[title]Physical Description[/title] Height: 5'.25" Build: Petite and lean Hair Color: Blond Eye Color: Dark Gray-blue Noticeable Features: Most known for her intense eyes and her smirk Seraphina is an unquestioned beauty who has no problem disguising herself as someone else. Her long blond hair, when left natural is loosely waved and falls just past her shoulder blades. Fi has a lot of scars from a lot of different fights. She has a large ugly scar that meanders from her right hip bone to just above her belly button, from a time someone failed to gut her. Tiny white lines spiderweb across her hands and forearms from a lifetime of knife fighting. She has a newer scar on her right side from where the Doc had to fix her punctured lung. There is a 3 inch perfectly straight scar on the underside of her left upper arm and various more that she sometimes forgets about. Fi favors jeans and form fitting shirts with vests over the top and her trusty boots with the built in knife sheaths. She openly carries guns on her person, but she's better with the knives that aren't as noticeable. (average outfit) The knives themselves are always in extremely good condition. Perfectly weighted, sharpened and always clean. She firmly believes that if you want to use a weapon you should know how to take care of it. She herself buys knives in bad condition and fixes them for her own use. More than once she has used one of her weapons as a form of bartering and has no problem parting with most of her blades, though there are a few she wouldn't give up. [title]Psyche Evolution[/title] Seraphina is an intelligent, sarcastic, fun loving young woman with a dark sense of humor and a biting wit. When she sets her mind on something she works at it until it's accomplished. Sometimes she focuses too hard and misses things going on around her. Such as life. Something that Fi has trouble with is expressing her emotions properly. Her mother often told her when she was young that showing emotion was weak and she tried her best to be as tough as she perceived her mother to be. Often she lashes out with violence when scared, angry, irritated, etc. It can confuse people sometimes because they aren't sure what she's thinking or going to do. It's the same problem when the woman gets stressed out and upset. She doesn't deal well with change or surprises and often has problems sleeping when faced with highly stressful situations. Rather than taking medications she pushes herself physically, trying to wear herself out until she passes out from exhaustion. She also loses her appetite (and often also loses weight she can't afford to lose) and still doesn't sleep well enough. The lack of sleep, proper nutrients and physical exhaustion makes her more prone to snapping at people and can sometimes make her rage far more than she normally would. On a few occasions it's sent her into berserker rages that ended in a few unfortunate deaths. Not many realize that Fi is rather open about all of this. She doesn't sugarcoat anything, including herself. She says what she means and what she plans to do. She doesn't lie giving the choice, though she will omit anything she doesn't want to share with the class. She's honest in a way that most people aren't and it's somewhat refreshing though very few get close enough to realize this about her. Fi is adept at using her looks to get her what she wants, be that causing someone to underestimate her and making them think they have a chance with her in some other way. She can disguise herself as someone else completely if she needs to, and has done so many times to get into or out of things. It also helps that despite her violent tendencies she's so petite most men just don't want to beleive she could be dangerous and she long ago perfected innocent eyes to play off this belief. Being blond, blue eyed, and rather tiny it is easy enough to disappear in a crow: whether literally slipping behind larger people or looking lost and scared so no one picks you out of the lineup. Dealing in both information and material goods Fi long ago made a name for herself and she has since kept that name at the top of the dog pile. Through her contacts in the Black Market and various other shady dealings she can get just about anything someone asks her for, but everything comes at a price. A steep price occasionally. Especially if she doesn't like you. She's good at what she does because she refuses to allow herself to be anything less than the best she can be at anything she wants to be or needs to be. The woman's intense focus and unwillingness to lose was what got her through her 4 months of imprisonment by the Core Military, being held on multiple counts and questioned daily for information she may or may not know of the whispered rebellion and her own mothers whereabouts. It was just this side of torture, the way she was treated, and she was always quick to point out how they could go the distance if they liked. If they slipped up and killed her it would mean that she wouldn't have to worry about holding on one more day. Because above all Fi is loyal and she got through those 4 months by telling herself "one more day" over and over until suddenly she didn't have to worry about it. Sometimes she still has nightmares about her time there, and it's made her a bit more ruthless when it comes to the idea of being caught. She will never go through that process again, no matter what she has to do to avoid. This time her mother wont be able to come save her. The petite blond has a quick burning temper, but she can also hold a grudge. She's filled with rage against the verse but tries to hide it as best she can. She's a 'hit first' kind of girl and doesn't bother trying to hide it. She