If the Captain had had her way, the ship would have been airborne the instant the Alliance officers had been off the ship. Instead they were still docked planetside on Verbena patching up wounds and acquiring supplies. Not that Gwen had objections to the fresh cooked food that Felicity O'Connell insisted on sending their way. It beat the fare they generally had when all the fresh produce on the ship had expired or the younger generations had eaten them all.

Propped back in a chair just outside of the ship with the back of her chair resting against a set of crates that had yet to be brought in the red head shifted her feet where they rested on a few smaller boxes infront of her. Carefully she scraped her pocket knife along a piece of wood gently whittling away at the layers leaving curled shavings on the soft green grass beside of her.

The weather was fair enough for her liking as it always had been on the green, lush planet. A gentle breeze swept through swaying her red locks as it did the leaves that dotted the docks close to the town. Bad thing was it reminded her of all the times prior to the War and those few short months after when everything had been right. Her mind drifted as she worked the knife down intending to create another curl to add to the pile. Instead the sharp blade sliced in to the pointer finger on her left hand. "Son of a.." she cursed instantly went to squeezing the shallow cut closed. So much for peaceful afternoons.

Sweat trickled from his brow and down into his eyes as he meandered his way out of town. A large wooden crate was held in his arms, a khaki green canvas rucksack tossed over a shoulder. Whew, it was hot out! But at least he was nearly at his destination; that giant hunk of metal set on the outskirts of town he was about to call home. It always got him a little excited when he changed venues. New people, new adventures, new friendships for a lifetime. No not really, but every ship had it's own feel, its own special brand of organized chaos. Change was refreshing.

Sidling up against the hull of the ship Hunter laid the crate on top of a stack already formed, dark eyes flicking towards the main hatch at the sound of muttered swearing. A playful grin hit his cheeks as he recognized the voice, just who he needed to see. Bright red hair quickly came into view as the many skirted an array of boxes, taking but a moment to assess the scene as well as her sliced finger. "Well shoot. Looks like the Red Devil gone started losin' her touch!"

A few more steps brought him before her, a hand moving up to wipe the damp from his forehead and then rustle through unkempt hair. He glanced up to the sky, a light breeze running across his skin cooling him down to a comfortable temperature."Fine day out. Pity to be leavin' Verbena so soon. Always do miss the sun when flyin' in a pretty little bird such as this." The Cressida looked to be a Wayfarer, a nice little transport. Had their little catches to be sure, but when they were running smoothly man did they purr.

Gwen looked up, finger in her mouth as she sucked the blood from the cut. Her green eyes went wide at the sound of another voice that she didn't know from Adam or some person from the town. Sure it tickled the back of her mind like she should know it, but it had been years since she had. It wasn't until the man moved in to view that she let a slight smirk cross her face before she lowered her hand watching as the droplet of blood soon was pooled about her nail threatening to drop to the ground. Hunter Williams had been a goof even back during the days of the War she had worked with him. Bright, smart, but reckless were the best ways to describe him. Put the man infront of any machine and it would be working better than ever.

"Oh yeah. Old and and all." Smirking a little deeper the woman closed the pocket knife before sliding it back inside her pants. Reaching over she offered him her right hand in greeting. "Bout time you showed up. Was wondering if I was gonna have to cast off without you, Williams."

His comment on 'Red Devil' would go noted but uncommitted on for now. Gwen should have considered hiring him more based on that alone. Between Drew calling her Red and Hunter with the War time nickname.. they were going to get along to well based on that alone. "Still using that, Shortfry? Was hoping you would have forgotten it."

His stance was completely relaxed as he took up the offered hand, returning a firm handshake and slight shake of his head. "Forget the Red Devil? No ma'am. Ain't the kind of thing any man with half a mind gets to losing too fast." The nickname had originated the first time the mechanic had laid his eyes on Gwen MacKenzie. Something about the fire red hair and soul damning look in her eye had him convinced she was the one they'd named the entirety of the 501st after. "To be honest I expected to see you comin' to drag my sorry ass down a long time ago. So can't blame me for takin' my sweet time too much." As for Shortfry, the height difference between them was almost comical if she ever took off those thick old cavalry boots.

