"Hi Pete!" called Remus cheerfully, following after James towards Sirius and Peter. "It's true, it's true, I'm a prefect. Not that I expect I shall end up being a very good one, with you lot for friends." He grinned affectionately at them all. "I've just been stuck here all summer, not that I mind too much. It was quite nice to have a peaceful few months. Well, as peaceful as it can get with me." |

Sirius laughed and shook his head like a dog. He ran one hand through his long black hair to get it out of his face, and sure enough, it fell right back into place. "Gonna have to try harder than that, Jamie!" he crowed, sticking out his tongue at his best friend. "I went to Egypt and found out tons about booby traps and clever ideas. Did you know that there's a desiccating potion? Not that we should use it on any living thing, but it works on inanimate objects too. I'm thinking certain dinners..." |

"I like it," James agreed, nodding sagely. "I bought some permanent markers from WH Smith's. They may also be useful. Once again, my Muggle Studies expertise beats your ancient magic. And incidentally, how would your hair react if I switched your gel for superglue? Besides that you'd have your hands stuck to your head for about a week, which would actually be quite amusing..." He had a worrying look on his face. It was his I-am-totally-serious-about-trying-this look, and that was never a good sign. |

Sinking back into the comfortable conversation of his three greatest friends, Peter scruffed his hair back down straight. After all, it was so short and so lifeless right now that it fell back pretty easily anyway. He snorted. "It would be pretty funny!" |

"Superglue hair gel is one of the things I will certainly let slide under my duties as a Prefect," confirmed Remus, picturing it and chuckling. "Shouldn't we board the train now? Just so we don't get left behind - not that I don't want to live at a train station with you lot for a few months, of course." |

"If you switch my hair gel for superglue, and if said superglue is the muggle stuff you were talking about in your letters, then I would..." Sirius trailed off thoughtfully, running his hand through his hair as he joined his friends in heading toward the train. "I would probably kiss Lily Evans in front of you and get her to shag me. And I would bar Pete and Remus from the room for siding with you. And I will also not offer to let you borrow the new brew that I think should do something for your hair, or even bother attempting to make it, because you would be an arse." He bumped his shoulder against James, looking at the other black-haired boy. "And you're not an arse, right James Potter? Not to me..." |

"What, the stuff that sticks anything to anything and is awesome in every conceivable way? Sure, that's what I was talking about!" James grinned, making another hopeless attempt to muss Sirius' hair. "But of course I'm not an arse to you, Siri! Except when you deserve it. And that doesn't count. But I can't risk you carrying out that threat, so you get away with it. This time." Laughing, he nodded at what Remus had said. "Mr Perfect Prefect is right. We should board. C'mon!" |

With a loud crack and a displacement of air, Aurora Sinistra, the Astronomy Professor appeared on Platform 9 3/4 via apperation. With a sigh of relief--as she had never liked apperating much--the brunette smoothed a nonexistent wrinkle out of her dress shirt--which was a royal-blue in color as well as being a mens dress shirt--before dusting imaginary lint off of her immaculate black mens dress pants. Though Aurora had been raised by magical parents, she had been allowed to dress however she wished, and thus her current style had been a result of that. Along with the aforementioned means dress shirt and mens dress pants, Aurora wore a pair of shined, black mens dress shoes. She then ran a hand through her short brown hair, her mismatched emerald green--the right--and sapphire blue--the left--eyes taking in her surroundings, before she pulled her wand from her pocket and cast a levitating charm on her suitcases. However, one would question, why was she not at Hogwarts, or why had she not apperated to Hogsmead? Well, the answer to the first question was simple: She had taken a holiday in Germany--her adoptive parents were both German, and so she had learned both German and English. The answer to the second question was simple as well: She wished to experience the train ride again, a thing she had not done for eleven years. She then proceeded to make her way through the sea of students and parents. Aurora quickly spotted a goupe she knew well--what was it they called themselves? Ah yes, the Marauders, that was it. She then made her way over to them. "I hope you four aren't planning to cause too much mayhem this year," Aurora said, easily falling into step beside the Black boy--Sirius was his name, if she remembered correctly. “Maaaaaa! Stop that!” Oh the familiar whinings of the MacDonald girl, swinging her head about in an attempt to escape her mother’s grasp. “Well if you didn’t, grow, it, so… Oh for the love of, sit still!” With a pout the teenager did as told. She usually didn’t mind getting her hair done, but when her mother was pulling her hair out of her skull in the process and was going to potentially cause her to miss the train, she did. Her father just laughed, handing her mother the hair tie. “There, I’m done, happy?” The older woman asked, giving her daughter’s braid one last tug to make sure it would stay and an annoyed look. “Yes I am!” Mary responded, sticking her tongue out at her mother. Her father sighed. “Behave, keep your grades up, don’t ruin too many cauldrons this year… Eh you know the rest.” He grinned, taking her into a tight hug. "We'll see!" "Not we'll see! Will!" He laughed. It was clear that Mary was a daddy's girl, but she did leave a hug for her mother too. "Bye ma, dad! Take care of Max!" And with that, she took her luggage and ran off. Making a point out of her laziness, Mary had already been dressed in the robes she need for when she would arrive at school, proudly displaying the Gryffindor colors. Despite this she looked franticly for someone with blue and silver to no avail. "Eh just my luck, she's prob'ly on the train already... Stupid Ravenclaw..." Edited by Lynne, Jun 18 2009, 12:14 AM.

Peter laughed and followed his friends onto the train. "So what else can you do with superglue?" he mused, chewing his sweater thoughtfully. "It's meant to stick to anything, but all it ever sticks to for me is skin and clothes." Pete was never the ideas man. He did the utterly neurotic worrying, the checking for every last flaw, a lot of the donkey work, but even if he had any original ideas for pranks he'd consider them inferior to James'. --- Kingsley Shacklebolt's arrival on the platform was quiet, calm, and very, very noticeable. When you're six foot six and a bit, it's difficult not to be seen. His mother, a tall black witch with her straightened hair tied in a neat bun, was having a stare-off with his petite sister, who was eight years old and very put out that this was the start of Kingsley's last year and she wouldn't ever be able to go to the same school as him. She blew a very loud raspberry at her mother as they emerged from the wall and declared loudly, "I AM going on the train!" Kingsley rolled his eyes and bent down to her level. "You don't want to go yet, Lena. If you follow me on the train I'm going to ignore you the whole time. Ok?" She glared at him for a moment, then pouted. "Kingsleeey, why can't I come? I want to come!" "Because," he reminded her, stroking her hair, "nobody ever gets to go for more than seven years. And you'd have to leave early and you wouldn't be able to use magic for two whole years after that, not even to fly or anything." She scuffed her brand-new patent-leather shoes over the ground and then relented. "Ok." "Atta girl, Lena-bird," her brother told her with a grin, ruffling her hair with a big hand. "Keep writing to me, ok? Or I'll send Archimedes to bother you." She nodded. Kingsley stood up, bending slightly to hug both his mother and then his father, who slapped him on the back with the cheerful injunction, "Don't slack off this year, King." The seventh-year rolled his eyes. "No, Dad. It's NEWTs. I know. I'll work just as hard as always." "Promise?" "Double dog dreams promise," Kingsley replied in his deep, slow, serious voice, and the two men then proceeded at length to do a rather complex secret handshake before Kingsley glanced up at the big clock, muttered something unprefecterly under his breath and grabbed his suitcases, kissing his mum and dad on the cheek swiftly. "I'd better get a move on. The train is going to leave soon. Love you." And with that he strode off into the mass of parents and students, shaven head and broad shoulders standing out clearly above most of the crowd. |
