleep but that didn't seem to be the case for the Browncoat.

Her slippered feet shuffled across the galley floor as she tugged her fleece blanket tighter about her shoulders. Three hours of being awake found the red head sluggish and already half lacking in her voice. A cough was setting in leaving her more than just a little pouty expression across her tired face. There was no way she was going to wake Drew or even Cora over something that would hopefully pass in a few hours. It wasn't often that the captain managed to catch a cold, but when she did? Most folk generally tended to avoid her. See Gwen wasn't the best of patients the docs had ever dealt with. Gwen didn't exactly get whiny or anything but it was easier to push her buttons from one extreme to the other.

Dropping the kettle a little louder than she intended to on the stove, Gwen simply shrugged it off as she coughed in to her blanket covered arm. Whoever she ended up waking up with that would have to get over it or be coughed on. Either way she was making something hot to drink regardless of who came storming in to see who had woken them up.

Dark blue eyes snapped open, instantly alert to strange sounds in her area. Her paranoia had saved her young life multiple times. She carefully extracted herself from the dark haired pilot that was sharing her bed, absently smoothing back a bit of hair when she recognized the muffled cough coming from the galley. Everyones favorite redhead wanted everyone to be as miserable as she was. Fi sighed lightly as she searched out a pair of underwear, black and lacy, and then pulled Toms discarded tshirt over the top of it. It hung to mid thigh. She glanced over at his sleeping form as she dug into a netted shelf, pulling out her stash of high end green tea. Macha would help the captain wake up and a good cup of darjeeling would help her relax. Fi grabbed a fresh lemon and a small jar of honey from different cubbies. She always had the good stuff.

She slipped her tiny feet into yellow slippers and walked out of her room with one last glance at Tom. She wouldn't have kept looking if he was awake, no need for him to think she was soft. She'd found herself getting more worried about him since he'd broken his wrist back on Verbena. She needed him in a way she'd never needed anyone before and it was disconcerting.

Walking into the galley she likely looked like a waif, her hair mest up and wearing a mans wrinkled shirt and nothing else. She looked over at Gwen and held up her armload of supplies. "How about we use the good stuff?"

Not exactly that Gwen could see the woman approach. She was half sprawled against the table, the blanket that had been around her as she was fixing the water to boil completely covering her head and arms. She coughed again against her arm allowing a whimper to escape as she pulled the blanket tighter. Colds hated her and the captain hated them. There was no love in this little relationship.

Upon hearing Fi's voice the red head pulled the blanket back enough to just barely peek out at from her hiding spot toward her. The fairness of the situation was not there at all. Since the little blond had given her and Drew hell for their little drunken marriage, Gwen could just imagine what she was going to do with her being sick.

"Hows about," the older woman croaked out just barely above a whisper, "we just press restart on the day? Might be much more functional if that is the case." There was a slight muffled thunk from under the blanket as Shi let her head hit the tabletop. "I got so much work to do... this ain't gonna help it none." Sniffling and coughing yet again she shifted once again trying her best to shuffle deeper under the blanket if it was possible.

Oh what could possibly be happening now? Honestly, could a man not even get a moment of peace at night in his bunk? Immediately after his second encounter with the rip raging mechanic that he was convinced had more than a few screws completely missing in her brain pan, Hunter had carried his daughter as she slept back up toward the galley and their bunk that opened off of it. He'd decided to just call it a night himself after tucking her beneath the sheets of the bottom bunk. After a quick shower to scrub off all the grime and try to work away the tension that was building between his shoulders he had changed into a pair of loose fitting flannel slacks and quietly clambered up the ladder to the top bunk.

Rosie of course had woken with a start sometime in the night dragging him half asleep down to check under the bed for monsters. It had taken him laying beside her the better part of an hour to calm the child down and get her back to sleep. And now, someone was making an awful din in the galley that was threatening to wake the child again. He padded barefoot and shirtless to the hatch, checking that she was still tucked away sound before slipping silently out into the cool. Bumps prickled along his arms and torso as dreary eyes scoured the room for the source of all the noise. Fi and Gwen, and by the sound of that cough mostly Gwen. "Ya'll gotta keep it quiet on the clanging. Just got the lil' sprocket back to sleep. If you wake her up again it's your job this time."