It was nice to be in the company of comrades. Last ship he'd been working on had a contract a full four months long and was headed by some purple gutted piss-ant who like to ramble on about the glory the Alliance found in the valley. Almost needless to say, Hunter had only lasted a week and a half of it before they dumped him on Verbena. Still it would seem luck was on his side, pieces snapped together and now he was an employ, or nearly, on a freight most definitely more his style. As long as the great Gwen MacKenzie hadn't turned soft on him.

"So about the situation you got going for yourself here. I'm gonna need to take a look see under the hood. Also be needing to know a little more about the operation you got running. To be honest I was a little drunker an I aught have been when you got talkin' to me and just said a whole mess of 'yes's. Some of the facts might be sloshed about a bit."

The Captain shook her left hand out, sloshing the droplets of blood on to the grass without a second look. Sure it stung, burned even, but she paid little attention to it or the droplets that were replacing their missing siblings. "Forget the nickname I meant, kiddo. Don't rightly seem usable with the Company disbanded."

Allowing her chair to thump softly against the ground the older woman stood carefully stretching as she did so. Carefully she batted the shaving that had clung to her clothing off before jerking her head in the direction of the Cressida. "She just went a complete overhaul from top t' bottom for her first time in.. well to damn long. She missed her last two assigned updates from her previous two captain's, but we managed to swing it this time."

She only stopped and looked at what Hunter was carrying once before allowing a brow to quirk slightly. Surely the man had more stuff somewhere right? Crews lived simple, but most she had seen come and go had more in some respects. "You picked a good time t' take my offer. My head mechanic got hurt and will be off duty for a while."

Rounding her way up the ramp leading in to her ship, Gwen spoke mostly over her shoulder expecting the man to be following her. "Our operation is simple. We deliver goods as per the contracts that the Spencer-Dai Company sends to us. Passengers come and go depending on where we are headed- general transport ship." If he was expecting more.. well that would come later once the ship was secure and they were airborne.

No no, the nickname stayed. Hunter had never been very good at letting go of the past. He'd been chasing the war ever since the surrender had been signed by the higher ups; hanging in vet bars, doing just about anything he could to undermine Alliance authority. Hell, he still kept the old duster and wore it out religiously, patches ripped of the sleeves just like everyone, but he'd sewn them into the lining so they pressed up against his shoulders.

"Sorry to hear it, but that does give me a bit to take a look at things without someone all under foot." A complete over haul! Eye lit up at the words, as he followed her up the ramp. This might be about the first time since the war that he'd accepted a job with a 'Second' before the word Mechanic. He wasn't exactly accustom to letting anyone else run the show. But he wasn't going to say no to an offer from Gwen MacKenzie, he didn't know her all that well but he held a great deal of respect for her, might have taken up cook to be on this ship.

About halfway up the ramp he paused, realizing he was forgetting something rather important. "I do got one request though, I'll be needing a double room to ma'self. If that ain't even a possibility a single'll do, just can't be sharin' with nobody." His gazed sifted out to their surroundings searching for... something... hidden away. The softest of noises had him looking down, a deep frown instantly hitting his face. "Now what in hell did I tell you about playin' with a loaded piece?"

Hardly waiting for an answer he dismounted from the ramp, boots hitting the earth with a thud. "That you got to have the safety on except when?" Half hidden behind the stack of crates stood a small girl, long blond hair tied up into pigtail with a pair of pink ribbons, a mangy old stuffed bear hanging limply from one hand and a small six shooter trained on the Captain in the other.

When the sounds of Hunter actually leaving the ship caught her attention she was standing at the top of the ramp, mouth open and eyes narrowed ready to fire off a snarky reply about the man leaving already when she turned and... stared. Green eyes went wide as she looked down at the child pointing a pistol at her that, in Gwen's own opinion, shouldn't have been there in the first place and was way to heavy for her. "What... what is this?" If the child was expecting a reaction from the older woman she was possibly going to get one and not of the very good kind either. "And why does it have a piece trailed on me, Williams?"

