Some news about this episode and the 6th season:

"At long last, I may have an answer to one of this CBS drama’s most puzzling mysteries: What happened with Reid’s conspicuous Season 6 headaches? The answer: Blame Sue Sylvester! “The hope,” series boss Erica Messer tells me, “was that we were going to be able to explore those headaches a bit last year with Jane Lynch (as Reid’s mother), and get her take on it. But because of Jane’s schedule, we just were never able to.” While Messer cops to setting up a story that wasn’t (yet) be paid off, she notes, “It’s still a part of the character, and that it’s a sort of psychosomatic issue he has speaks volumes.” Turning to what is ahead for Reid, Messer cites this season’s 11th episode, where Matthew Gray Gubler’s alter ego reflects on whether he’s fulfilling his potential. “[Being so smart] at 14 you’re really, really special, because not everybody could do what you do. But at 30, it doesn’t feel like you’re as special as you once were.”

Thanks Harley Quinn. For some reason it makes me feel a bit better that the headache story line was going somewhere else than just a set up in case Matthew didn't sign a new contract. If the headaches are still part of the character though it would have been nice to get a mention once or twice. Nothing major, just maybe Morgan asking how the headaches are or a shot of Reid rubbing his temples, or taking a bottle of advil out of his bag, or seeing him wearing the bracelet he got in Corazon.
Has anybody heard any word as to whether Matthew has signed a contract for next year?

Contract negotiations normally happen during the summer hiatus between seasons.
From my understanding of that interview with Erica Messer, they are not going to go forward with the headache story unless/until they can get Jane Lynch.
She actually gave a different line of BS at other times. She never before linked the headaches to Reid's mother.
Basically it is a cop-out and she just doesn't want to do the headache storyline. She actually admitted in the chats that she didn't want to follow through on the headache story. So this is just her excuse to not do it. Instead she is planning a "long story arc" for Morgan.

I think she just doesn't realize how important Reid is.

A video promo has been put up on Youtube by CBS.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJqLPYkf5B4

Unfortunately a non-US friendly version has not been put up yet. :-(

Basically they mentioned that 40 years ago the zodiac killer struck and was never caught. Garcia says "Guess who's back" and Morgan says "The Zodiac Killer?" They say something about the killer having to grow up or something. A guy with a hood approaches two people on a park bench. Hotch notes there was overkill on the female victim (couples are being killed I guess) and JJ says the zodiac killer did the same. Reid says he a note was hand delivered to him. It shows him reading a note that says "You're not as smart as you think". The hooded figure comes up behind a couple on the park bench and the girl screams. I think there are gunshots. I'll have to watch again.

We really didn't get much out of it.

finally, the seemingly one and only Reid-centric episode!!!!
:run red: :run red: :run red: :run red: :run red: :run red: :run red:
Hope it's a good one since I wasn't too thrilled with the quality of the writing for Corazon (the case not the headache part). It's been toooooo long since there's a focus on Reid.
Bring it on!!!!!!!

I liked it too! Finllally a decent amount of Reid! thumb up
Though I have to say that the ending scene was one of those family scenes that just don't feel natural... Notthisagain
But Reid looked cute and that's the main thing! :D

I liked it too probably cuz it had more Reid focus than usual. That's the third unsub in the SF/Bay area, making us look like a hotbed of criminal activity!! It wasn't filmed here this time but in LA Chinatown. I wanted more Reid-stalking stuff but it turned out to be a red herring.
It was just strange that a team that close would have forgotten Reid's birthday.
But the ending kinda made up for that. Awwwww, seems like it was just yesterday that there was the birthday party for Reid's 24th and you can hear Morgan say, are you legal now?
Wow, now Reid is in his 30's and he still hasn't been able to get a date!

Me too, I was a bit disappointed with that. Overall I liked this episode though. Lots of Reid and lots of Reid figuring stuff out and lots of Reid smiling. MGG really has the sweetest smile. The usual complaints of Garcia and her computer finding out who the unsubs were and also seeing who the unsub is early on, but at least this time it was after the opening credits and not before.
I guess the drama with Emily's return from the dead could be a reason why they missed Reid's birthday, at least that is how I'm taking it. Poor Reid, he must have felt so bad that nobody remembered his birthday.
I loved that Garcia called Reid Boo at one point. The gifts at the end looked pretty big. I was kind of wondering what Reid got.
