Marlene shook her head. "Not really. Apparently I look tan, but I don't see that myself. I was pretty much a total homebody; except for going to a few of the parties that the local boys invited me to, I stayed in my backyard and read." She laughed. Just then, a girl entered their wake, and Marlene broke into a full smile. "FLORENCE," she sqealed, enveloping her friend into a tight hug. |

Returning her friends embrace, Florence turned her full attention to Marlene. Taking in the sight of her dark haired friend, she whistled her slow and deliberate approval. “You look tan Micky, no wonder you didn’t have time for me. Where’d you go off too again?!” Spending the entire summer at home was not a normal occurrence for Florence. Usually her parents took her on one trip a year during the holidays; she had been to Italy, Greece, England, France, Ireland and most recently Scotland. This year, her father had been swamped at the ministry, insisting he couldn’t take time off due to his workload, and there had been a massive outbreak of some type of muggle flu, and so her mother couldn’t get the time off either. Slightly jealous of her friend’s obvious trip away, Florence let her eyes wander the platform, noting students here and there that she knew, sending a few friendly smiles and more than one head nod their way. The scarlet engine let off a loud whistle, as steam filled the upper parts of the landing. Glancing behind Lily’s mop of red hair, Florence noticed the had only five minutes remaining to board the train. “Okay, let’s get this party started. We’ll be lucky to find an empty compartment now!” Edited by Vannie, Jul 12 2009, 10:43 PM.

"Shiiit!" Alice exclaimed, seeing the clock. "We'll be in a compartment with a bunch of loners at this rate! Although," she added slyly, with a sidelong glance at Lily, "I can think of some very popular people who would absolutely definitely have room for one of us, isn't that right, guys?" Laughing, she hoiked up her wheelie suitcase using the little fabric handle, but not bothering to retract the long puller handle, slung her handbag and cat cage over one shoulder and hopped onto the train. |

Smirking in Lily’s general direction, Florence cocked a well sculpted brow. Following Alice’s lead, she turned the trolley containing her worn trunk around, tucked a loose lock of pale hair behind her ear and strolled after her. With great difficulty, she heaved the thing onto the train, sweating slightly under her brow. “I have got to pack lighter” she exclaimed, watching many other students, the majority female, heave up their trunks with as much difficulty as she had. “But I know if I didn’t pack those extra pairs of shoes I’d have regretted it.” Thinking also of the six or seven new healing books she had purchased along with her mandatory school ones, she owed the extra weight to those more than anything else. Not that she would admit it. |

Marlene laughed softly at her friend's exclamation. "No, I haven't been anywhere this summer. Actually, I spent the majority of it inside." She glanced at the clock after Florence's outburst, and then yanked on her luggage. "You're right. And as I also just said to Lily, there are certain people who wouldn't mind putting a certain one of us on their lap, if it meant being with them." She flashed a smirk in Lily's direction, before heaving her single trunk up onto the train." She let out a low whistle at the sight of all of Florence's trunks. "Maybe I can teach you how to pack lightly this year, eh honey?" She smiled. |

Giggling from the numerous comments about James Potter’s unrequited love for Lily, Florence was grateful she had kept her feelings in check; especially the hours upon hours they had spent over the years discussing first kisses, crushes, and the best looking boy at school. Girl talk was, it had to be admitted, fun. It always made Florence laugh to see the looks on the other girl’s faces when she told them who she had kissed outside care of magical creatures, or after hours near the kitchens. She blushed at the memory of a particularly heated moment she had had this summer with a muggle boy, and vowed to tell the girls the moment the occasion arose. “Darling” she spoke, turning her full attention to Marlene. “That would be splendid.” She smiled at her friend and watched as Lily followed the rest of the girls, loading her trunk without difficulty. “Should we find a compartment then?”

"I say that we most definetly should. Prefferably an empty one, where we can lock the door." She twirled a curl around her finger, smiling playfully. "I have SO much to tell you." She continued on down the packed hall, not moving to make way for other people; but then again, that was Marlene McKinnon for you. |

Alice led the way, bag hanging over her shoulder. She was the worst at girl talk. Sooner or later conversation would turn to her summer, and she would have to admit that she remained unkissed and single. Whereas she knew the others had some tales to tell...well, maybe not Lily, but you never knew with Lils. She put down her suitcase and pointed. "Psst. Empty compartment at ten o'clock. Move in." And she was off, dashing towards the compartment a few doors away before anyone else claimed it. |

Marlene hurried after Alice, giggling along the way. She grabbed Alice's abandoned suitcase and pulled it along with her own. When she reached the compartment, she set it down in the doorway, hopping over it and pulling her trunk over it in one swift movement. She pulled the trunk up and over head into the shelf, using her momentum to move the heavy trunk. She collapsed into the seat next to her, laughing. |

Starting after her friends, lugging the huge trunk behind her Florence stopped mid-step, nearly dropping her trunk onto a first year. With a loud thud, it fell to the ground as she stared hopelessly at the back of a rather tall, slender boys head. Jet black hair, that walk, those robes, definitely a Black. Had Sirius cut his hair? She hoped he hadn’t, she had wished for so long to run her hands through it. Blushing slightly, she watched until the boy turned to look inside a compartment, and the rose that had come to settle onto her fair cheeks vanished. Reggie. She had been ogling and fantasizing about the back of Sirius’ little brothers head. She gave an all over body shake, picked up her trunk once more and hurled it into the compartment after her friends. She was a little sweaty, her sundress clung to her breasts and hips, as she kneeled over in the doorway, panting. Ew, was the only thought that came to mind. |
