About You What should we call you? do i have to? What is your gender? ba na na na na na. How can we get in touch with you? telegraph How did you know we were here? ad in the daily prophet. no joke. Did you read all of the rules? HAHAHA NO! Show us a sample post, from any game. A recent one would be nice. Doesn’t have to be the character you’re applying for.
How many characters do you currently have on this board? Two. Dolly and Lils. Anything else you want to tell us before we begin? I LURVE YOU. About Your Character Basics Full name: Barnabas Cuffe Nicknames: Barn, Barny, Barnapus, Barnabustle.. I prefer being called Cuffe. Ancestry: Half-blood. Gender: Male Age: Sixteen Birthday: January 19th Sorted into: Ravenclaw Who do you follow? Um, Dumbledore I suppose? Slughorn? The Tenets of Journalistic Integrity? Wand: Holly, 12.5 inches, Dragon Heartstring. Personal Sexuality: Straight as an arrow flying quite quickly. Likes: -Writing -New Quills -Charms -Dinner -Breakfast -Flying -Quidditch -Journalism -The Daily Prophet -The Fall, the Spring -Holidays -Muggle Films -Wizarding Politics -Muggle Politics Dislikes: -Lunch -Eggs -Potions -Tabloids -Herbology -Board Games -Summer, Winter (Except for Christmas, of course) -Slytherins -Ghosts -Bigots Strengths: Writing. I am a fantastic writer, and that's certainly not me being arrogant. It is my essays that allow me to do so well in my classes. Not that I can't do spells, mind you. I'm perfectly adequate at the practical parts of the lessons, but writing is really my biggest asset. I am also quite charming. I'm no Sirius Black, but I have my moments. Some might consider it being a teacher's pet, but I'm just good with flattery. So why not use that to my advantage? Weaknesses: Well, if you haven't noticed already, I tend to come across as a bit pompous. Something about the formality of my language, my tendency to take things a bit too seriously, and my stiffness in social situations. I can't really talk to girls. I mean, I can converse with them just fine. But I always have a hard time conveying my...feelings. This is why I can never get a lady to accompany me to Hogsmeade. Goals: Get a job at the Daily Prophet. Get the truth out there. Change something for the better with something I report. Fears: Becoming some cynical bigwig who reports only what the people want. Being kept back from by goals by my blood status and inferior connections. Tics, Quirks & Habits: I had a slight stutter as a child that resurfaces now and again, when I'm particularly nervous. I have to drink a glass of water with every meal. I have no idea why. Pet Peeves: Yellow Journalism Censorship People who chew really loudly Favorite sounds and smells: Early morning, you can almost smell the dew, and the birds are chirping. Paper and ink, obviously. This one's hard to describe-the smell when you're flying on your broom, and the wind is blowing in your face,a and it's almost like smelling nothing. Have you ever met a boggart? What does it look like? Nothing particularly interesting. Probably an enormous snake. I do hate snakes. Can you cast Patronus? What does it look like? What memory do you use? None really stand out. Maybe a particularly good Christmas morning with my mum and aunts? I imagine it'd be a curious animal. A fox maybe? Something that likes to investigate. What is the worst memory Dementors bring forward? It would be my dad's death, if I could remember that long ago. No, it was probably the week during the summer, in which I had convinced myself I would not receive the Hogwarts letter, like my aunts insisted I would. It turns out the owl was just a bit daft, and the letter was only a week late. If you were to find the Mirror of Erised, what would you see? I'm not sure how this would be visually represented, but I'd be happy, with a family, and editor of a newspaper. Maybe the Daily Prophet. I'll have turned it around and fired all the people like Rita Skeeter. Tell me a couple secrets about yourself: I believe I have had a crush on almost every girl in our year. And the one below us. And above us. My heart is fickle. Personality: I suppose I come across as a little old-fashioned. I try to give as much care to the words that come out of my mouth as the words that come out of my quill, so I speak slowly and formally. And my movements are stiff and a bit awkward. The way I treat girls is found to be strange by some, as I am trying to be always chivalrous and respectful. My mum and aunts wouldn't have it any other way. I am passionate and curious. I absolutely have to know the truth, and I have to let the truth be known. I think remaining informed is one of the most important things you could ever do. I suppose I can be a little self-righteous sometimes. And arrogant. And I often consider myself above my readership, which I know I must stop doing. Many also find me to be cold and distant, though I am not, if you get to know me. Looks Distinguishing Features: A scar on my right leg from my first time flying. And a tattoo on my left shoulder. Just joking, of course. Not-so-distinguishing features: There always appears to be ink on my hands, so that's quite annoying. And the quill I keep behind my ear. Appearance: I'm very tall. Around 6'2", which I suppose isn't gigantic. But, still, I tower over almost every girl, and some guys as well. And I'm skinny. What's the word? Lanky. Yes, I think lanky suits me. Blonde hair that's sort of curly, always kind of a mess. And blue eyes. And some muscle, I like to think, but that might be a little optimistic. I should have some though, with all the Quidditch practice I've been doing. Place of Birth: London Immediate family: My mother, Lucy Cuffe Extended family: My aunts Sarah, Jane, and Georgiana Cuffe Other important people: None I can think of. Pets: My owl, Joseph. And our dog at home, Victor. History: I suppose it starts with my parents. Gregory Cuffe, pureblood, and Lucy Hawkins, muggle. They were very much in love, apparently. I never got to see this, Gregory died of a wizarding illness when I was about 7 months old. By that point my mother was living almost completely in the Wizarding world, with a son who would undoubtedly grow up and go to Hogwarts. She could have gone to live as a muggle, but she didn't have to. My father's three sisters, Sarah, Jane, and Georgiana took us in. So yes, I was raised by four women. Which may sound unconventional, but I had a rather normal childhood. All three of my aunts were writers for Witch Weekly, so that's probably where I got the bug. I used to run around, spying on the neighbors and the other children, then running back to my room and reporting it all. That got me into quite a bit of trouble, for being a "tattletale." I was just reporting the truth. Cold, hard facts. So then I came to Hogwarts, armed with my quill, parchment, and a whole lot of respect for women (thanks to my upbringing.) I was sort of shy my first two years, but I got past that and started The Leaky Quill. That dinky little paper pretty much consumes my life now (along with studying and quidditch practice). It's the main source of Hogwarts news, and, unfortunately gossip, as the masses demand. Misc Anything else you want to share? No, thank you. Edited by cait, Aug 11 2009, 11:24 PM.

Mmm... I suppose he's okay. Just one problem, though. His quidditch position is never mentioned... ACCEPTED anyway. |
