D'oh. Well, it really didn't have much to add. Since the episode already aired I don't think its a big deal. Hopefully someone will post to youtube with one that can be seen in other countries. I really don't know why CBS makes things blocked to other countries. It doesn't make sense. To make it up to you, I snagged these from Alana Jones' tumblr ![]() ![]() And this from the internet-- it's taken by Greg St. Johns. ![]() And this from Thomas Gibson's tumblr ![]() Oh, and unrelated screen grab of long-haired Reid from "outfoxed"

thanks for the screencaps. This episode was a bit different from the usual pattern. There wasn't as much suspense since you already know who the unsub was from the get-go. So the pace was slower and more elegiac, a very somber and mournful tone. I guess since the theme is about death and what people will do to find out what happens after death, the atmosphere wouldn't be all fun and games. I liked it and I liked that they brought up the fact that Reid's death experience affected him. I would have liked to think that such a profound experience made him more open to spiritual issues but he seemed too stoic and clinical. Maybe there wasn't enough time to really get into his true feelings about "seeing the light". As usual, there was too much time spent on the unsub but I did feel sorry for him. After such a difficult life, it had a sad ending. The ending with Rossi's ex-wife was really sad, too. I cried at the end and I haven't done that since 100. Hey, we only got one shot of a wet Reid. I would have liked to see him dive into the water but I guess the water would have been really cold. Did they just douse him with a garden hose?? |

In the picture above from Greg St. Johns, they used a water spritzer to wet Matthew and Paget down between takes. I wonder if they cut any scenes of Reid in the water. There are more larger higher quality screencaps from the episode at http://alanajones.tumblr.com/ I admit that I didn't like the way the whole Reid seeing the light thing went down. Reid has said in the past he doesn't believe in pure evil and gives scientific information. There are numerous studies and theories that give scientific explanations for why people see the light and feel warmth when they have near death experiences. It varies from electrical misfirings in the brain, oxygen deprivation, dream state (studies showed the brains of people who are technically dead are in REM sleep stage), and/or the brain putting in imagery to try to help itself cope with the situation of imminent death. I thought it was a disservice to Reid (and out of character) to not have him at least mention that there are scientific explanations but that the situation still left him unsure. Especially since there is no prior evidence that what he saw when he "died" ever had that sort of effect on him. It felt to me as if the writer was pushing his own religious agenda. However, I felt they at least tried to balance it out by having Prentiss say she only saw darkness and felt cold. I kept waiting for a platonic Reid/Prentiss bonding moment because of the mutual death experiences. |

suceress, I totally agree with you regarding Reid seeing the light. I wonder though if Prentiss' admission to only seeing darkness and feeling cold will be somehow brought back up at a later date. I think it was EM that said that Prentiss has not gotten over her ordeal with her fake death. I have to watch that scene over again but after viewing it last night I got the impression from Prentiss that she may be thinking "oh crap! Reid saw the light and I only saw darkness. What the hell is wrong with me?". I found this episode to be rather dull. Too much focus on the unsub, too much time on flashbacks and seeing the light scenes, although the scene where Chase (?) digs himself out from his grave was rather creepy. Disappointed that we didn't get to see Reid and Prentiss jumping into the lake to get Chase out. We've seen Morgan do that a few times over the years it would have been nice to see someone else get to do it. It was nice to see Reid cuff an unsub. I don't remember, has he ever said "you're under arrest" before? The ending with Rossi and Caroline was kind of touching. I wonder if any of the team know that he had a son that died the day he was born. |

I actually liked it the first time they showed the dirt-covered unsub with dark arms grabbing him. I thought it was very creepy. I don't believe Reid has ever said "You're under arrest" before. Joe Mantegna was asked about whether or not Rossi ever told anyone on the team about the baby and he said that Hotch would have been the only one he would have mentioned it to-- but he didn't say that he actually had. He also answered my question about who Rossi bunked with in "Exit Wounds". His answer was something like "Rossi has a lot of money... I don't share" LOL. So Rossi probably got a room to himself. Morgan bunked with Garcia, JJ would have bunked with Prentiss, so that means Hotch had to share a room with Reid. |

Yeah, definitely not enough wet Reid. This episode left me cold. Though I found "I'm a man of science" comment amusing. |