doesn't keep much in the way of things. Everything she truly values can fit into a small duffel bag, everything else is inconsequential and completely replaceable should she need to make a quick getaway. Her ruthless "the cause comes first" mentality makes her seem cold and unfriendly. It also scares people. Of course this is with good reason as Fi's mind often races through the best ways to kill someone and/or dispose of the remains without being caught. Her first reaction to danger is to kill the person posing the danger in the first place. It is a simple solution that often comes with less danger than trying to keep someone quiet. She has no problem 'questioning' someone the rough way if she has to, but she would rather just kill them straight out. With her background it's no wonder the girl has a hard time trusting people. Once you're in her good graces you aren't there for good, you can lose that trust and it's even harder to get a second chance with her. If you are crew she will fight for you and protect you with all she has. If you aren't then she wont put forth an effort on your behalf given a choice in the matter. Being on the Cressida so long people have started to grow on her though. Her relationship with Tom is a bit awkward sometimes but it gives her a safety net of sorts because she is learning to open up a tiny bit. [title]Personal Records[/title] Growing up on Dora was an adventure on it's own for a girl like Seraphina. The moon was like the bastard brother of the planet it circled. Where Lazarus was semi-respectable as the last of the Core plants, the last pit stop on the way out of Dodge. Dora was the black market waylay station that no one talked about. You could find anything you wanted or needed, or someone to find it, for a price. The whole moon, just like it's planet, was a landing port that had been said to resemble the atmosphere of Persephone's Eavesdown Docks. Her parents, Francis and Clyde, were well respected and Fi had run of the entire neighborhood. She ruled her fellow children, leading them into and out of scrapes as a child, helping taunt the few Core Ships that had the audacity to stop in her domain. Though her mother was rarely home and her father sometimes left randomly through her childhood only to bring back the injured blond that was Francis Grant, Fi knew that they loved and adored her. Whenever she asked why they left she was given the same answer; Mommy was making the Verse a better place but she couldn't do it alone, so sometimes Daddy needed to help. She was smart enough to know that the business was why her mother was injured, but she never caught her parents arguing. Not once. They had a soft look they shared for each other alone, thought they looked at Fi with something close to that. Fi grew up a free soul who's parents encouraged being and doing what you wanted. Her parents' anti-establishment views were well known and everyone knew they wouldn't put up with pro-Alliance talk. So when she was 12 years old her father joined the Browncoats to stop the unification and her mother disappeared off with on another trip, leaving Fi with the neighborhood grandmothers to pass her about with fond grief. The idea that someone who didn't care about the Rim worlds would try to force ideals that didn't fit their societies bothered Fi and she was loud in her approval of her father and mother who, though not in the army, was helping in any way she could. Fi helped her mother run move weapons, food, clothing and all sorts of other things that were needed for their troops whenever she was home long enough for Fi to feel useful. Even when Francis wasn't home her contacts knew her tiny daughter and were happy to use her as a cover when possible. They also knew better than to let the child get injured, though Fi hadn't realized that it was their constant vigilance that was keeping her safe. 2 years later Alliance Military ships began docking on Lazarus. They'd chosen Core Alliance rather than destroy their trade. Her mother traveled their for two weeks before coming home and telling Fi that they had a new mission. Not everyone on Lazarus wanted the Core on their planet after all. She already knew of death. Civil war is never pretty and never without blood. She learned a lot from a lot of shady people. Including knife handling, something her mother wasn't very happy about. They left Dora and started traveling. Francis traveled Rim worlds, evading Core Military and collecting guns and ammunition wherever possible. At 14 years old Fi and her Mother were captured on Argabuthon during a raid of a Military Weapons Cache. The guards made the mistake of assuming, since Fi was a small girl, that she wasn't dangerous. It was true that she wasn't as dangerous as the others, but she was dangerous enough. Especially when the guards didn't check her thoroughly enough. They'd missed the knife in her left boot. She'd managed to take down the guard at her door through sheer surprise. She wasn't sure if he was dead or not, but she was too scared to check. It wasn't hard for a smart girl like Fi to get into the inter-system and hack the door locks to let out all the prisoners. She helped her mother's crew confine the soldiers, take the weapons, and blow the entire facility. At 14 Fi was a wanted Felon. Her childhood continued in that vein. She racked up quite the rap sheet for herself while she stayed with her mother, but she truly believed in the cause. Just after her fifteenth birthday her mother visited Hera and was asked to join the 5th Company and Francis brought her daughter with her. Though she was young and awfully tiny, Fi was a ferocious fighter and willing to do all she could. She'd already masted the blade, but she