((Skipping Lynne for now just to move this thread on a bit, if that's ok?)) Peter gave Mary a rather apologetic glance and shifted back to his normal place next to James, taking a biro of his own out of his jeans pocket and clicking it out. Kingsley grinned at Remus and shook his head. "Lupin, there's not enough room for a bloody first year in here. And I see Potter's brought half his house to school, as usual, so no room for my case either." The seventh year was wont to carry a rather large trunk, and it was notorious for being big and sturdy enough that Kingsley used it as a spare seat whenever he wanted to sit in a full carriage. "For once, actually, Black has a good point," he carried on. "Prefects meet at the front of the train about a minute ago. That's why I was looking for you. I thought, hmmm, can't continue without the newest addition to our merry band of brothers and sisters. Speaking of which, I'm also on the lookout for Lily Evans. Anyone seen her?" Not that he expected them to have. She'd probably sit with a bunch of the purest-blooded Slytherins rather than share a compartment with the Marauders, after all. Remus, looking warily round at the rather full carriage, stumbled his way back towards the doorway, jumping over and maneuvering around various suitcases and people as he went. Really, the distance from where he had been sitting in the carriage to the doorway was incredibly short, a metre or two at most, but it took him rather a long time to escape, mostly as he did not want to be rude by pushing anyone out of the way. He had a sudden image that if Kingsley ever wanted to get through a crowd, they would simply part to make a pathway through for him, but that image was probably due to an overactive imagination, so he disregarded it. "Erm, Lily... no, haven't seen her." Not that he had expected to, as he'd been with James almost since he'd stepped on the platform, and that was a sure-fire way to make sure that Lily would not be around (unless he was specifically hunting her down, of course). |

Sirius chucked his purple robes to the floor, pulling his Hogwarts' black over his head and wriggling until they were in place. He then fished through James' pencil case for a biro and began to write on the parchment. Operation Mr. Snuffles, status reports! Me: I know my animal. I can feel it inside me. I just haven't figured out how to let it out. He passed the parchment and pen to James, leaning back in his seat. "So," he said. "Anybody want some purple dustrags? First one to claim the robes can keep them. You could probably pawn them for a handful of gold--good fabric, latest style..." |

"Yoink." Reaching over, James grabbed up the robes, shoved them into his bag, and then took the pen and parchment off Sirius. "Don't waste those robes, Siri. They're prankster's gold. Plus ideal blackmail material, of course." As he talked, he was scribbling, without actually looking at the paper. Um. Progress report. There is none. Status report - I'm fairly sure my animal is one of the following; a horse, a deer, a giraffe, a donkey, a... something of that sort of nature, anyway. What about you, Pete? |

Once she was paying attention to the conversation again, Aurora noted the parchment and pen being passed between the Marauders. She decided not to comment on it, however, as that wasn't her business, and would only become so if they did it in her class--though she suspected that she wouldn't be able to read it anyways, so she would probably just let it slide. "So, anyone do anything interesting this summer? Did you Marauders pull any interesting pranks? Togther or otherwise?" the professor questioned, a mischevious gleam appearing in her mismatched eyes. |

"Didn't really expect anything else," Kingsley admitted, and offered Remus an immense hand. "Well done, by the way. I was pretty sure your nomination would be agreed with, but," he grimaced, "some of the other prefects felt you might be a bit too Marauder-y. But it's as I told them. The best policemen are usually ex-cons." --- Pete looked a bit confused by this turn of events. Teachers weren't supposed to ask questions like that. It wasn't their business. Teachers were supposed to teach. Students were supposed to prank. That was the way it worked. "I went to France," he offered, scribbling an untidy note on the parchment and handing it back to Sirius. "Annecy. It was really sunny." status report is compllicated. think i was geting somewhere. i was trying realy realy hard and things started changeing in my bones, i think, but then i paniced. my spine was shifting. i thought i might realy hurt myself. i was terified. so i stopped and it took a while to work out how to turn back. i was growing a tail. a long one. whats the word? prehatsile. but i still dont know what it is. my animal i mean. Remus took Kingsley's hand gratefully and used it to finally pull himself out of the carriage, then looked back up at the immensely tall seventh year. "Thanks," he said, then smiled apologetically. "Yeah, I was surprised when I got the letter. Then again, I do hope that being a Marauder isn't too similar to being a convict..." |

No way! You got the shift started? I WILL get it to work... Sirius passed the note on to James, leaning back in his seat and kicking his feet up on the seat across from him. James was there, but that was okay. He put his feet to either side of his friend. "I," he said, looking over at the teacher, "managed to piss my parents off even more, nearly succeeded in locking my little brother in a booby-trapped pyramid, and suffered through... oh, at least fifteen curses and an uncountable number of hexes, jinxes, and nasty spells." He offered the professor a sugary smile and shrugged. "It was a pretty good summer, all things considered. But I think my broom is cursed now, so we'll have to strip it down this year. You feeling up for a challenge, Jamie?" |

"Sure," James said, without looking up. Bloody hell, Pete. You're way ahead of me. Clearly, you're a capauchin (is that how you spell it? Whatever) How'd you get that to happen, anyway? The changing? Did you cast a spell or anything, or were you just concentrating? Future generations of Marauders want to know, Pete! "I set my dad's head on fire this time," he informed the professor cheerily, passing the parchment on to Peter. "Then he hung himself from the big beam in the kitchen. You could hear Mum screaming from three fields away. Oh, yeah, and we went to Rome. That was pretty good, too." |

Aurora chuckled at what Jame's and Sirius' summers had entailed. "Ah, you two, never pass up an oppertunity to prank someone, do you?" She grinned at them, feeling like a teenager again. That thought, however brought back some memories she had tried to block out. Namely how she had found her parents on the first day of the Easter holidays in her seventh year. This caused her smile to fade, her expresssion to darken, and her eyes to sparkle with tears she would not allow herself to shed. Aurora bit her lip, choking back a sob. She hoped that the others were too engrossed in their conversation to take note of her pain. If they did, she wasn't sure if she could keep from crying, and crying was something she NEVER wanted to do in front of her students. |
