Figured I should start this one out, try and get a bit more out there for our newest ship. Andromeda, Andi to her friends, has been Captain of the Simiao since it was added to the Blue Sun Science Division 5 years ago. She runs a tidy ship, everything has a place and everyone has a job, even the kids. She is a captain and a mother, which comes first depends on the situation though Isis will usually win. Some basic things about Andi: 1 - She is playful and enjoys having fun, but you will respect her and she in turn will respect you. She knows how to do her job and she takes care of her crew. If you cross her or hurt one of hers, well she isn't a pacifist. 2 - Andi will not tolerate talks of insurgence or war. One war was more than enough for her to live through and she doesn't want any of the kids to ever have to fight or worry about their loved ones. 3 - She's a very tactile, patting people on the back, giving hugs, smacking someone upside the head. She is also very passionate. When docked planet-side she likes to stay for the night so she can meet someone and have a bit of fun. She's loving and open and will answer questions that the people ask her with complete frankness. 4 - She doesn't like liars, she doesn't like child abusers, and she doesn't like being told she can't do something. She has a lot of energy, she's always moving. She is loud, laughing yelling and joking constantly. The only time she goes silent is when she's extremely worried or really pissed off. 5 - She likes pretty clothes and pretty weapons, using both as needed. Often her clothing might be considered inappropriate to the more close-minded and reserved, but she's comfortable and likes the attention that she can get while wearing it. |

Well, Fritz here... He's probably been on the ship for about four years, so plenty of time to get to know everyone. Regardless, he's much more comfortable with the "servant" types: security, mechanics, cooks, caretaker... The other personal make him nervous. - Fritz is a okay mechanic, nothing more. He much prefers singing, and does so often. He does only the jobs required of him, and he doesn't love it or anything. - He's raising his two nieces and nephew after their mother left them. He's a good uncle, but that doesn't make him a good father. - He's a romantic person. He has big ideals and pictures in his head of the way things should go and people should act, and he's always disappointed when they don't follow through. Andromeda I imagine Fritz would be rather distant with the captain. He would do what was asked of him, nothing more, and not try and cause a fuss. She's a station above him, and he gets nervous around those people. |

Sammy's turn. Though no one calls him that besides his siters. Lets see. Sam's probably been on the ship a few years. Its probably really the longest time he's spent on a single ship. He probably still isn't really close with some of the people though just because of his somewhat formal personality. 1. He is very tidy when he isn't working. Always cleanshaven and dressed in nice clothes that would look silly on Firefly but slightly more fitting on Simiao. 2. When he is working he gets completly absorbed in it. He switches to old jeans, work boots, and slightly tattered t-shirts. He has constant smudges and even sometimes talks without his usual propriety. 3. His word is unbreakable. He has gotten in big trouble before because he refused to break his word. 4. He is a family guy. He has eight siblings, four of them being sisters and all of them younger. (Though one is just a few minutes younger being that they are twins.) So he likes that there are so many kids on the ship. Lets see. Andromeda He admires her for her position as captain and for her taking her daughter with her. He's known people who would have left the kids with relatives or at some school. He probably won't be bestest friends with her but he is able to relax a bit more than he would normally because of the aformentioned duaghter. Fritz He likes Fritz well enough. He does find the guy a bit annoying in his lack of real passion for the job. He tends to find himself looking at Fritz as an assistant more than a full co-mechanic. |

Ashni's been on board for less than a year and her unfamiliarity with the vagaries of spaceship living is apparent to even the casual observer. She is making an effort to adapt with varying levels of success. She's only started to really come out of her shell recently, within the last couple of months at most. She's a little bookish and if she's not checking the cortex for her dailyish dose of gossip and fashion news, she's reading something or other. Overall she's laid back and easy to get along with, unless someone makes a special effort to get on her case about anything. Notes on Ashni: -The more 'civilized' the person, the more at-ease Ashni is. She's still laboring under the assumption that roughnecks and others who haven't lived in the core for their entire lives are probably all burgeoning criminals waiting for an opportunity to revolt and overthrow their Alliance oppressors. Heaven forfend she meets a proud browncoat-she'd probably pass right out. -If it's ever come up, in the thick of a fight, Ashni is scenery. She runs, she hides, she avoids violence with all of the fervor of a woman who's never dealt with pain worse than a bruised elbow. Once the fighting's passed, however, she can handle the resulting injuries just fine. -As a doctor, she has a controlled, quiet bedside manner-she can maintain an aura of calm through anything short of arterial spray to the face. She works efficiently and she will not take 'I'll walk it off' for an answer. She's also very big on aftercare and will check up on every injury large and small to make sure her patient is healing properly. -People who were big fans of her brother, Pradeep, might recognize her from old candid shots of him. She doesn't talk about him or the reason she had to leave the core, being very vague if it gets brought up. -She misses her daughters quite a bit and really enjoys any opportunity to spend time with the kids on the ship. -She's a bit of a mother-hen, making sure everyone's eating properly, getting enough sleep, etc. etc. etc.. She doesn't force the issue, but she can't help but comment. Andromeda: Someone else who enjoys the prettier things in life, who likes to dress up fancy and attention getting? Where can Ashni sign up? The Captain's boisterous nature intimidates Ashni a little, but she's not so concerned that she avoids Andromeda completely. Fritz: Fritz is a conundrum to Ashni. She's positive he's one of those non-central-planet folk, but he doesn't seem to be brimming with savage impulses. This is a touch confusing, and so she's a little more reserved around him. Samuel: Samuel is less confusing than Fritz. He's clearly risen above his border-planet upbringing to become a respectful, honorable person. She doesn't mind him at all, though she doesn't specifically seek out his company either. |

