"Oh dear. All of you should come to my place next summer; we're actually going to my Grandparent's house in the South of France. It would be so great to have my girls there." She smiled. "Besides, new boys. Fresh faces. Late nights, new parties. It would be great, and you could get some quick or summer long action. It'd be fabulous." Marlene's smile turned to a grin. She turned to Lily. "It's because he lurves you; he can't get enough of his Lily Dilly." She laughed, and then turned expectantly to face Alice. |

“Yeah like me” Florence teased. “Come on then, read us the letter. I want to hear Potters undying love for you in written form. Tell me, did he manage to spell everything correctly?” This, of course was just a poke at James’s intelligence. Every girl in the compartment knew he was almost top at everything in their year, but having sent Lily an unfortunately written note once, presumably when he had been under some form of illegal substance, the joke had stuck that Potter couldn’t spell. “ You can flirt with him all you want, he prefers blondes.” Florence cocked her brow at Marlene, then turned, as she had done, to Alice. |

"Oh, Merlin, let me fish it out of my pocket where I keep all sorts of James Potter memorabilia so I can sniff it and such," Lily said sarcastically. "I threw it out." She paused, thinking. "It said something about my fiery red hair exploding like a bomb of beauty, and my eyes glowing like the radioactive fallout. And, I, personally, would be up for some adventure and mayhem next summer." |

Marlene held up her hands in a defensive position. "Woah there. Just kidding sweetheart. Do you have a special place in your heart for your summer man?" She smiled, lightening the mood. She turned back to Lily, clapping her hands together, once again, in excitement. "Yes! Come on, Lils! Let's see this note." |

“Micky, you’re crazy. I’m kidding. Flirt with him all you want, personally I’ll be with Lils creating and participating in this mayhem. So say hi to Ed for me.” she smirked at her friend. “And speaking of mayhem, I’ve brought a little of my own to share this year.” Her blue eyes sparkled with mischief and floated up to land on her trunk, nestled next to Alice’s. |

Alice almost swore out loud. Every matchmaking attempt she made was doomed if James didn't stop acting so stupidly. She and he were going to have words. "That boy is one strange creature," she mused out loud. "Personally, I wouldn't associate nuclear holocaust with romance. Buuuut it's James, so anything goes." |

Lily followed Florence's gaze to the trunk. "Share? Share sounds good. Like, information. Share information about what you mean by that cryptic statement." As usual, her mind was racing with possibilities, settling on an extensive collection of chocolate candy. Chocolate was a safe thing to hope for. |

Marlene rolled her eyes. "Of course you did. You just HAD to throw away that note before I could get some fun out of it, didn't you?" She smirked, then breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright; for a second there, I wasn't too sure. Eh, if you're so quick to give up the boy, he must not be too interesting." She shrugged again, and but her eyes brightened at Florence's next words. "Oh, do show it! What kind of crazy things are we going to do this year?" She threw a sidelong glance at Lily. "Actually, scratch that. We have a prefect in our midsts now; we have to start obeying every rule." She smiled, and winked at Lily. She looked to Alice. "Yes, well, James isn't exactly the most poetic guy of the bunch. Would it really be right to expect anything more from him?" |

"No. But wouldn't it be nice, if, just once, he compared Lils to a summer's day instead of a tornado in Brazil? And yes," she added, straight-faced, "every rule. McKinnon!" she barked suddenly, "Your hair is a mess, girl! Pull your socks up!" |

Marlene laughed. "But, but, I'm not even wearing socks, ma'am." She used her best Southern American accent, and stuck out her sandal covered foot, wiggling her toes. She set it down. "Actually, it would be rather awkward. Did you know that that poem is one made for a man? So, it is a gay love poem? Maybe he could recite it for Sirius, but not for Lily." She giggled. |
