Fi's eyes narrowed once again and she looked around for something to through at him. Sadly there wasn't much. Things that were loose tended to fly around when they needed to make a hasty exit so everything got bolted down and put away just to be safe. "Don't owe you nothin' wasn't in on the bet. If I was I would have hedged it for the greatest gain," She admitted the last part with an offhand shrug and took more alcohol. Things were looking up, her body was mostly numb now. |

"Then, prepare to die," he said, but he didn't move. Eh, he really was not going do anything. People found things out and while, he wasn't sure he was not happy about it, there was not really anything he could do. "I'm not paying you anything either." He could feel the effects of throwing back so many shots already. It wasn't bad, he was not wasted just yet, but his judgment would have been impaired if he could have or was flying. He dropped his good hand underneath the table and placed it on Fi's leg, giving it a light squeeze and then moved it back up to the table. |

Fi had an uncharacteristically soft small smile on her face. No one could see it but Tom had squeezed her knee under the table. While it might not be much to most, it was a big thing between the two of them. The smallest gestures were the ones that held the most feelings and she liked the he wanted to tell her he wasn't all that upset, not really. She kept the smile on her face as she watched the young man for a few moments before pouring them each another shot. "I think he's just trying to hide the fact that we're out drinking him," Fi informed him, looking over at Jay, her smile turning back into a playful smirk.

"Out drinking me!" Jay smiled and downed the shot before reaching to the deck under the table and picking up two empty bottles, the saki and another whiskey. "I've been here longer than you two amateurs." He gestured at Fi, talking to Tom. "Taught this one everything she knows. Had her first drink in the 12th yah know." He poured the next round and passed them around. |

Fi took the offered glass and downed it with a grin. She smirked over at the man that had taught her to shoot. She raised a single eyebrow and glanced over at Tom. "I was 15 and trashed after 2 beers and a shot. The little I remember includes being convinced I could take out all the purple bellies on my own if they gave me a chance. Then everything magically went dark," She shrugged innocently and then turned back to Jay. "But trust me, you didn't teach me everything I know," |

Jay offered a look of mock horror. "Of course I didn't teach you everything! What a scandalous thing to suggest." He addressed Tom again. "I hope you know what you are getting into here with this one. Worst mind in the entire company, and she was the youngest." He smiled and looked back to Fi. "Though she did have a lot of aunts and uncles to shape her in the manner in which she should grow." |

"My aunts and uncles were most accommodating in teaching me any vice I was interested in," She informed them smugly. When you mix a young girl with a sarcastic streak a mile wide with a group of soldiers that miss home and loved her attitude ... well she personally liked the way she'd grown up. Some people might think she was a little rude or bloodthirsty, but she simply didn't beleive in hiding those things behind false words. |

"Aint that the truth." Jay smiled. He had considered the young Fi somewhat of a little sister, and when they parted all those years ago before Serenity Valley, he honestly hadn't expected to run into her again. Teach them all you know...send em' out into the world. That was his philosophy. All told, looking at her now, he was proud of the woman that the 12/5th had produced. All of them would be proud of her, could they see her now. He raised his glass, smiling at Fi, than becoming somber. "A toast......to those friends among us...and to those friends that are still out there, in the black or on some forgotten rock, never to return. Their memory lives on, through us and in our hearts." |

Tom just smirked. "You have, but that means I'll have to drink more to even catch up." It was interesting to hear the stories between Jay and Fi since it gave somewhat of a history. He was still smirking when Jay addressed him again. "I think I'll able to handle myself," he replied to the comment about hoping that he knew what he was getting himself into. He glanced over at Fi, trying to picture her back then, but it was hard since he had not known her again and the alcohol starting to course through his system might have had some part in it as well. At Jay's toast, he raised his glass as well. |

As someone who was frequently unhappy unless there was something, or someone to worry about, Coralyn felt quite restless when Aurora had gone back to sleep and she had a brief reprieve in her duty. So she’d gone down to the site of the explosion to help, in the few ways she could. Cleaning wounds, setting up torques and similar little trivial activities that seemed to be appreciated. Now she was tired again and decided that some kind of sustenance would be needed before Dr. Lancaster had to scoop her off the floor in a dead faint. Walking into the galley, she seemed to have caught the three crewmates at something of a pivotal moment, a toast to be exact. “I’m sorry.” She murmured awkwardly as she crossed to fetch herself some fruit. “Be out of your way in a moment.” |

