Regulus cocked an eyebrow. "It involves writing down, in detail, everything he's done to bring down the family name over the last, ooh, let's say six months. And then conveniently leaving it lying around at the next family get-together. Crude, but effective." |

Now that was interesting. Severus considered the implications, and for a moment he was very tempted to get a sample of Regulus' handwriting so he could work on that little plan himself. Owl it to the family using one of the school's generic post-owls, and there you go. Instant retribution. "Remind me not to get on your bad side," Severus replied, smirking just a tiny bit. |

"You shouldn't need reminding," Regulus replied coolly, that smirk tugging at his lips again. "And I wouldn't even think about trying to pull a fast one, Snape. If I find anything with my handwriting on that I didn't write, I'll make your life a living hell. Believe me. I could." He paused for a moment, considering this, and then added, "Whether it was you or not."

"Is that some sort of half-hearted blackmail?" Severus asked, arching one eyebrow. He was aiming for indifference, but came up with a little incredulous instead. "Am I being recruited to the cause of restoring your brother's good name? I must tell you, it seems to me to be a losing battle." That and Snape wouldn't do a good turn for Sirius without first being Imperius'ed. |

"Do you think I care about my brother's good name?" Regulus drawled, unconcerned. As a matter of fact, he did, but nobody - including Sirius - knew that, and he wasn't about to make Severus Snape the first. "The family's good name, perhaps, but I think Sirius has besmirched that pretty well irrevocably. I just thought you should be aware. I don't appreciate people meddling in my family's affairs." |

She was never fond of the younger students at Hogwarts, and so when she was accidentally shoved by a second year Hufflepuff, who was most anxious to get to the Great Hall for the upcoming feast, there was no mistaking the voice of Alecto Carrow, muttering several profanities and promises to hex the next person to push her. Luckily for her (and the other students who could have been potential hex-ees) she made it into the grand hall untouched. Tossing her hair, she let out a triumphant “Hmph!” before proceeding further and towards her House’s table. Several pairs of eyes followed her as she walked proudly over to the table that sat right below silver and green banners. She was proud of her walk- it exuded the confidence and Carrow pride that she was known for exhibiting on a daily basis, which is why she took her time in selecting a seat at the table. Unfortunately, when one wasn’t promptly on time for the feast as they should have been, it was hard to find any open spaces, and so she opted for the closest available seat… one that happened to be right in front of two dark headed males. Upon closer observation, Alecto noted that one of the males was Regulus Black, a year younger than she, but none the less an acceptable dining mate. The second boy was Severus, who was not only in his fifth year as well, but also shared the same classes as her. “Hello, gentlemen.” She said smoothly, sitting down daintily and tossing her hair. Her eyes were focused on her empty plate, and then swiftly moved up to fist focus on Snape, and then Regulus. “I hope I haven’t interrupted an important conversation?” Though, even if she did, she wouldn’t bring herself to care. Typical Alecto. Edited by Gypsy, Jun 25 2009, 04:08 AM.

"Quite the opposite," Severus replied drily, aiming to imply that Regulus going on about his pureblood nobility all the time was just plain boring. Alecto wasn't exactly the most ideal company in the world, but she was better than listening to a record of Reggie Black's family pride. "I didn't see you on the train, Alecto." All that meant was that she obviously hadn't been in the same carriage. It was just an excuse to change the subject. |

"Hello, Carrow." Regulus nodded acknowledgement to her, treating her to a smile. "Snape's right, you didn't interrupt anything important. Just a history lesson, which, from the look on his face, he wasn't finding all that interesting. Did you have a good summer?" |

Alecto turned her attention back to Snape, raising an eyebrow at his half-hearted statement. “Yes, well I suppose that’s because I actually stayed in my compartment this time. I just didn’t feel the need to flutter around the train and talk to everyone.” Running her fingers over the elevated patterns printed on the golden dinner goblets, she sighed thoughtfully. Her attention then shifted back to the younger of the two boys. A small smirk crept up her lips, and she shrugged. “My summer was okay. I spent the majority of it working at the Apothecary, as usual, and in my spare time I was playing mum to Amycus.” The corner of her lips curled up in a small sneer, but the gesture vanished as quickly as it appeared. “What about your summer, Regulus?” Then, turning to Snape, she nodded in his direction. “And yours?” |

"I prefer not to dwell on my summers," Severus replied, mouth twitching a bit as if it really wanted to form a sneer but he wouldn't quite let it. |
