well, I wasn't expecting much Reid since all the spoilers and pics didn't show him. Yep, hardly any Reid but a shout-out to Dr. Who fans who sees Reid as one of their own!! He doesn't contribute much to the profiling or the action. Sigh, he's relegated again to being a peripheral character with not much to do. Even at the end, he doesn't talk about his feelings about Prentiss's distancing herself but is only shown dancing around briefly. Heck, I didn't even bother to tape this episode. It would be an OK episode for a police procedural show but for CM, not much profiling. At least, we don't have a cliche cliff-hanger with someone's life on the line so I liked the family feel ending of the wedding better. Good-bye Paget, best of luck for future endeavors. |

Oops. I thought I had started a thread on this one but I guess I forgot. LOL. As a standalone episode where I don't think about the other episodes this season I might have enjoyed it more. It had little substance and a lot of fluff though. They were trying to do some fanservice with fluff and some things that didn't make sense to the characters. If Reid hadn't been perpetually screwed over this season it might not have bothered me as much. The unsub was completely contrived and unbelievable. Almost no real profiling. We still never got insight into the mind of the unsubs or what sparked this crap. They were just "disturbed" and "bad" or something. The whole thing of holding Henry hostage while forcing Will to do things was stupid and not believable either. Why the hell would Will drive them to his house? So what if they had his address. He could have refused and if they had killed him they would have no need to go after Henry. Garcia was incredibly rude and inconsiderate to poor Reid who just seems like a caricature. Garcia insulted him and he looked momentarily bothered but then seemed to not have any emotions throughout the episode. He's just a joke to the writers. He had absolutely no meaningful interactions with any of the characters. Even Strauss had at least one meaningful interaction. When the bit part characters are getting more story than a character who is supposed to be a main team member, you know something is wrong. I'm too tired to post all of my thoughts. I admit I wasn't too disappointed because I had my expectations low. It wasn't as bad as I thought in some ways, but was still disappointing. |

Better than I thought it would be but I wasn't expecting that much to begin with. I found the case itself to be totally convoluted. Then again I started watching it after 11 p.m as I had to work Wednesday evening and was quite tired when I watched it. I cringed when I first heard that Sebastian Roche was going to make another appearance on CM. I thought Prentiss' exit was going to have to be about another Interpol case from her past. I'm glad that it was just a consult. While I never cared about the Prentiss/Interpol story line as it went against what Emily said in her first episode about working in the midwest, I must admit that I quite like the idea of Emily leaving to go run their London bureau. I loved the sci-fi con scene but I hated it as well. Poor Reid got so close to finally going to a convention with one of the team members only to be dragged away right at the front door. The look on the poor guy's face when Garcia said they were leaving! I just wanted to give him a I just wish that after Reid said "you're welcome" to Garcia after she said she was not sexually attracted to him that she would have said something like "Sorry, but you're like a little brother to me". Then I probably wouldn't be so conflicted about the scene. Rossi can be such a snob sometimes but I still do love the character. I wish we could have seen a bit of Reid knitting the scarf. He said it took him weeks so I can just imagine him slowly, meticulously knitting the scarf, maybe with his tongue sticking out to the side a bit as he did so.I have to admit that while Hotch is the last character on the show that I wanted to see in a romance I do think he and Beth make a cute couple. |

Watched this again while I was not so tired and still found the case to be convoluted. Also like suceress said, there was no motivation shown for why Izzy was doing this other than she was not quite right. I think they've used that excuse way too many times this season. Forgot to mention that I quite liked the fight scene with J.J and Izzy, all except the slow motion sliding of gun thingy. Much better than J.J.'s previous fight. Did anyone else notice that Reid was not there during the wedding ceremony? Or was it just that my old tv sometimes does not get the full picture? If Matthew was not there the least they could have done was use his stand in. p.s. Does anybody remember Agent Green from The Big Game? Ever since CM_SetReport tweeted a "look who is back" pic I've been wondering who he is and which episode he was in so googled him yesterday. Apparently he was in The Big Game. He looks very vaguely familiar but I don't remember him in The Big Game and can't watch my dvd's right now as there is something wrong with my dvd player. Dean Lamont plays him and apparently he is a soap opera director currently working on The Young & The Restless. Edited by Mirri, May 20 2012, 03:39 PM.