He moved over to the kitchen area for a cup of coffee, recognizing that the world just wasn't going to let him have a break so he might as well get back to work. "Ye look like you got hit by a garbage transport and then left out to stew in some god forsaken desert somewhere Cap'n." Leaning against the counter he took in Fi's garb, realizing she wasn't wearing any pants beneath the shirt that obviously wasn't hers. That was interesting, because Hunter hadn't thought the generally sour mannered Seraphina Grant had a beau on the ship. "All that coughing and banging about interrupt you too?"

"Don't make me cough on you," came the muffled reply from the captain. She was huddled against the table, head still covered with the warm blanket. Honestly why she didn't just go crawl back in to bed was beyond anyone's guess however comfortable it might have been. There was to much work to do to get done even if the woman couldn't exactly focus on it.

Coughing again a little tiny pathetic moan managed to escape from the lump that was leaned up against their perfectly good eating space. "I feel like Tom parked Cressi on me and just left it. You manage t' start lookin' over all those reports yet?"

Slowly Gwen started to raise herself up, pushing back the blanket enough off her head revealing a face that was more than a little pouty. Gwen had never been the best of patients even when she had been a child and sick. Being an adult and sick just seemed to amplify that ten fold. Lightly she brushed cold fingers over her brow as she sniffled. "Either of you two tell Drew I'm sick I will personally make y'alls lives a living hell."

Fi raised an eyebrow as she smirked at the captain's rather pathetic form, "Tom would never park the Cressi on you, he wouldn't want to deal with the paperwork," She offered in a falsely comforting tone. Fi then turned toward Hunter and raised a mocking eyebrow, plucking at the hem of the shirt so that it raised to her upper thigh, "I just thought it might be fun to try an entice anyone that the gilla monster over here woke up," She blinked coyly up at him, ignoring the fact that she was wearing the shirt Tom had been wearing all day yesterday. It smelled good though.

She shoved him out of the way as she filled a pot with water and set it to boiling before rounding up the supplies that she'd left at the table and setting them on the counter. The new people hadn't yet realized that not only was she the communications guru, but she could also get anything anyone wanted in the 'Verse. She was that damn good and had that many contacts. It was another reason that she had so much security near her room and around the ship. She had stuff no one else needed to know about.

"Ay now. Already gone and woke a man out his bed, no need to go threatenin' diseases on anyone!" He shook his head slightly, feeling sympathy for the woman. That sounded like a nasty kind of cold. Flipping open a cupboard he pulled out a large mug, eying the half filled pot and willing it to brew just a bit faster... almost ready... almost... "Yeah, read it all through once and started to get into detail on some of the objectives. Spent a long time on the crew files too." He said distractedly, tapping his fingers and giving the pot an evil eye. Was it slowing down?! It looked like it was slowing down! Bother. "Can't say I'm liking what we got so far. Not a lot of information about our target available, a huge number of variables with a cover not originally designed for this team and we can't scout at all. Plus, not everyones a Vet, this will be their first mission."

Finally! Hunter jumped onto pouring himself a cup the instant it was finished. "Kind of feels like they pitched a major league fastball to a T-ball team. Sure, we got a lot of talent, but we ain't no kind of team yet." Turning back to the two women he sipped at the drink and leaned against the counter again. He raised an eyebrow at Fi's antic, a mischievous light twinkling in dark brown eyes. Look who was all chipper in the middle of the night! Must have had herself a fairly good time with whoever's shirt she was wearing. "Shoot. You wantin' to have a little fun all's you gotta do is ask! Ain't gotta go to all that trouble of lurin' me out here Fi." Hunter lifted the mug to his lips to hide the crooked grin and sent her a playful little wink over the rim. Maybe if he was lucky her retaliation wouldn't involve more bruising.

The tiny woman's arm shoved at his side sharply so he stepped over, giving her room to work. Reaching into the cabinet again he grabbed two more mugs and set them down beside Fi's supplies, assuming they would rather drink out of cups than their hands. Then he pushed up to sit in the empty space on the counter, no way he was going to go sit by a cesspool of the black plague. He wasn't looking to catch what ever illness the captain was brewing up. "Ain't a chance me tellin' you to head on back to bed's gonna work is there?"

"I am not a gorram gilla monster."

At least that is what the blob of blanket at the table said as the woman under it shifted again, coughing loud as if to make a point. Whatever point that was she didn't know but it was obviously something highly important. Grumbling a lot the woman finally pushed the blanket off her head enough to show just the extent of how bad she felt. Pale, looking like she felt awful, not to mention all red in the nose. "And don't think I won't do it. I'm a desperate woman after all."

Rubbing at her nose, Gwen simply looked at what the two were doing before going back to resting her brow against the tabletop. Their words just flew over her head for the most part. Focusing was harder than she thought it would be. "No."

