Kalidasa System System: Kalidasa Classification: Rim Capital Planet: Beaumonde Population: 932 Million Composition: 1 Protostar, 3 Gas Giants, 16 Planets, 41 Moons Sun: Xuan Wu Worlds: Aberdeen, Angel (Moon: Zephyr), Beaumonde (Moon: Haster), Constance (Barrowclaugh, Disraeli), Delphi (Moons: Calliope, Clio, Thalia), Djinn‘s Bane (Moons: Hilal, Hubal, Illat, Sin, Ta'lab, Wadd), Ghost (Moons: Inferno, Xibalia), Glacier (Moons: Denali), Heaven (Moons: Menaka, Rambha, Tilottama, Urvasi), New Kasmir, Salisbury, Sho-Je Downs (Moons: Kuan La, Miyazaki), Verbena (Moons: Barrimend, Lassek), Vishnu (Moons: Ganesha, Rama), Whitter, Zeus (Moons: Betty, DeLynn, Gayle, Isabel, Sophie, Victoria) Protostars: Penglai Worlds: Beylix (Moons: Charity, Cinote, St. Lucius), Newhall (Moons: Darcke, Mohenrichia, Severence), Oberon (Moons: Bottom, Puck, Quince) Xuan Wu [planet]Aberdeen[/planet] Capital: New Oxford Cortex: Aberdeen is, for some reason or another, a good place for animals or all kinds it seems. They do pretty well for themselves trading furs and lumber to the other worlds. May not be as fancy as the core, but they sure supply it with a lot, and they keep themselves mostly comfortable off what they make. [planet]Angel[/planet] Capital: Bata Moon: Zephyr Cortex: Angel's got wings, that's what they use to say. Well, not exactly wings, but from space she's got a nice white glow about her, the kind that really makes you take notice. Down on the ground, she's just like any other planet. Maybe the sand is a little whiter than most, the light a bit more scorching, but that ain't much. Settled mainly by a Spanish speaking population, Angel is one of the few planets where English and Chinese - while spoken - are not necessarily the first language of the population. [blockquote][planet]Zephyr[/planet] Capital: Weston Cortex: A windy world, for sure, but not unlivable. Sure, it takes a little strength to get by, but settlers manage, and at least it‘s close enough to the core to earn some protection from the local alliance cruise ships without being so close that they‘re entirely restricted.[/blockquote] [planet]Beaumonde[/planet] Capital: New Dunsmuir Moon: Haster Cortex: New Dunsmuir is a place of stunning beauty, right on the edge of the ocean it is the perfect place to get away. And considering the rest of Beaumonde lives under a black colored haze of factory pollution, there is plenty those poor, rich factory owners need to get away from. At least a man can make a decent living at Beaumonde, plenty of places to look for work that's for sure. And, honestly, once you get around the haze it's not too bad. It has a fine night life, and the cities are full of things to keep factory workers and others visiting the planet entertained, even if their lungs may pay for it later. [blockquote][planet]Haster[/planet] Capital: Moss Cortex: Haster is a strange mix of busy, under developed cities and small little villages scattered around the world. Mostly flat and with long summers and a few rainy seasons to break it up, crops are hard to grow and so most of Angel's villagers stick with small crops and large animal herds. The cities are known for their clothing factories, exporting large amounts of fabrics to nearby worlds, and even a few shops to the core.[/blockquote] [planet] Constance[/planet] Capital: Trinity Moons: Barrowclaugh, Disraeli Cortex: There are lots of 'no's on Constance. No alcohol, no drugs, no gambling or anything like that. No sin, that's what their politicians say it means (although it certainly hasn't kept crimes from being committed, just like any other rim world). If you can get past the lack of any real life, I guess the place could be worse. They have towns with running water, enough to keep themselves fed, all the things you technically need to keep alive. But is that living? [blockquote][planet]Barrowclaugh[/planet] Capital: New Mumbai Cortex: There was a time when Delphi was known for it's beautiful fashions. It produced some of the finest clothing in the 'verse. They still have a proficiency at it, but with some of the nearby worlds, it's no surprise the planet seem to fall to criminals and the likes pretty quickly. A deep red planet like Sihnon, when still new it was settled by people who wanted to be close to home while still having a second chance at life on this new world. They had certainly never wanted their planet to fall into the slump the way it has now. Delphi is struggling to keep itself from falling completely the way that Ezra did before it. [planet]Disreal[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [/blockquote] [dead]Delphi[/dead] Moons: Calliope, Clio, Thalia Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable. [blockquote][dead]Calliope[/dead] Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable. [dead]Clio[/dead] Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable. [dead]Thalia[/dead] Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable.[/blockquote] [gas]Djinn‘s Bane[/gas] Moons: Hilal, Hubal, Illat, Sin, Ta'lab, Wadd Cortex: Gas Giant [blockquote]Hilal[/title][/size] Capital: Hawthorne Cortex: Ghost towns before they even had a time to collect ghosts. With the wind keeping this planet all but inhabitable, there isn't much in the way of civilization on Hilal. The tried to build settlements, but eventually the high winds and blowing white dust (the same that give planet it's strange, ethereal look from the air) can eventually wear down even the most determined. There are a few villages and settlements, mostly built under ground to help reduce the effects of the wind. [planet]Hubal[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Illat[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Sin[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Ta'lab[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Wabb[/planet] Capital: Yukonna Cortex: If you land on Wabb you have to land on Yukonna. It's the only large city like structure on an planet of ice, so it should be rather noticeable. It's also the only city with a ship hanger, for keeping any ships that may set down. Which is useful, since when night comes (and night comes for days on Wabb, while days barely last hours some times of the year) the temperature drops so low that the gears of a ship can freeze and snap. So you have to land in Yukonna, and anywhere else you want to get, you take train. It could be hours, days to the next settlement, but the trains on Wabb are specially made to keep running even on the coldest night. So if it's so damn cold, why bother coming down on such a planet? Wabb's temperature makes it the most stable place to produce fuel cells, for one. It also exports tons of fresh water, which they're never short of. So despite the cold, Wabb remains populated.