There hadn't been any discussion of a kid in the picture of the man coming to work for her. No hint, no dropped suggestions, nothing. Coming in to a situation like this blind as to what she was getting was not the sort of thing that Kenzie liked or promoted on her ship. Sure everyone had their secrets on the boat including her self but this was totally different. Ship was no place for a kid nor was a weapon in a kid's hands. "You have some quick explaining to do, Sprout, else you're gonna be looking for another boat to cast off with."

Hadn't he mentioned it? Come to think of it he couldn't remember doing so, and he'd forgotten to say something more than once before. But for now explaining things to Gwen wasn't at the top of his priorities list, keeping her from getting shot was. A few quick steps and he was beside the little girl, on and reached out and firmly relieved the weapon from her hand. "I'm waitin' Rosie." Hands expertly engaged the safety, flicked the cylinder out and unloaded the ammunition into his palm, all with his gaze trained directly on the young face.

The child dropped her eyes, kicking at the ground as she tried to avoid the reprimand that was surely coming. When she spoke her voice was sweet and her tone verging on apologetic. "Not to if you ain't there or 'less a purple bellied basterd gotchya in their clutches...." Hunter clipped the cylinder back in place, thrusting both the gun and the bullets into his pocket before reaching down to pick up the child. "Tha's right. And ain't neither of thems apply 'cause Gwen here's about the farthest thing you can get from Purple Gutted there is. Understood?"

The child nodded before wrapping her arms tightly around Hunter's neck half burying her face onto his shoulder shyly as she watched Gwen. Now that that was over with Hunter turned back to the captain. This might take a little bit of careful negotiation. "This's Rosalee captain. Sorry bout the gun, she's been twitchy ever since the explosion. We had a bad dream about some feds haulin' me off last night didn't we ài rén?" He swept a few fingers across the child's cheek affectionately before settling his gaze on the captain. "Rosalee's my daughter Gwen."

Did the midget just call her a Purple belly? Clearly the expression that was crossing the older woman's face was rather unamused as she was soon crossing her under her chest. One red brow quirked upward as she watched father and daughter exchange words. How the hell did he forget to mention this to her? Letting out a held breath through her nose the captain simply stood her ground slightly tilting her head back giving the mechanic a look that was disapproving. To a degree at least. "We all been twitchy since the plant blew, Williams, but that don't give no reason for her to be lookin' t' shoot someone."

There was a tired look in her eyes, within the couple of days since they got to Verbena the woman had had no sleep. Gwen wasn't haggard yet but having the kid, midget, Rosalee, wielding a gun? That was icing on the proverbial cake. "Ship ain't no place to be having kids willingly. To much trouble to get in to and to many dangers." She'd taken in two strays and found them both decent homes.. well if Jean decided to stay that was. The other kid had been older than Hunter's spawn, but that didn't mean she still liked or approved of it. To many questions sprang to mind that she was half tempted to tell Williams that she was sorry, find another ship. Gorramnit if he hadn't been the best in his field she would have without a second thought.

He moved to remount the ramp, wandering up towards the captain once more. He'd like to see Gwen try and reason with a scared five year old and then try to explain the difference between realistic dreams and reality. Wasn't an easy task when she still believed in the tooth fairy and the boogey man under her bed. "She takes after me in the way that she just plain don't like Alliance. And the place has been crawling with 'em. She's just tryna keep her Da' around awhile longer, ain't ya sweetheart?" One hand move to the strap of his duffel, shifting it lower so that the weight balanced better on his shoulders now that he was holding the child.