"No,"Fi responded at the same time as the creature claiming to be Captain MacKenzie. Fi wrinkled her nose and glanced over at the red head as she tried to hack up a lung. She wasn't gonna have to tell the Doc about it, all he had to do was wake up and here the woman trying to cough herself inside out.

"Who said I was trying to lure you? Maybe I was trying to get our new security officers attention. I love long ...." She held out the words and then looked him over for a moment, "Legs on a woman," She winked as she poured Gwen a mug and walked it over, bending over to set it in front of the woman, letting a little black lace peek out at Hunter.

She walked back to Hunter and hopped up on the counter, crossing her legs as she poured her own mug of tea, adding some honey and holding it between her hands to let the warmth seep into her body. She smiled angelically up at the other man, blinking slowly as she took a careful sip.

"Hmmm... thought as much. Pity. Was hopin' time would've beaten some of that stubborn out o' ya there Gwen. Might've actually be able to convince you of this idea I'd been playin' with. Could be a lot of fun!" Taking a long drink from his mug the man was in all honesty quite intrigued by Fi's actions. Who knew she could be such a tease? He swallowed hard as she looked him over, a little unsure of what was going on. It wasn't like he'd gone and made a move on her or anything, so where was this coming from? She was in some other guy's shirt for chrissake.

At the mention of long legs though Hunter broke out into a deep chuckle, nearly choking on his coffee before he wisely lowered the mug. "Shoot, ain't that the truth. And ol' Talia's got a pair that run on for miles. It's a crying shame they're so off limits. I mean you can try. Lord knows I've given a run at that a time or two; always end up flat on my back with the wind knocked outta me and bruises the size of plates though." Truthfully Hunter had moved Talia into that friendship category in his head years ago. He'd flirt and joke around and insinuate till kingdom come, but wasn't intending on actually trying to take her anywhere but to the cargo hold for a sparring match or a bar for a good night of drinks and beating on the locals.

"But who knows, maybe she likes a more feminine touch? You should give it a try and tell me all about how it goes." A toothy grin lit up his face as dark brown eyes took in the show he was being given. There were some very, very fine looking women on this ship. Too bad half of them hated him and the other half could gut him or were already tied up with a partner of sorts. Shifting over slightly to give the woman enough room he shook his head slightly as she continued to lay the teasing on thick. If she wasn't careful she was going to lure out the mischievous side of the man that always ended him in hot water of a sort.

"Maybe I can talk her into letting you watch," She blew on the tea and took a dainty sip, a soft sweet smile still on her lips. She was in one of those moods. Jay, Doc, and Tom knew not to take any of it seriously and she figured that this would throw him a bit but Fi was into flirting. Hell before the whole thing with Tom she was a love 'em and leave 'em kind of girl, different man at every port. Despite her verbal banter she'd never really been one for girl on girl.

"Though if you're into being thrown down and covered in bruises maybe I'll accommodate you anyway," She turned her head to stare at him blandly for a few moments. Listening to the wheezy moans from behind her. She knew to keep an ear out for strange thunks or sudden silence, meant that Red had finally passed out and they could grab the Doc and pretend they hadn't been planning it all along. Not that Gwen ever believed her but still.

For a good long moment Gwen was quiet. She had leaned back against the table with the blanket about her hoping to keep what little warmth she had about her. When had it gotten so cold in the galley? Gwen didn't know and didn't half care- she couldn't stop shaking. When she did speak again, however, it was gruff. "Oh why don't you two get a gorram room or something."

Slowly the captain started to get up from the table. It was all she could do to keep from getting tangled up in the blankets as she did so. Everything was all... wobbly. Course having the blanket near blocking her vision didn't help any either. "You both got bunks. You wanna get your kicks out go there not in my galley."

The creature was growling and snapping at them again. Fi raised an eyebrow. "3 reasons creature pretending to be Cap'n Gwen. 1 - The tables are sturdy and a lot closer than our bunks. 2 - Hunter has a 5 yo in his bunk 3 - I have a pilot in mine," She sipped at her tea again, uncrossing and recrossing her legs as she winked over at Hunter.

Poor Gwen wasn't very good at being ill. She got extra surly and hated everyone and everything. Soon as Doc or Little Doc got up and heard her hacking her insides onto the floor of the galley they'd give her a syrinpress and knock her out until she was a bit better. Until then Fi would keep an eye one her and flirt with Hunter at the same time.