Sorry for the triple post but thanks to the CM Victoria Day long weekend marathon on Bravo I can answer my own question. Agent Green looked to be one of the guys playing darts with J.J near the beginning of The Big Game. To Hell and Back is on right now and the actress who played the hooker being held by the mentally challenged brother is Lily Kershaw. She apparently wrote and sang the song played at J.J's wedding. Did anyone see the chat with Erica Messer and Rick Dunkle? There aren't enough middle fingers in the world to express my ire. They completely ignored all Reid questions and then the stuff they answered showed that they really do not have a bead on the show. They said that Morgan has this special bond with Prentiss and that he was the last to know she was alive so to make it fair he was the first to know she was leaving. Uh.. Reid and Garcia found out at the exact same time Morgan did that she was back... Ugh... And Messer compared herself to Morgan... They are so in love with themselves and their writing. About the only questions that got through were suck-up ones. Erica also once again proved her memory sucks by saying that Gina has been in every season since the Elle days. Except Gina was last seen in season 5. She wasn't there in season 6. They really need to fact check or something. I have pictures from the wedding scene with the people labeled: ![]() ![]() I think Reid was there but just was not on camera. The only reason I think this is because for a split second when I went frame-by-frame a hand appeared on screen off to the side and then some hair (but I couldn't get a cap of the hair-- it was too brief and blurry). I did get the hand. Now, it could have been Kevin, but given the size I would say it was Reid's. ![]() But why in the hell would they have Anderson and Strauss visible in the frame but not Reid? I wonder if they don't expect him to get his contract renewed... It just goes to show they don't give a crap about Reid or Reid fans. When a lame secondary character introduced just that season is on the screen in the center-- a prominent position-- and a supposed main character who has been there since season 1 is NOT, then you know there is a serious problem with the priorities of the writers/producers. yeah, it was a big disappointment not to have Reid more prominent in the wedding scenes. It's pretty disheartening that his character isn't treated with more respect. We still haven't seen him at his home and he still is the object of cheap jokes and ridicule at this arrested development. But I still hope that season 8 will be better since he will be due at least one Reid-centric episode since there really wasn't one this season. Also, he would direct at least one more. I guess I'm one of the few people who thinks he will return next year. well, now we're at the summer hiatus. This board will get kinda quiet so hopefully there will be summer hijinks and cool pics from Matthew to post about. At least, he's shooting a new movie.

I'll be honest that I'm not holding out any hope of changes next season. Erica Messer seems to think everything is great and that the season was perfect. Virgil thought that Morgan was "light" in the first half of the season 7 and that Reid was only light in the back half. They said the only thing they will change about their writing next season will be that they don't have Prentiss anymore. I don't think they got the message and actually are ignoring Reid fans. I almost think they are deliberately giving him less to do out of bitterness with Reid fans for wanting more of him. He was very un-Reidlike this season. Someone commented that it was the first season without Reid even though he was in the background. The lights were on but nobody was home. While the others were profiling, Reid seemed to be thinking about dinosaurs or something. He didn't contribute very much other than spouting useless facts. I really think the writers don't think of him as a useful character other than for comic relief. |

I think the writers get too lazy to research anything complicated for a genius like Reid to discuss so they just resort to using him as a joke or comic relief with his continued lack of social skills. There hasn't been any real challenging convoluted plot since Ed Bernero wrote that one with Jason Alexander with the bad wig and the Fibonacci sequence. That one really showcased Reid's brilliance and Ed was a strong writer (altho I have to confess I still didn't get how Reid figured out the house was rigged ).Since then, the writing has been formulaic and bland, moving the emphasis and pathos to the unsubs. Can they bring back the writers from season 1 and 2?? |

Joanne, I really wish they could bring the writers back. I think that the firings sort of left them bitter though. It wouldn't help unless they got a new show runner instead of the show ruiner they currently have. I didn't think season 7 could be much worse than season 6 but it was. I'm worried about season 8. |