"As far as ships go, Rosie's been raised on em. Sayin' she shouldn't be on a ship's like sayin' cows shouldn't be living on grass. She knows the rules and keeps out of trouble as far as any kid does. Won't come crashing the whole thing to a halt or nothin'." Reaching around to his back pocket, Hunter plucked out a set of papers. Very official looking documents that proclaimed the names of the two people standing in front of Gwen to be Henry and Rachel Barker. A father and daughter that hailed from Osiris traveling to see extended family out in the rim. If the red head was as deep into things as he figured she was, she'd probably recognize how and why he'd gotten those papers.

"And as far as danger goes, got me a feeling that the Cressida's a lot safer'n what we've been doing hopping one ship to the next. Wouldn't mind setting in for a good long while and letting Rose get used to a place for once." Hunter often had to leave his daughter behind in the bunk when out doing business. Sometimes he didn't trust the captain enough to do it and ended up dragging her out into places she really shouldn't be. But he knew he could trust Gwen and anybody she willingly associated with. It would be a nice change of pace.

Coralyn was worried. Yes she was always perhaps a little worried, in fact she’d often been teased that unless she was worried she wouldn’t be happy. But on this occasion she was actually twitchy... It was like the whole thing had come to a head, the Jay and Rora situation along with realising how vulnerable she was on this ship with these people. They could have been killed here on Verbena, each and every one of them, and even if she was feeling particularly pessimistic about her crew right now, all she wanted to do was be in the air again away from Alliance threat and away from the place that had made her whip out a scalpel for the first time in six months.

Still, there were upsides. There always were. For one thing, Verbena was an opportunity to stock up on medical supplies that they weren’t actually low on, but were going cheap. Coralyn always feared some dreadful epidemic or other and just having an extra crate or two, even if she had to push it under her bed to make room, made her feel a touch more secure. And so she half staggered back to the ship, her waiflike frame buried underneath two large boxes with sinister looking symbols on the side. Cora had an inkling that she might’ve been able to get this stuff cheaper, but she wasn’t a very good haggler. She tended just to blush bright red and agree to any price they named. She only hoped Drew would approve...

Spotting a flash of red hair as she approached crablike to the ramp, she paused briefly.“Hello Captain.” The voice behind the box said, as brightly as she could. “Good afternoon,” she added, to what was presumably a man she was conversing with, hoping to God she hadn’t blissfully wandered into yet another confrontation. Her nerves simply couldn't take any more.

Holding her hand out for the papers, Gwen kept an even expression once they were in her possession. Quickly she scanned the papers over taking to know the name changes and exactly the reasons they had travel papers. Williams was right about one thing- the Captain was heavily involved and deeper than probably most people on the ship knew. Fi possibly had an idea and if she had done her research would have known the extent to a degree. If the two were going to stay that meant schooling the crew in the extra aliases. Carefully and slowly the red head folded the paperwork back up making sure the creases were sharp before handing them back to Hunter. "Alliance 's been here ever since they took the planet. Crawlin' ain't the best of words to describe it in all honesty."

Green eyes shifted between the now shy child and her father causing her hands to settle upon her hips this go around. "You taught her about Reavers? We seem 'em. There's a reason I don't like kids on my boat and the Alliance is just half of it." Letting out a sigh Kenzie almost seemed to slump her shoulders slightly. "And if you lot decide t' stay I have rules. No guns an' no cussin' coming outta her mouth. Dŏng ma?"

Her gaze shifted to the form that was approaching the ship allowing a brow to raise a little more as she moved past Hunter hoping to catch Cora as she hit the ramp trying to take one of the crates from her so she could see where she was going. "Afternoon, Coralyn. See you're managing t' get our medbay stocked back up 'fore we take off?" When the woman greeted Hunter and Rosalee she all but sighed. How was she going to do this tactfully while still seeming to be the hard woman she tried to be? Soft. She was getting soft in her old age of thirty. "Cora, want you t' meet our new mechanic. He'll be working along side of Rora and stepping in while you and Drew cot her holed up in the infirmary."