wasn't so good with guns. A young private, one Jay Andhek, offered to teach her how to shoot. Already having excellent hand eye coordination Fi learned quickly. She stayed with them though her mother moved on a year later. She was young, blond, pretty, petite, and a vicious ice-eyed soldier. Many Alliance Soldiers made the mistake of hesitating to pull the trigger and she was quick to make sure it was the last mistake they ever made. She was good with a gun, better with her knives and she had a lot of them. She learned to scrounge from the dead all that she could. Fi managed to live through the Siege of Du Khang and then they were back on Hera and skirmishing, harassing supply depots and patrols. In the middle of it word came from on high that Fi was needed for another op. She was sad to go, but tired to the bone of mud and blood. She left and joined up with her mother. The news of Serenity Battle was a hard blow to both she and her mother. Her father, Clyde, didn't make it through his last stand. It was the beginning of the end. Worlds caved, people signed the treaties and the Core took over. Fi was livid. Her mother was crushed. Then her mother was bitter. Francis Grant joined the resistance as soon as she was able to search it out (it didn't take long.) She was angry at the Verse and wanted to take out the core. Fi, at 17, was set up with a new identity, Fiona Carey. She was sent to Persephone to go to school as a communication specialist. She was smart, she was willing and Fi actually liked the classes. She was also on a Core world and able to get a lot of information from a lot of places that her mother couldn't get to. After all, who would suspect a petite little thing like Fi of espionage? It was easy enough to order as much software as she liked for her mother and no one really questioned it. A lot of the students from the rim did things like that. It was a strange time for Fi. She was living a relatively normal life, something she hadn't even had as a child. She even had time to meet someone. A man she was slowly but surely falling in love with. Then she found out he was Military. Her mother came to visit and he knew who she was. He couldn't just let her mother go, so Fiona knocked him out and fled. She wouldn't let her mother kill him. Another world, ship, town ... another life. Evade or face off with the Core, depending on the timing. It was a game of cat and mouse, and Fi really didn't like the feeling of being the mouse. At 21 she was tired of it all. She took off for a Rim world and stayed in a small town until the Military showed up and she was recognized. She spent 4 months in containment before her mother broke her out. She almost didn't make it through those months. Her constant litany of "one more day, just last one more day" helped her go on another hour or two between their rounds of 'light' torture. Fi was a pretty girl and the guards weren't known for being kind. She wouldn't ever speak of the things that happened to her during that time, but she knows there is a file somewhere with what happened to her in it, a nameless subject being questioned without remorse. The fight Francis and Fi had over Fi's need for a break was the last time they spoke. Francis thought Fi should jump right in. That her treatment in the hands of the Alliance should have only solidified her hate of them and driven her to work harder to take them down. Fi wanted a few months to run away and be someone that wasn't a wanted fugitive. Her mother was killed just after her 22nd birthday during a raid on a Core facility. Despite their differences Fi was broken hearted, it took her no time at all to get hold of those she needed. It was in Albion that she then learned that vengeance was never enough. For the next year Fi flew under the radar. She hopped various ships as the trip cook or supply officer (she had this knack for being able to get anything the ship needed or wanted.) She was still anti-Core, but she was tired. Still, she couldn't not stand up for her beliefs. At 23 she was wanted for questioning in 18 robberies, 2 homicides, and for Credit Fraud. She was homeless, family-less, and had just left another ship behind. She was invited to join the Cressida as the supply officer, her connections with various types of people all over the 'verse make her exceptional. Even if she does tend to get in scrapes more often than not. On the Cressida Fi found her place. Miss Mina Spencer-Dai was quick to snap her back into the underground movement her mother had been helping run, the eventual outcome to be somehow destroying the Alliance. It was easy enough for the enterprising young woman to slip back into the fold. She was dangerously smart, angry over the death of her mother, and had been on vacation long enough to miss the excitement that came with the danger. This time though she wouldn't be doing solo trips. Her missions all had covers and she always had a warm bunk waiting for her after the smoke cleared. Despite multiple crew shakeups Fi hasn't disappeared from the Cressida, it's her home and her crew is her family. Even the ones she wasn't so fond of. She knows the ins and outs of every system and the nooks and crannies that no one else had any idea lay in the ship. Currently with Gwen being thrown to the wolves Fi had been shanghaied into becoming first mate but as soon as she figured out how to get Gwen back on the ship (and after she was done being angry with the woman) she'd go back to being the best supply officer in the verse and one the Movement's secret weapon against the tech-heads the Alliance had on their side. After all, Fi was just as dangerous with a computer as she was with her knives. Edited by Seraphina Grant, May 13 2011, 02:48 PM.
