Father Christmas was here, Sissy! Get up!” You’d have thought Amycus was the younger sibling by the way he was bouncing up and down on five year old Alecto’s bed, successfully rousing her from a deep sleep filled with dreams of sugar plum fairys and candy canes. However, the thought of a mountain of presents was enough to spring her out of bed, as she took her brother’s hand and ran down the many steps of the Carrow’s Wiltshire mansion. Her mother and father were already awake, sitting side-by-side in their matching one-man loveseats, holding hands and smiling widely at their two beautiful children as they tore open their presents. After each gift was un-wrapped, the Carrow family all gathered around the fire, each nursing a cup of hot cocoa. Looking over at her brother, Alecto gleefully noted that he had dozed off, which would give her the opportunity to ride his new broom. Taking a sip from her mug, a little bit of chocolate was left on the top of her lips, giving her a small chocolate mustache. It was then Alecto turned to look at her parents, who were still holding hands and smiling. She figured she was way past do for the well-wishing. “Happy Christmas Mama! Happy Christmas Papa!” Zypherian just smiled at his baby girl and wished her a Happy Christmas as well. Her mother, however, running her fingers through her daughter’s hair, kissed away the chocolate residue over her lips. “Happy Christmas my darling girl. I love you so, so much.” It was the last Christmas the Carrows spent together as a family… ever. What is the worst memory Dementors bring forward? A room. Damp, cold, and frighteningly ominous. She stands before a hooded figure, shivering in anticipation… and is that fear, as well? Yes, it is- she has failed an important mission, and it is now time to pay the price. A glance over her shoulder and a little to the right, and she sees Amycus, head bowed in dissapointment, with a hint of disgust. “Young Carrow. Pretty, little, IMPUDENT young Carrow… you have failed me.” That voice… she knows it, for it is the same voice that rings out in her ears when the Mark on her arm burns and slithers. The Dark Lord… her master… the one whom she let down. “I-I..” “Silence!” And with a bang from the tip of his wand, she is quiet, eyes focused solely on the ground. He speaks up once more. “You have failed me, and you will now pay the price. Keep your eyes on your brother- look anywhere else, and I will kill you.” It’s a plain and simple order that she knows he will follow through with, so turning to Amycus, she stares, cringing at what’s to come next. “CRUCIO!” She almost turns her head when the spell hits. Almost closes her eyes when her brother yells out in utter agony and pain. Instead, she lets a single tear slide down her cheek and trembles with shame as she watches Amycus suffer for what she had done. If you were to find the Mirror of Erised, what would you see? To know what it would have been like to have a mother, and also what it would be like if she were daddy’s little girl. Alecto pictures herself standing in the warm embrace of her parents, all the while holding Amycus’ hand, while the entire family looks peaceful and at ease, with the Dark Mark flashing in the sky above them, during a time when the Dark Lord will rule. Tell me a couple secrets about yourself: - She would betray the Dark Lord for her brother in a heartbeat - She has never been in a fist fight, even though she talks tough - She enjoys some muggle music - Despite her independent front, she enjoys company sometimes - She's allergic to peanuts Personality: Sadistic The Carrow siblings are famous for being sadists. They take extreme pleasure in the pain of others, and Alecto is no exception. Something about having the power to harm someone just gives her an incredible rush, and she acts upon that adrenaline, whether it be when she’s out doing missions for the Dark Lord, or when she’s leaving scratches down the back of a lover during sex, she is all about some pain and suffering for her benefit, before all others. Sarcastic Her sharp tongue has gotten her in trouble before in school, but now that she’s graduated and into the real world, her sarcasm is something she practices daily. She’s an extremely witty girl that will always have a comeback for every insult thrown her way. The whole ‘sticks and stones’ bit? Yeah, that saying is pretty accurate, except for the fact Alecto is willing to spit out words that will hurt, no matter who you are. Confident In addition to patience, she has inherited some of the typical Carrow haughtiness, a trait more obvious in her brother, as opposed to herself. She’s sneaky about her cockiness, unless you’re in the inner circle of her friends. She knows what she’s good at, and has no problem with expressing or using those abilities to get what she wants. Her ego is not as big as some might think, but she still has her