![]() Mana4X2 started out like any other X-Men RPG. Interested ones joined, took up characters, and helped to continue the Fan Fiction Mana4X2 picked up from. Some stayed. Others disappeared, some coming back after real life stopped kicking them in the butt. Characters grew. Writers grew. The site had to be edited, defined, and reorganized to compensate. From Yahoo Groups, we moved to EzBoards. From EzBoards, we moved, and settled right into, InvisionFree. From no applications to desperately needing them. From no rules to having the need to define them for the advantage of everyone. It has been proven over and over that new sites die, because real life takes over the time of those wanting so badly to be a part of it. Others, survive, and now a whole unique look and celebrating our 5th Year Anniversary later, Mana4X2;; An X-Men RPG has proven to be one of them. With four definitive factions, we have created a universe that is thriving. Even though we have found it hard to find people to play the bad guys, we came up with ways to make it work, those of the Brotherhood who wished to now either a part of The Hellfire Club, or Mana4X2’s own concept created bad guy faction, Damien-Myne Enterprises or DME. And now, thanks to a site wide plot that has completely blown everyone away and given the site a brand new direction, our little universe has gotten even better! PLOT: They had worked so hard to make the perfect killing machine. To create it from scratch. To take and alter. To force and coerce. They had thought themselves proud to be ready long in advance. Ready to unlock the cages and, under the direct orders of the Leaders of the Friends of Humanity, send them into the field, where every mutant in New York City would be their targets. They had succeeded in what they had set out to do, but none of them could have imagined how wrong they could be, because, in giving the most efficient of hunters a brain on par with a humans, they gave them the capacity to think;; to learn;; to decide for themselves they no longer wanted to follow the exact thing they had been made for. It grew and festered, the grown from scratch watching and waiting, observing and learning, determined to break free and eradicate every single living human being. X-Gene or no X-Gene, young or old, male or female - they turned on their creators, tore them apart, and escaped into the dankness of the sewers beneath New York City. From 7:11PM and for three hours solid, the barking began, spreading the word until every part of New York State was reached. Many noticed. Some just shrugged and got on with their lives, and when all fell silent once again, the news reports about this odd canine behavior began to cease and desist completely. No one in their right mind could have anticipated what happened next, except for the creators, the ones that’d been taken out of the Good Dog Animal Shelter in body bags over three hours earlier, even as the animals that’d killed them all disappeared from sight, preparing for what was to come next. Out of the shadows growls began, midair leaps carrying them to targets who didn’t have the time to comprehend what was happening, let alone that every dog in New York was now turning on the very people who thought them always to be Man’s Best Friend. Panic and death spread quickly. Governmental retaliation was slow, yet as quickly as it could be considering it took time to quarantine an entire city, by both land and water and everything in between. In the time it took to do just that, mutants and humans fought for their lives, protected those they loved, and died trying to be the hero they never for one moment thought they’d ever have to be. Others went down because of the sheer determination to live by a motto that did not exist among the X-Men - Look out only for oneself. Do whatever it takes to survive. Metlinque was one of those, lost under the feet of a panicking crowd, trampled to death, and dying in his older brother’s arms. Many rose to a challenge no one could ever imagine could ever exist;; faced off with an opponent that shouldn’t have been doing this with no remorse, no mercy, just the one focus… to kill. It wasn’t fair and it wasn’t right, but the time for finding out who was behind it would come later. X-Men fought side by side, with other mutants they’d never met before. A young pregnant stranger put her life on the line to help stop the canines from getting to those on a transport that should have been a safe haven for those within, while another well known pregnant woman, due to the stress caused by the situation, went into labor back at the Xavier mansion. Strength was shown. True nature became a reality. Everyone with the same exact goal: Kill the canines before they killed them and anyone left within New York City. The Government sent in SHIELD and the National Guard, announcing helicopter evacs at strategic points across the state. X-Men moved in to help them. Other factions move in to help themselves. When the order came for retreat, the X-Men refused to be moved, as General Nicholas Fury knew they would. In half an hour control of the city would be taken completely;; in less than ten minutes of that Dr Hank McCoy and Professor Charles Xavier informed the team in the field who to go after. Immediately, they sprang into action, and with Striker’s help, her Telezoic powers key in assuring the coerced, and some of the taken and altered, that it was alright to turn on the pack leaders, that if they didn’t, there was every chance their knew alpha female in panther form would make them do it anyway. In another ten or so minutes, SHIELD returned, guns let loose once again, specific genetic DNA, sent to them by the Professor, programmed into weapons far beyond what the military possessed. Mutants with powers;; humans with guns, grenade launchers, and the knowledge they needed to retake control of the entire situation. To stop the carnage long after it had begun. Time past, but no one truly took notice of just how long until the word had officially spread - the last of the pack leaders was gone, the taken and altered were in the process of being rounded up and captured, and the coerced were reverting back to normal dog behavior. At 4:59AM, Thursday, December 1st, 2005, the killing was over, but the clean-up had only just begun. New reports began spreading across the different forms of media, speeches about hope, and the strength to get through this and keep going. Soon after that, the update that until the dead had been gathered off the streets and out of every home and building;; until all of the above had been thoroughly searched;; no one that was still currently outside of New York would be allowed back in again. For those still within New York, if they could go home, they should. The X-Men, and the mutant strangers that had decided to go back with them, had the school to return to, where the shield that’d been protecting it had long ago been turned off;; where the next week would be spent repairing the damage that had been caused by powers used in an attempt to protect everyone within. The government promised, that, after everyone had first been identified, surviving family members would be given the option of burying their own dead, or handing them over to the paid-for mass funerals they knew many would not have any other option but to take advantage of. Within a day, New York would return to normal once again. Within many weeks or months, the physical damage could be repaired. As for the emotional affects… forever is a very long time. The plot may be over, but the after affects have only just begun… Rules. Applications. Available Canons. Affiliates. |
