I believe it was their very first festival so it wouldn't be surprising if it were incompetence, or I might add inexperience, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were deliberate either. I can understand their point of view, a big name not being able to attend and them wanting to have a lot of people showing up but it still sucks big time. Incompetence or deliberate it is not good for their reputation. The only tweet I saw of Matthew's that referred to movies was on Sunday on my timeline so I just assumed he saw a movie on Sat. Even if it were on Fri. cinemas do have late showings and he is probably within 30 minutes from a theatre, if not less. New Hampshire is on the east coast. According to the director's blog he flew to Boston, which is about a 4-5 hour flight from L.A(?), and then was driven to Keene which I assume would be another hour or 2. It's unfortunate but we don't yet live in a Star Trek world where we can just beam to where we want to go. Edited by Mirri, Apr 14 2013, 07:04 PM.

Yeah. I wish I could teleport over to visit my sister. It's a 20+ hour drive. I think if we drove non-stop and didn't have a lot of traffic we could make it in 18 or so, but last time our GPS got confused because it responds to voice command and we didn't realize that Celtic music would make it think it was being told to reroute and ended up losing 5 hours. For the record, Magellan gps will respond to: "I'm gellin'", "I'm a felon", "Sir Ian McKellan", "melon" and other similar words. I saw that some twitter and facebook crazies are now accusing Matthew of ditching the film festival AND the CM wrap party to go hang out with his girlfriend. The film festival was done when he flew to NY and then went to Philly with her. It seems he's missing the table read for the final episode. Makes me wonder if he's not in it or something. I wouldn't be surprised given last season's finale. |

And here I just thought that it was because he went to attend the viewing of a screening of Magic Valley, you know a film written and directed by his good friend Jaffe, and in which Matthew himself makes an appearance. Anyways what's the fuss about missing a party? And what's the fuss about him wanting to spend time with his GF, one I'm assuming he hasn't seen for several weeks?Sorry if I'm sounding cranky and grumpy, it's because I am cranky and grumpy. I've worked at my new job 9 days straight and I am so tired right now. suceress, I don't think missing a table read is all that important. In the last chat Bruce Zimmerman said that Shemar wasn't at a table read so a crew member replaced him and instead of saying baby girl he said baby doll and they all thought it funny. |

suceress, ever since what happened to Albert and Rita Chretien I would never trust a GPS. A good old fashion updated map for me. The Chretien's were an older couple from British Columbia, Canada that were driving down to Las Vegas when there GPS told them to take a road that was actually only a loggers road. They got stuck in the wilderness with no one around. After a few days he went off to try to find help while she stayed in the van. She was found over a month later thankfully alive having survived by eating only a teaspoon of trail mix and a candy a day. Several months later, sometime last fall, his body was found. |

Yikes! See, that is why I still keep actual maps around-- and there are gas stations to stop at and ask directions. I agree with you about who cares if Matthew wanted to go have some personal time. It's none of their business what he does. I talked to a twitter friend who travels a lot and she told me that now many airports require people to arrive two hours before departure just to check in. That is for domestic flights. International is 3 hours. So that means Matthew would have to leave work in time to get to the airport 2 hours before boarding/departure and its not like flights are like taxis that leave whenever you are ready. He likely couldn't get a flight that would get him there in time and then he would have to make sure he had a flight back. If he was booked for filming around that time he'd have to worry about flight delays, cancellations, getting bumped off the flight due to overbooking, etc. So he would need a good window of free time to make the trip without having to worry about missing work. |