pride, and does whatever she can to protect it from bruises. Diligent Despite going through her school years being a procrastinator, Alecto miraculously saw the light from her old, bad habits, and now makes sure to see everything through to the finish. Despite the fact that she will most likely be punished for an incomplete task, there’s a more personal reason for this behavior, which most likely has to do with not wanting to be like her father, who had the simple task of taking care of his children, and then failed to see it through because he decided killing himself was easier than raising a family alone. Which brings us to her being… Independent Growing up is never an easy thing to do. Growing up without a mother is isn’t great either, and growing up with both parents is even worse. Unfortunately for her, Alecto learned at a relatively young age that sometimes growing up fast isn’t an option. Because of the death of both her mother, she learned to cook, clean, and take care of her brother, and her father before he died as well. So, it’s no surprise that later on in life, she lives by herself, shops by herself, and even goes on some of the Dark Lord’s missions on her own. It’s not that she’s lonely or enjoys doing things on her own… all she knows to look out for is herself, and that’s the way it has been for years. Looks Distinguishing Features: Alecto has a tattoo that reads “We will all laugh at gilded butterflies” from the Shakespeare play King Lear, on the back of her right shoulder. Not-so-distinguishing features: Alecto has a wicked smirk that could make even the meanest of people lose their balance for a moment. Appearance: Alecto’s eyes change with the clothes she wears. However, they only vary from a hard blue to a dark gray, but her brother swears they turn into a bit of a turquoise color when she’s up to something. Keeping with the Carrow tradition, she has dark brown hair that’s extremely thick. Hers, however, falls a little below her shoulders, and compliments her eye color very nicely. If you look closely at her face you’ll see Alecto has a flock of freckles tickling both of her refined cheeks, but if you point them out to her, she’ll probably hex you into next year. Her eyebrows have a natural arch to them, making her look haughty most of the time. Other than that, she has a Carrow nose that she shares with her brother, and plump lips that make mistletoe rustle in anticipation. She is not the tallest of the bunch, but by no means is she short. Coming in at an average 5’7 stature, Alecto is built very proportionate to her height. She has rather full hips, and legs that finish the lower part of her body rather beautifully. She’s always been a little self-conscious about her arms, thinking them to be too long and lanky, but they are fitting to the rest of her body structure. Place of Birth: Wiltshire, England Immediate family: Zypherian Carrow – father, [deceased, suicide] Worked mostly in Durmstrang to import illegal artifacts and potions into England. Many referred to him as “The King of the Black market”. Matilda Sorres Carrow – mother, [deceased, illness] Apothecary Owner. Met Zypherian through the Black market business. Amycus Carrow – brother, Death Eater Extended family: None that she knows of… Her extended family is scattered all throughout Europe but her parents have never allowed her to see them. Other important people:N/A Pets:A white barn owl named Zora. History: On a windy September evening, Matilda Sorres gave birth to her first (and only) baby girl. The wind never died down that evening, causing the Carrow family to sleep uncomfortably that night- an omen neither of the two parents would pick up on until later. When Matilda and Zypherian brought Alecto home, she was placed in a crib right beside her older brother, who at the time was only a year older than her. Both had heads of dark hair, and dark eyes that promised something wicked in the future. Her first night home, Alecto slept peacefully beside her brother, and did so until she was old enough to have her own room. Even as a little girl, Alecto was curious. She spent most of her time outside, chasing after butterflies, tumbling around on the green earth, getting her dress dirty from the soil and mud she danced around in. Amycus accompanied her some days, and the two would go on adventures together- completely oblivious to their parents’ business. Matilda and Zypherian tended to dote on their baby girl, for in their eyes, she was a precious angel. However, what her parents didn’t know, was that those same butterflies Alecto chased, tended to have their wings brutally ripped off the next day. Even at a young age, she developed a sadistic streak. Amycus had always taught Alecto to stand up for herself and be brave, although he would on some occasions come to her rescue. By the time she was eight, little Miss Carrow was not the girl you’d