[/blockquote] [dead]Ghost[/dead] Moons: Inferno, Xibalia Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable. [blockquote][dead]Inferno[/dead] Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable. [dead]Xibalia[/dead] Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable.[/blockquote] [dead]Glacier[/dead] Moons: Denali Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable. [blockquote][dead]Denali[/dead] Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable.[/blockquote] [gas]Heaven[/gas] Moons: Menaka, Rambha, Tilottama, Urvasi Cortex: Gas Giant [blockquote][planet]Menaka[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex:--- [planet]Rambha[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Tilottama[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Urvasi[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: ---[/blockquote] [planet]New Kasmir[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Salisbury[/planet] Capital: None Cortex: If Bellerophon where just a little poorer, what you would have is basically Salisbury. The men there, you don't want to know how they got their money, and they're all to happy to not say a damn word and spend the rest of their lives playing king on this little moon. Now if you're one of the wealthy, Salisbury ain't so bad. It's no Bellerophon with floating mansions and the likes - no - but there is still plenty flaunting of money. If you happen to be one of the indentured servants though, well, whoever you pray to at night, sure hope they're listening. [planet]Sho-Je Downs[/planet] Capital: Washi Moons: Kuan La, Miyazaki Cortex: There are a lot of things you don't even think about, little electronic devices that people use without even thinking. Things that can hardly even be called 'technology' they're so basic. Well, these sorts of useless parts are all made on Sho-Je Downs. filled with factories and small towns of their workers, Sho-Je Downs makes things that bigger companies need to make their own products. Since these little pieces of junk almost seem otherwise useless, a good mechanic who knows what to look for can pull a Mcguyver after a visit to Sho-Je Downs. [blockquote][planet]Kuan La[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Miyazaki[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: ---[/blockquote] [planet]Verbena[/planet] Capital: New Angelos Moons: Barrimend, Lassek Description: Verbena never had much luck. Terraforming took to it nearly too well, turning the whole place into a thick and rough forest, making farming near impossible. After the war, the alliance set about to 'rejuvenate' the planet to show what it would do for those out on the rim. [blockquote][planet]Barrimend[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Lassek[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: ---[/blockquote] [dead]Vishnu[/dead] Moons: Ganesha, Rama Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable. [blockquote][dead]Ganesha[/dead] Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable. [dead]Rama[/dead] Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable.[/blockquote] [gas]Zues[/gas] Moons: Betty, DeLynn, Gayle, Isabel, Sophie, Victoria Cortex: Gas Giant [blockquote][dead]Betty[/dead] Cortex: Unterraformed/Uninhabitable. [planet]DeLynn[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Gayle[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Isabel[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Sophie[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Victoria[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: ---[/blockquote] Penglai [planet]Beylix[/planet] Capital: Marthi Moons: Charity, Cinote, St. Lucius Cortex: Most business on Beylix is done in trash. It doesn't sound so pleasant, but you would be amazed what some of these people could do given a few broken down parts. Back just after the war, the alliance started using Beylix as something of a garbage dump for all the parts and things other planets had no use for. Only it turns out that on Beylix, they could find more than enough use for them given the chance, often digging through the heaps to find things worth fixing up and trading back off again. Since even the alliance couldn't see much harm in this, they just pretend not to see the whole thing. Makes Beylix a good place to get a cheap used ship if you need, and a fine place to pull some smuggling in that same ship. [blockquote][planet]Charity[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]Cinote[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: --- [planet]St. Lucius[/planet] Capital: --- Cortex: ---[/blockquote] [planet]Newhall[/planet] Capital: Dahai Moons: Darcke, Mohenrichia, Severence Cortex: A newly transformed planet, Newhall is doing just fine for itself. Probably all that water they have laying about. There is always a need for water and, well, Newhall has plenty. The only land that's livable is a couple of chain islands, leading to most water factories just being built on or over the ocean itself. The islands themselves are mostly home to tourist centers, with plenty coming from the core and border worlds to enjoy the vast openness of Newhall's ocean and tropical climate. Always in need of workers, the alliance offers plenty of help for those willing to settle on the planet and work in the water factories or fishing and, well, if you have to work in a factory at least the scenery here is lovely if not a bit monotone.