Fi raised a suggestive eyebrow at Tom when he said he could handle himself. "I'll put that to the test," Then she was caught up in the toast that Jay was giving, raising her glass and sucked it down. "Always and Forever," She agreed with an uncharacteristically somber look on her face. She decided it was easier to simply ignore the little doctor that had just come in, but then thought better of it. She needed to make nice according to the Cap'n, and she had just helped save Rora's life. "If you're hungry I made some stirfry, it's still warm," She didn't look at the woman as she poured another round. |

Always and Forever..... Jay repeated. He threw back the shot and they all sat there in silence for a few minutes. Coralyn walked in and Jay smiled as Fi offered her some of the stirfry that she had made earlier. It was an uncharacteristic move for the tiny blonde, Jay thought it was a good improvement. "Cora...come on over, grab a seat." He poured four shots and pushed out another chair for the young doctor with his foot. |

Cora lingered for a moment, pondering the matter. She really wanted to get back to work, but at the same time, she knew that even a remote bond with her crew was better than nothing at this early stage. She felt odd talking to Jay after their strange and dramatic afternoon, but Fi had offered her food. HER food. She was hungry.. and they couldn't really afford to waste fresh fruit. The pros outweighed the cons. She had to sit. "Alright, thank you. But just for a few minutes." She agreed, perching delicately on the edge of a seat and dishing herself out a small portion. "And no, Jay, it's terribly kind of you but not for me." She added pushing one of the shots away from her. She'd never really taken to alcohol, especially not when she was meant to be working. |

Fi held in a few choice comments that she knew would likely get her kicked on a good day. Of course it wasn't a good day so she might not get kicked after all. Fi downed her own shot and then picked up Cardew's and took that one as well, smiling at the other woman. "Waste not, want not," She leaned back and studied the taller woman for a few moments. "Do you not like Saki? Or do you not drink?" She asked curiously, wondering what would have to happen to get the woman drunk. Fi was a relatively tame drunk, a little violent with a tendency to laugh a lot, but tame. She didn't spout off secrets and she didn't lose control. |

“I drink.” Coralyn protested a bit weakly. Twice. Well, three times if you counted the toast at her sisters wedding... “I just don’t think I have a very high tolerance. That’s all.” Feeling a little guilty, after all, this did seem to be something of a popular crew activity, she tucked into the meal Fi had prepared. “Thank you, Miss Grant, this is just what I needed.” She added, with a tiny smile, an even tinier part of her wondering if it was poisoned. No, surely that would be a less than practical way to get rid of her... Cora watched wide-eyed as the petite blonde knock the shot back like it was nothing but water, feeling some relief. After all, someone had to maintain a clear head. She’d never tested it, but she suspected that resetting bones and performing the occasional surgeries would be hindered slightly by inebriation. |

Jay noted with amusement the rejected drink, and the fact that Fi took it upon herself to make sure the saki didnt go to waste. He poured another round, the bottle all but empty at this point, and looked over at Coralyn. "Hows the patient?" There was a hint of concern in his voice. |

Fi raised an eyebrow as she looked at Jay when he let the concern creep into his voice. Then she turned to stare at the woman who had his current attention. Sure, she was taking care of her best friend, but she knew that Doc had made sure she wouldn't die any time soon. After all, Fi had just recently run away from there. "bruised and broken," Fi told him dryly, looking at him with a rather bland expression. Sure she was being unhelpful, but it was fun so she didn't care. |

Tom gave Fi a grin at the mention of her putting that to the test. He drank his shot after the toast and glanced over at the new doctor as she entered. He thought it was a little amusing at how Fi treated her and how the girl acted, not oblivious... but a little more naive than Tom was used to. Tom raised an eyebrow when the doctor didn't accept the drink and he couldn't help but snicker at the look she had when Fi drank it instead. He kept quiet at Jay's question about Rora, this was nothing Tom needed to get into. ((blah... I know he didn't talk or anything, just hadn't posted anything in a few posts)) |