I guess it's my turn now. Léon is the newcomer to Simiao, and has been aboard only for a short amount of time. So, naturally, he hasn't had a lot of time for interaction with the crew. He is reading up on the entire crew, trying to get a feel for the problems he will face. Unused to being posted on a ship so...safe, he is unsure of exactly what his job will entail. He is pretty approachable, as he's always calm, and usually has a minute to talk if one needs it. As long as you're not threatening him, or a member of the crew, he is a kind person. Notes: 1) Léon is a seasoned war veteran, and therefore, has seen, and has dealt with just about everything, ranging from gunfights to screaming children. Although he may lose his temper at times, it's usually hard to phase him. 2) One thing Léon cannot stand are medics who heal, but have not been hurt themselves. He feels that there is a certain touch that a medic can add, if he's been through a similar experience. Reassuring doctors don't really help when you're hurt, but advice from a veteran does, especially when they have the scar to prove that they've gone through it themselves. 3) Léon sees himself as an adviser and mentor first, and a security officer second. He doesn't want his job to stand in the way of helping others. 4) Léon can switch from "kind, old man" to someone you don't want to mess with very quickly. He prefers to use persuasion rather than the twin Peacemakers on his hips. But cross him, and he can guarantee that you will regret it. Andromeda: Léon can certainly appreciate her vitality, and her driving spirit. However, he feels that he'll be stuck cleaning up the messes she creates. He certainly hopes that he can coax her out of some of her more...endangering habits. Fritz: Léon respects Fritz for taking care of his family. However, the lack of spirit shown often makes Léon wonder if there's something deeper, something hidden, that Fritz doesn't want known. He observes their conversations carefully, trying to seek it. Samuel: Léon appreciates the efficiency and form that Samuel displays. Though he doesn't know him well, Léon likes him well enough, and is friendly to him. Ashni: As mentioned before, Léon doesn't like Medics without firsthand experience, and this includes Ashni. Although she may be quite skilled and efficient, he still can't respect her fully. However, he does remain cordial to her, since he is required to interact with her frequently, especially when serving as a field medic. |

