Well, this wasn't stressful at all, Echo thought sarcastically, her lips pressed together in what might have been a thin line if she hadn't inherited such full lips. She wasn't one to complain, but the level of tenseness in the air on board the Cressida was bringing out that side of her.

Echo had her hair pulled back into a loose ponytail, and her clothes were casual - ripped jeans, and orange tank with her bangle bracelets and flipflops, and the rest of her belongings were in a worn brown leather bag - just in case. It could go with her, or she could stay here. After leaving the Alliance, she'd gotten used to living casually, and she liked it. She certainly hoped the Captain didn't mind such casual uniforms.

She hadn't been introduced to the crew yet, which was awkward, seeing as they were now, apparently, stuck together. She was still nervous to meet the Pilot, in particular.

Gwen had told her that he'd been wounded, and she needed a pilot, ASAP. Echo wasn't fond of being backup, especially considering she'd be demoted to co-pilot once he got healed, but, she thought, running her hands over the controllers, it was a job. Off-planet. Back out in the Black where she ought to be.

He was probably not going to be so fond of her, she knew. Echo, regardless of her pending demotion to co-pilot, was a threat, stepping in on his territory. She'd be the same way were the situation reversed.

She sighed, dropping her bag and slipping into a chair, pulling her knees up to her chin.

Tom knew he was no use with a broken wrist. That much had been pointed out to him when they figured out it was broken. How could a pilot fly with a broken wrist and keep the ship up and the occupants of that ship safe. He knew that meant they would be getting a replacement for now and that the captain had talked about a co-pilot before that. Because they had to get one, that did not mean he was pleased with the situation. No, he was far from pleased with the whole thing and he blamed himself for getting hurt. If he didn't have to try to play hero and help, he would not have gotten injured himself. He could have kept walking back to the ship and ignored the tent, but no, he needed to jump into the rescue and get himself injured.

He had a slight headache from the night before, the one that they had spent drinking. He knew it would go away eventually, but it had definitely been worth it. With a groan and his good hand on his head, he started to make his way up to the bridge. Even though he could not fly Cressi did not mean that he wouldn't spend all his time up here. He was so used to the bridge, being away from it was horrible.

As Tom entered the bridge, he saw someone in the pilot's chair: his chair. He scowled, he was not good at sharing his things. He came in and stalked over to the co-pilot's chair, plopping down into it and giving the female a glare. "Who do you think you are?" he growled, his arms crossing over his chest awkwardly with the cast making it too bulky to do comfortably. He wasn't going to go easy on this girl who could take his job and get him kicked off of this ship he had been apart of for over two years.

Echo sat up, dropping her feet back to the deck, her eyes wide but determined.

This wouldn't be her first time having to prove herself to a crew; this one would be no different, but this time, she knew the best way to do it. She'd hold her ground. "Echo Massano. I'm your new co-pilot, and apparently, temporary pilot." There was no teasing in her voice, but no imposition as well. She knew how to respect someone without groveling.

Tom looked her over, this new co-pilot that he was going to have to deal with. He was curious how well she flew, if she could handle Cressida. It wasn't that she was a hard ship to fly, this girl did not know the ins and outs of the ship like he did. He knew how hard he could push her without making Rora yell at him. "Not my choice," he muttered. "Captain's been wanting to get a co-pilot for some time now." His blue eyes looked darker than they actually were. "I'm not going to like you until you prove yourself."

Echo shrugged casually, as if she dealt with that kind of situation everyday. "That's understandable, really. I'm not expecting you to bend me over backwards and lay a big one on me, so, just hold judgement 'til I fly, and then we can decide how much we like each other."

((Ack... sorry about the delay... life is catching up with me))

She was too calm about this and it angered Tom a little. He wanted someone he could scare, someone he could make known that this is his ship to fly and there was no way she was just going to walk in here and take it over without getting a fight from him, but yet, she seemed to already know those things and it did not look like he was intimidating her. "Fine," he muttered, not happy at all. He was not sure if he wanted a co-pilot that could actually handle him or one that feared him. "We'll see how this all goes." He paused and glanced at the ship. "Any wrong move that hurts the ship and you're going to get hell."

"Probably from more than just you." Echo smirked. "Everyone seems pretty attached to her." He seemed tense. The crew that she'd met so far all seemed the way, and she couldn't quite nail down what was happening to cause it. Then, she was new, so it wasn't her place to know. She might be allowed into their little club later. As for now, she'd deal with getting to know the Cressida.

LoL, is all good. ;)

"Yeah, I'd watch out if I were you," he said, very serious about it. It was probably the only good piece of advice she'd get from him. "Everyone here's protective and one little thing wrong, you'll find yourself stranded on some random plant and you best hope that I don't get to pick it." This co-pilot did not know anything about this ship and she was not going to learn it all in a day, but Tom would probably judge her just as harshly. "If we weren't grounded and I could call shots, I'd tell you to fly her now, just so I know if I'm going to hate you or not."

Echo nodded. "I haven't flown a ship like this one before, but the one I had was larger. I think she'll run pretty nice. She's kept better than any ship I've ever seen." Leaning back in her chair, she smiled. "I'd love to fly her now. I miss the black."