At the thought of Reavers faint worry lines creased in between his eyebrows, his pulse quickening ever so slightly. Reavers were something he wasn't planning on fully explaining to his daughter for a long time to come. She knew that if he told her to go hide that she was meant to hide good and well in a spot they picked and wasn't to move a muscle no matter what happened. Not too much of a plan as plans went, but there wasn't much to be done when Reavers got involved. Just had to pray like mad they didn't pick you. "It's a risk you run in this business."

At the mention of her gun getting taken away Rosalee's head popped up and she began to balk. It was her gun! Who was this lady that she got to keep it from her. "Dah.." Hunter shook his head and cut her off. "Gun's fair enough. She's gone lost her privileges for a while with that little stunt anyhow. Expect that I'll be givin' it back to her if we's lookin' at trouble though. Ain't leaving her unarmed if she might need it. And 'afore you get to harping on that, she can shoot just fine." A smile his his eyes when he thought about it, playing every bit the part of a proud father.

He had been about to wish Gwen luck on the cussing front when footsteps sounded behind him. She'd just find out for herself. "Afternoon to you too." Rotating around Hunter couldn't move to help with his hands being full already, and so he busied himself with just watching. "Hunter Williams. It'sa pleasure Cora." It would look like he'd sunk the position if Gwen was introducing him as a crew member. Finally a place that he could drop his guard, if only just a little. "So you the one who's gonna keep me patched up after any of our little scuffles?"

Coralyn's arms, designed for precision rather than lifting, seemed to groan in relief as Gwen relieved her of one crate. "Thank you... well, just a few essentials." she assured, feeling rather like she had to justify herself for her minor spree. "And did you know Captain, that the people at the markets, some of them didn't even want money! They were willing to trade my possessions. Isn't that peculiar?" She shook her head slightly, as though uncertain whether such a thing had happened or her somewhat over-reactive imagination had dreamed it up. After all, she'd been very tired all afternoon, between all this stock there'd been visits to the medical center, offering as much assistance as she could to the victims of the explosion. They never seemed to stop coming. But they were all terribly grateful. It was the only downside of leaving so soon..

The new mechanic was introduced, and though shaking hands was very much Cora's protocol, she couldn't with her box, and instead settled for an awkward little wave. "Goodness, I had no ides we were picking up new crew! Yes, I'm Dr. Cardew, very pleased to meet you, Mr. Williams." Being able to see again, she accessed him properly and she had to admit, he looked far more like her original perception of a mechanic. Instead of a slender beauty, he looked strong and capable. Perhaps it was her own snobbishness, but another man on board DID make her feel a little more secure. And the crates WERE awfully heavy..

"Well actually Dr. Lancaster is the first medic. I'm more.. supply. And typing. And the little things. B-but, I am useful!" She hurriedly added with a nervous glance at Gwen. "And um-if you happen to break or damage or even lose parts of your anatomy. I'm very much... good. Yes. Well." The ramp loomed ahead of her as a convenient escape route, before she spotted Hunter's rather unusual accessory.

"Oh, what a lovely little girl! Is she yours?" Cora had a huge affection for children. After all, if everything hadn't gone so wrong, she might've been a paediatrician right now.

Quietly Gwen rolled her eyes upward biting back a comment that she so dearly wanted to make. Instead she offered a loud sigh that was only slightly vexing. How many times did she have to remind Cora that she was useful aside from the paperwork? Settling a green-eyed gaze upon the newer of the doctors on board, Gwen let a smirk cross her face. "We are capable of staffing fifteen folk on board the ship. As much as I know Drew would like t' keep tabs on everyone to the point of dropping from exhaustion, I do like t' see my husband from time to time. Even if he can be a bear of a man."

At the mention of the kid being able to shoot she tossed Hunter a look hoping having another woman on her side would keep the child from playing with guns. "While I do believe that you've trained her good and well, Sprout, ain't no kid on this boat toting 'round a gun unless its highly needed and there ain't many times that's the issue." Clicking her tongue off the roof of her mouth Gwen shifted the supplies once in her arms. "I'll have a talk with them. Most of th' folk down there I know. I can get your stuff back and settle th' bill."

