Here Be Rules Read them carefully. I know, there's quite a few rules, but this thread contains everything you need to know about all aspect of the region including: Board Rules, Board Preferences, Poll Guidelines, Other Regional Rules, Map Rules and Application Requirements. Makes sense to keep them all in the one place.
Board Rules
- All rules concerning the definition and severity of flaiming, flaimbating, trolling, spamming etc. as defined by the NationStates Forums on Jolt are applicable here.
- The word of Moderators is final, except over that of the Admin and over a popular majority via polling.
- The word of the Admin (founder) is even more final.
- Please do not link or upload pornographic or illegal material to the messageboard.
- All material deemed Not Work Safe, i.e not safely viewable when in a public or crowded area, must be correctly labelled as [NWS] in the topic title.
Board Preferences
- Signatures are limited to eight lines, including blank lines. Large fonts constitute as two lines per line.
- Please use the avatar upload service to upload your nations flag for ease of identification.
- Please use the homepage address in your personal profile to link viewers to your nations page on http://www.NationStates.net/
Poll Guidelines
- All polling is to be considered First Past the Post, with the exception of voting on applying nations. The latter must be approved by a 2/3rds majority to gain acceptance into the region.
- All polls must have an "abstain" option, where upon the player that "abstains" should clarify their reason for doing so in the thread.
- Polls will stay open for a minimum of three days unless all players have voted.
- Polls will stay open for a maximum of one week (7 days)
- A poll may be closed between 3-7 days if 2/3s of the region have already voted
Other Regional Rules
- Only move your applicant nation into the region and no more, as MS is puppet-free. This also gives us an easy and accurate count of how many players besides nations are in the region.
- Please ensure you understand that in-character actions should not represent out-of-character opinions, and vice versa.
- This region fully complies with the ideals of Realistic Scenario NationStates roleplaying, as detailed in Zinaire's thread.
Map Rules
- All grey areas on the map are to be considered ignored by the rest of the region. They are inaccessible, uninhabitable and unrecognised, and serve a mere aesthetic purpose on the map. This is to make a clear distinction of what is and what is not the boundary of the region, and to prevent players from simply claiming as much territory as they wish out with the jurisdiction of the Regional Moderator Team.
- The 'grey area' is also considered to extend to all areas off-map. In other words all area in Africa south of the map is also off-limits.
- ALL territory must be approved by the Founder before it may be considered in existence.
- The larger your map-claim, the less likely it is that it will be accepted. This is also applicable to colonies: the larger your first claim, the less colonies you are likely to be granted. Please leave plenty room for other nations.
- Please remember that as this is an RS region, population density is considered active. Thus, to avoid overpopulating your nation, select a lower population rather than a larger land area in order to leave plenty room for others.
- Look at the existing nation's borders for an idea on how much land to claim. Remember, micronations are cool as well.
