Meanwhile, Hotch and Morgan butt heads when a team member could be in jeopardy. WOW, Su, you are right. Erica Messer = angry Morgan. Sooo, when does the Reid-centric episode air??? From the lack of Reid and how he's relegated back to sitting next to Garcia while everyone else is out on the field, I thought he hurt his leg again. This wasn't really a BAU case since there's no real threat of escalation and it's in a contained society. It was interesting but I wouldn't name it as a favorite episode. There wasn't really any hardcore proof that the Colonel? was responsible for the murders. They might not be able to prove that he personally took all those boys out for a spin or arrange for all those events to happen. He's a bad egg but trial lawyers would have a field day pinning anything on him. Not sure where they're going with the Strauss problem??? Does anyone really care???? |

The Reid episode will air in January. I was actually rather entertained by this episode because there was a mystery and plenty of twists-- although there were some gaping plot holes. Like, why did the BAU come in talking about this as if it really were a suicide pact (or why they would even entertain that idea) or how the dead kid's father was able to overpower 5 strong healthy boys. You'd think they would have ganged up on him. I felt the thing with Strauss came out of nowhere. I sort of got lost near the end with the whole Strauss smelling like alcohol thing. I actually liked Morgan saying he wanted to cheer her on until he realized she was drunk. Unfortunately the angry!Morgan is going to continue bc he won't be getting over Hotch's hiding things from him anytime soon. *sigh* They will continue the Strauss storyline although I admit I resent it because I would rather have them focus on an actual team member. Is it just me, or did things get weird when Reid came in the room to talk to Garcia and then said something about a 3-year old who had an encounter with a friendly apparition and then suddenly it seemed like the director rushed the scene? I don't know why, but suddenly things happened very quickly and the profiling was over and they were out of the room and I was confused. But then they had the long scenes of the boy running through the woods and stuff. I did like the transition from the photo of the academy to the actual academy. I love those sorts of things. I agree that they wouldn't be able to pin much on I also feel that Erica writes Reid as either a dictionary/encyclopedia or as a child. When he's not spouting facts the dialog she gives him is very childish, immature, and often dumb. She does not know how to write for him. Did anyone else notice that this time Reid made a peace sign with his hand instead of waving when he was introduced? Despite my nitpicks, I did actually enjoy the episode. I wish they had used Reid more (although maybe the dialog would have been so bad I would have been annoyed). Reid is the member of the team who has dealt with addiction. In this episode he seemed oblivious to a lot of things and he wasn't like that in earlier seasons. Reid has been shown to be very perceptive. I admit I didn't like that it was Morgan who noticed something was up with Strauss. To me it would have made more sense if it had been Rossi. Rossi feels like more of an equal to her so he wouldn't have pulled any punches and it wouldn't have seemed so inappropriate for him to confront her. Morgan being a younger subordinate didn't really seem like the right choice. Hotch would have been a better choice too since he was already privy to her issues. But Erica just wanted an excuse for Angry!Morgan. I admit, being a Reid fan, I would have liked to have seen how Reid would have dealt with the situation. I think he would have been a lot more polite than Morgan and he likely would have felt conflicted about whether or not he should tell anyone bc he knows what it's like to keep an addiction secret. The only thing I would like to see in relation to Strauss would be if she went to a Beltway Clean Cops meeting and we got to see Reid have an "Oh $#i+" expression when he first sees her. I am too lazy to give mgghairs to this one so I'm just going to say that I gave it a B+ because it kept me interested. |

Very late to comment, busy with work and christmas preparations. I quite liked this episode. Of course it would have been better with more Reid in it. Good to see Odo again. I thought the actor who played Josh did a great job without having much to say. What did he have, one line? And it was a famous Winston Churchill speech. I guess he didn't have too much of a problem memorizing it. I liked that they didn't show us the unsub right away. I liked that Hotch presented the case and not Garcia. I liked the Reid/Garcia scenes although they were too short. I do wonder why they used the Leverett guy as the apparition though. I got confused at that as I didn't catch what the name was. It was quite long too so I thought Reid was saying more than just a name. It was only when I looked online did I see what the name was and that it was that of a deceased U.S politician. I wonder what the reason for using it is. Not usually a fan of angry Morgan but I did in this episode. He seemed more subdued in his anger than he usually was. I like that Hotch had Morgan bring Strauss in for treatment, maybe to give Morgan a taste of having to keep something secret from the others and to show Morgan that he does indeed trust him? I did like Strauss/alcoholic part but I also am kind of ticked off that a secondary character has a more interesting story line than a regular character does. I too was wondering how on earth did Bailey's dad over take and kill five strong young men. |