"You got schoolin' for her? If not we'll figure somethin' out." The Captain started to move toward the inner hold of the ship angling her way toward a door at the far end leading to where medical was at. "The O'Connell's are insisting on feeding us again tonight. I need t' go have some words with them 'bout fattenin' my crew up."

Hunter's head slowly cocked itself sideways as the doctor spoke. Was it possible that a woman this... naive? No, that wasn't quite the right word. Innocent. Was it possible for a woman this innocent to have survived out here for any decent length of time? The answer to that was a resounding no, not unless she had some serious back up on her side or one of those faster than lighting switch tempers. There were far to many people with tongues sweeter than sugar that could make you feel guilty that you hadn't already donated the skin off your own back. So either new to the big bad border planets or Gwen was damn good at her job. Maybe even a lot of both.

Still, his smile was earnest, his chin dropped into a slight nod in greeting. His face brightened instantly to a look of surprise as Hunter whipped his head around to look at Gwen. Husband. Husband?! "Well I'll be, the Devil gone and gotten herself hitched? Shit and here she was makin' a fuss about me throwin' surprises in the works." The grin on his face was no less than devilish. "So when do I get to meet this man and threaten him somethin' proper huh? A doctor you said? Normally I don't take to picking business with those that might be poking around my innards, but for you I'll make an exception Gwen."

Hunter was by all counts surprised to hear she'd gotten married. For one, it was the kind of news that would have made the rounds, especially here on her home planet. For another, Hunter knew about Gabriel. Hell, he'd met the man, didn't know him well or anything but he'd taken a liking to him. It was a tragedy what had happened to him, just like all the other lives lost in that valley. A tragedy and a waste. Still, it was good to hear she'd moved on and found herself someone else.

"This here's Rosalee, Dr. Cardew. And if by mine you mean unlucky enough to have me as her Pa, then sadly I gotta tell you yes." Shooting a look to Gwen the mechanic raised an eye brow, blatantly ignoring the weapons commentary, the last thing he needed was to women ganging up on him if he could help it. Feet shuffled into action following the captain in towards the cargo bay setting his daughter down so that she could run in and explore the area some. "Here, let me grab that for you doctor. Long walk from in town carrying a load."

Coralyn frantically nodded at what she suspected was a half-compliment from Gwen. An affirmation at any rate which, considering the amount of respect she had for Gwen, was always appreciated. And actually, the comparison was rather apt, Drew DID sometimes remind her of a bear. He definitely seemed to get taller when he was angry...

“Well it’ll be just wonderful to have you on board too, Rosalee!” Cora proclaimed brightly. After all, the girl’s safety would give her something else to be paranoid about. She only hoped her Father wouldn’t swear quite so much, it was distasteful at the best of times, let alone around children. Still, it was no wonder he was so surprised. She hadn't realised that the Captain and the Doctor were married until her second day. It was a typical faux pas on her part, but in her defence, it didn’t seem like a typical marriage either.

“Oh yes, would you? You’re very kind.” Coralyn said, gratefully unloading the crate from her arms so she was left with just a little box of treats and presents, tokens of gratitude from the town people. She couldn’t wait to dig into those rock cakes, those that lived here certainly knew how to cook! As they walked into the hold and made a left, towards Cora’s home from home, she gave a small squeak of both joy and despair at their dinner plans. “Again!? Captain, they’re so marvellous... but last time we ate with them I thought I was going to have to stretcher myself back again!” Coralyn had been an extremely picky eater and hearty meals were not her forte. But these people just wouldn’t accept no for an answer! She thought she’d eaten better here in a few days than she had for weeks on end back home. “But if they absolutely insist.” She added hurriedly, watching as Rosalee scampered off, already in a minor panic about how easily the little thing could trap herself in machinery... They were definitely going to need more blood from the crew, and she decided she'd pounce with a smile and a needle when everyone looked a little more susceptible.