want to play dolls with, or invite to a tea party. Though, I guess that wasn’t too strange, considering the fact Amycus was always a troublemaker, and she was most adamant in following in his footsteps. By the time Alecto was in her second year, Matilda had fallen ill from some un-known disease. She died several months later, leaving her family crushed. In a rebellious gesture (and probably because she couldn’t cope properly), she had cut off all her hair, simply because her mother used to run her fingers through it and constantly remind her how “pretty” it was. Shortly before her fourth year, however, all his years in the black market had caught up to Zypherian Carrow, and he was put under investigation by the Ministry. Before authorities could get to him, he committed suicide by drinking a poison concoction he made using the supplies from his wife’s store. Alecto never forgave him, and still hasn’t to this very day. After all, she now had to live with all alone in the Carrow Manor with her brother. While with Amycus, she had gotten into all sorts of alcohol and drugs, behind his back, of course. So, come her fifth year, she let her hair grow back out because she really didn’t give a damn anymore. Alecto got herself a job working at Honeydukes part time, and then later went back to working at the Apothecary in Diagon Alley when she wasn't working in Hogsmede, with the help of an old family friend who kept the place running, even after all of the tragedies in the Carrow family. She had heard of the Dark Lord one night at one of her brother’s parties. Curious, she eavesdropped a little more into his conversations with who she would realize later were Death Eaters and managed to tag along with her brother and his friends to one of these meetings. In just one little visit, she fell into the world of dark magic and the prosperous idea where only wizarding folk would rule the entire world. She, as a fifth year, is of course too young to recieve the mark yet, but plans on getting it either her sixth or seventh year at Hogwarts. Ever since then, she’s been living life on the edge… to say in the least. Misc Anything else you want to share? Not that I can think of really. Just don’t repeat anything you just heard in the History, and we’ll all be square, okay luv? ![]() Edited by Gypsy, Jun 24 2009, 05:59 PM.

Looks good, but I think I'm going to let Fox decide whether or not to accept this one, since she seems to be heading up the darker side of the game.

Alecto Carrow is first mentioned as being slope-shouldered and as having stubby fingers (DH, pg 473). Page 476 says "hunched like his sister" in reference to Amycus. Pages 479- 480; "...and hoisted them into the air, where they dangled beneath the blue and gold ceiling, like two large, ugly sea creatures." See... I doubt a squat, lumpy little witch is going to be a master at seduction unless she's also a master of the Imperius curse. I don't mind if you want her average looking, or even kind of pretty, so long as there's some kind of explanation as to why her looks might have changed over the years. (Maybe she was cursed? Or it was the result of too much sex, drugs and rock'n'roll?) Under "Distinguishing Features" you should probably remove the Dark Mark. You yourself aknowledged that she was too young for it, so unless she's gone and tattooed it on herself... Which, admittedly, would be bloody interesting. *grin* Under "personality" I'm not so sure about the cool, collected side. In the books she struck me as being more impatient and easy to anger. We need to see at least the beginnings of her adult persona showing through. She also seems a bit in love with her brother. Then again, that could just be me and the fact that I've been reading fanfiction again. Other than that, you're pretty much good to go. |

Okay, first off, thank you so much for reviewing my application throughoughly! I am well aware later on in the books Alecto, as well as her brother, aren't attractive at all. However, I'm portraying her in her 5th year, and even like you said, her later-on appearence could be the result of a curse... something I'd be happy to add in the history, if you'd like me to? I removed the Dark Mark from "distinguishing features". Total error on my part, I appologize. I removed the "cool" side of her personality as well, however I like to play Alecto as somewhat Indifferent, only because she has yet to fully accept the loss of both of her parents, so her outlook on life isn't all that clear. Not that she's suicidal or anything, it's just like she has a "whatever" attitude, that I figured would match perfectly under the 'Cool' generalization. Nevertheless, I deleted that section. And she's soooo not in love with her brother! xD I guess she cares a great deal for him because he's all she has left. I'm sorry if it came off that way, but I'm not into the whole incest thing, promise. |