My turn. =D Ranmaru's relatively new to the ship, having been on it for around four months. He's adapted to the scenery, saying little, keeping to himself and causing little trouble as possible. As a male companion paired with his cold demeanor, people generally don't like him unless they're using his services. He has no qualms to servicing others on the ship, if they request and pay, but generally they find it a bad idea. He is entirely certified, well known on the central planets. Notes: 1. If Ranmaru is giving you any sort of attention, positive or negative, even just momentarily, he has respect for you. Otherwise, he will just ignore you and consider you not worthy of his time. If he likes you, he'll generally mess with your head, whereas if he just tolerates you he'll be civil. 2. He will mess you up. Although the scars across his body that people can see are faint, they are strange for a Companion-let alone one who had been raised in a well-off home on the Central planets. He comes across as one to mess with you mentally and emotionally, unable to physically fight, but he is quite adept in combat. However, it takes quite a lot-generally his own life at stake-for him to get to that point, liking being underestimated and watching the surprises. 3. His own well-being comes before anything else. He has no other loyalty, not for the Alliance or Independents, not even to the ship itself. Only because his safety lies on the ship does he have any interest. He is not ashamed to admit this, preferring people to know rather than feeling betrayed. His own happiness, his own ideas and just self always comes first. 4. As distant as Ranmaru seems to be, when meeting with a client he transforms into an entirely different person. Warm, welcoming, even the crew is drawn to him-or at least thinking somewhat better of him then before, generally. The mood doesn't go away instantly, either, staying for a few days after wards. Slowly dying away, but he's much more approachable than usual, even slightly sociable. Andromeda Far too loud for Ranmaru's taste, but he has much respect for her. Even besides the fact she's the captain, she's able to back her words up, and he admires the fact she deeply cares for the crew. They generally stay out of each others way, since having a Companion on the ship among the children already puts Andromeda on edge. He stays away from them, of course, but there's still tension and honest distaste between them, mingled with mutual respect. Fritz Ranmaru dislikes Fritz's romantic attitude, on general principle with only slight backing with his profession. However, he really can't say more about it, since they don't talk. Ranmaru keeps to himself and hardly says anything at all, while Fritz doesn't talk much to anyone above the 'servant' class, especially since Ranmaru is such a recent addition. Sam The clean care in Sam's appearance instantly makes Ranmaru respect him more, or at least think decently of him. The way he speaks, the way he holds himself, much more civilized. Clearly, Ranmaru hasn't seen him working, and has no intention to. They aren't close at all, civil to one another, but little if any more. The idea of Sam's "honor" though Ranmaru finds incredibly stupid, but since he hasn't seen it in action he's optimistic in the sense maybe it's just dramatic. It's just so dumb, for a seemingly civilized and educated man, Ranmaru finds it hard to believe. Ashni Both coming from the same planet, they have a similar background, although her ideas of outer-planetary people are too dramatic even for Ranmaru's taste. Open-minded with little shocking him, he can't help but mess with Ashni, especially with her mother-hen nature. Strangely enough, as the two newbies on the ship (he joined only a few months after her) they got along well at first, as long as his profession wasn't mentioned. However, he's pushed the envelope one too many times with her, and she probably thinks he has some sort of grudge when it's just his distant way of showing some affection. Léon An even newer addition to the ship than Ranmaru, Ranmaru keeps his distance. He doesn't trust anyone with the Alliance, having helped a friend evade them for so long after her traumatic experience. Never one to begin a relationship, Ranmaru is quite content just keeping a casual eye on him. |

Guess it's my turn to wield the character exposition microphone! Caleb has been with the ship for a year and knows most of the perpetually employed crew. All the newcomers working outside of the lab are merely acquaintances, those within his sphere of work however can summarize that stoicism and odd sense of humor makes up the frame of his initial persona. He tends to be fairly detatched but moves about with a demure vaguely underlining his damaged interior. He can be very condescending at times, his core-bred attitude has made him at a loss as to how to deal with 'commoners'. This is more of a subconscious reaction to blue-collar types, rather than a conscious prejudice. While he may appear well moneyed, Caleb is a veteran of the unification war and witness to a plethora of soul crushing sights. His intensity wanes when not discussing work or on the job. Behind the mask of a stuck up blue-blood, a stone cold killer happily leaps into the driver's seat when the situation is deemed necessary. By the same means, he'll go to heroic lengths for those he's fond of. Andromeda With their directly opposing demeanors, it was an easy call to say that the Captain and Caleb would clash. Instead, it seems to be more of a complimentary concoction. Her expressive and occasionally absurdest repartee was balanced carefully by Caleb's desert dry larks and constructively derisive wit. Caleb respects her to a high degree and will follow her orders without thinking a terrible lot about it. He would describe their interaction as a professional friendship. Fritz and Samuel Fritz, Samuel, and Caleb work on the same ship. This is the only knowledge that Caleb has absorbed on the two mechanics and their particular drama. They may as well be calling one another by their job titles and avoiding eye contact in the hallway, though it's not quite that bad. Fritz simply doesn't seem comfortable around Caleb. The good doctor decided early on that breaking through social and societal barriers is very exhausting work. Samuel he knows only slightly better and considers him a bit of a boy scout. Ashni It wasn't very long ago that the Simaio recieved the academically appealing doctor from Ariel, but in a short amount of time, Caleb has taken a shine to her. Her sometimes awkward social graces mirror his own minor disabilities in the area. They both come from a similarly luxurious background and this has sped the process of friendship between them. He finds she's quite handy for deep intellectual exchanges and perhaps even a pinch of accidental flirtation. Léon While Leon is quite new and a bit older than him, the two have more in common than they do different. For one, time served as a medic in the unification war. He's one of the few who had seen the true horrors of war and come out relatively unscathed. If Caleb were likely to open up about that part of his life to anyone, it would be him. Ranmaru Ranmaru is a manipulative hedonist in Caleb's eyes and he's quite sure he's not far off in consensus reality. He has a twisted admiration of the effectiveness of those qualities in him. But it also causes Caleb to be more cautious around the companion than he is around others. He's quite civil to the man and doesn't view him as an enemy or even a particularly unlikable sort. He simply doesn't want to get within back stabbing distance. |