Drew had finally gotten off to go get some supplies, now that his patients were stable and, actually moving about on their own with his permission. Rora was the worst, nearly as bad as Fi herself, but now he didn't have to feel bad about making her stay put. He'd actually had to go to the lengths of locking her up in the MedBay once, which had put the mechanic in a tizzy, which was nearly as bad as her wanderin' the ship, anywho. So long as she slept in the MedBay, he felt better.

Lugging his crates back to the ship, Drew felt mighty proud of himself for gettin' such a right fine deal. The dealers had been easy to whittle down to a decent asking price, and once it had been cut nearly in half, he was more'n willing to take 'em up on it.

As he approached the ship, his brows came together in a frown. He dropped his crates next to Cora's, crossing his arms across his chest. His tone was meek, innocent, and complete bullshit as Gwen would easily pick up on. "If I'd known you were off to pick up supplies, Cora, I'd'a given you my list, seeing as I went off and done the same gorram thing." A muscle in his jaw twitched as the irritation shone through. "You best be hopin' we didn't pick up no duplicates. I'm not needin' two 'a' ev'rythin' in my MedBay."

Maybe it was over the top, but Drew had a system, and, by now, Cora shoulda known at least when he liked to pick up his supplies, and that, where they were concerned, he was extremely specific.

He turned to the redhead, a goofy, roguish grin crossing his normally harsh features. "Well, g'mornin', Red. Who's yer friend, here?" He turned to the other man, tempted to kiss his wife just to get across the point that she was very much taken. Drew had no plans of givin' up that title which he'd gotten in a rather...unusual way.

"I know. They ain't seen me in years and have already adopted y'all in to their little family. Felicity will insist on it until the day we leave and every time we come back, Lord willing." The O'Connell's had lost their only son during the War in the same raid that had placed Gwen as a prisoner of war at the battle of St. Albans. She knew how much her 'foster children' as Felicity often called them were the filler in the gap of their own son being missing. Hell the woman had already had the 'marriage' talk with her as soon as she found out Drew was her husband and just a prior one earlier that day about children. Truth be told Gwen didn't think the woman would rest in peace until she found out all her advice had been put to good use. "She'll have some of the hands bring it up to the ship later."

At Hunter talking about Drew like that, she couldn't help but snort a laugh. It would be an even match between the two though she was quite sure that one had an advantage over the other which would make an interesting sport. "Soon enough. He or Cora here will want to give you and Rosalee a look over, make sure everyone is in fine health and the like." Green eyes met Hunter's eyes knowing full well what he was thinking. It had taken seven years for her to finally move on after Gabriel had died. Still wasn't easy but she had.

The trio was just about to the door leading to the lower level of the ship when Drew spoke up behind them. Gwen craned her head around, giving the taller man a warm little smile. "Drew- you know how we are around here. Won't do no harm if she did or didn't. It will get used sooner than later the rate our luck has been goin' the last few months." The man really was a bear sometimes- especially when it came to his medical bay. While Cora might not be head of the infirmary, she was just as talented as he and they needed to work together. And him losing some of that possessive streak. "Drew, this is Hunter Williams an' the spitfire you saw runnin' off is his daughter Rosalee. Hunter is goin t' be helping out Rora with the mechanics of the ship." And I knew him from the War, was the unspoken sentence at the end.

He raised his eyebrows. "You know I have my system. I'd just like those in my MedBay to follow it." She was trying to make him play nice with Cora, which he would, when she got used to the fact that she was not the only one working in the medbay.

"Drew, this is Hunter Williams an' the spitfire you saw runnin' off is his daughter Rosalee. Hunter is goin t' be helping out Rora with the mechanics of the ship."

"Oh?" Drew looked to the other man, sizing him up quickly. He knew Gwen, and he knew what that look mean - they'd met before. That, in addition to fact that she didn't seem to have a problem with him having a kid, or just him in general, and they had to be very cautious where new hires were concerned, proved that they'd had a closer-than-just-acquaintences relationship before. Which instantly put him on alert. "Good to meet ya," he said in his thick brogue. "I'm hopin' yer ready for a fight. Rora ain't exactly well with sharin' her space."
