For some reason, I'm hoping that the shocking news that Rossi's ex-wife has for him is that there was a child she bore that she kept a secret and that child is Reid!!!! Maybe that'll explain Reid's predilection toward going into profiling!

well, Paola, you wouldn't like this episode. Too many kids in distress!!! It was OK. It was a variation on the Angel of Mercy killer like the one where the guy was killing grieving parents at support groups. I figure out that the unsub pushed his Mom as soon as I saw the bridge. I liked the banter of clueless about women Reid. The whole "I've only interacted with exactly 2 women in my life because I'm such a nerd even after 7 years in the BAU" scenario is perpetuated here. I guess he'll continue to live in a vacuum jar in the basement of Quantico. The whole women shoes thing was cute. Heck, you don't have to be a nerd to be clueless about the ways of women. It's pretty much a guy thing.Soooo, Rossi's big shock! I was hoping for a hidden child but this is more ominous. Isn't getting all Kervorkian on your loved ones still illegal??? Is this a harbinger of a cliffhanger for Rossi when it gets toward the end of this season and Joe's contract is up for negotiation? So, basically is his ex-wife asking him to snuff her out with a pillow, trip over the plug of the ventilator, shoot her, or take her to a cliff at the end? Yikes, he could get into a lot of trouble.

I agree, this one was ok. Not more, not less. No big passion to one way or another. I liked the shoe conversations too, it felt more natural than the previous scenes that were supposed to be funny!

I was really tired when I watched this episode so I need to give it another viewing to catch things I'm sure I missed but I thought the episode was just ok as well. But I have to disagree on the shoe banter. I didn't particularly like it, it felt like a return of the previous 2 seasons dumbing down of Reid to me. While not all women are shoe crazy, many are and I would think a profiler would know about this. The majority of victims on this show have been women and even if Reid does not have much personal experience with women's closet I would think that he has seen enough of the victims homes and closets to figure out that a lot of women love shoes. I'm not sure what to think of the Rossi story line yet. |

Mirri! Yet another cheap shot at Reid for quick laughs. This one isn't as bad as the one when Prentiss said Reid's IQ drops 60 points when he looks at women. That one really burns my britches!!! ( wow, I really should get a life. I'm vigorously defending a fictional character AND sounding like Yosemite Sam while doing it!)

I thought this was an ok episode. There was nothing in it that outraged me or made me terribly angry. I liked the visual of the mother in the fantasy world wearing the flowing white dress vs the reality of her wearing a simple short dress. I actually liked the unsub as misguided as he was. He was more subtle and not over the top. I think he genuinely wanted to help. And he didn't hurt the little boy who kept crying for his mother. My minor nitpicks were, as already said by Mirri, that Reid has been looking at the rooms of female victims for years. Surely he would have counted the shoes and noted a pattern. And in 7 years he must have heard the ladies of the BAU talking about shoes at least once. In fact, I would expect him to know their favorite brands and styles of shoes by now. Unless they somehow managed to not talk about that in front of him. Another nitpick was that the first boy kidnapped told the last woman kidnapped that the unsub would hurt the children who refused to say they wanted the mother's pain to end. The unsub hadn't hurt the other little boy and there was no evidence that he would hurt the children just because he thought they were weak. But maybe the first boy thought that the second boy had been hurt or killed instead of released? I will say that I liked that the second little boy couldn't really give them much information. Small children tend to make terrible witnesses, and I loved the superhero phone he had. I wanted to see how that conversation went with the 911 operator. "911 what is your emergency?" BAU "This is the FBI, we were just checking to see what number the superman button on the little boy's phone was for" But they are federal agents so they wouldn't end a sentence in a prepositional phrase. :P My last nitpick is that I didn't like the whole Lamborghini thing with Garcia. It wasn't fun. It wasn't cute. It was too long and it was too annoying. If she were single and they were playfully flirting it might have been tolerable-- but it just fell flat for me. As for the Rossi angle, I had predicted that the wife would have either a child or cancer. I was starting to think cancer toward the end. Poor Rossi must have been all atwitter to not notice the signs of distress form his ex. His hopes of a renewed relationship blinded him to her body language and dampened his profiling skills. But I'm fine with that because he's only human. I admit that Joe's eyes welling up nearly brought me to tears. I think the ex-wife was overreacting. She was only just beginning to show symptoms and I felt it was too soon to be thinking about assisted suicide, but on the other hand she was probably panicking. There are many ways for people to kill themselves and Rossi wouldn't necessarily have to directly do anything. He could just be there to hold her hand while she takes some final measures. She could wear an extra morphine patch or two. (My maternal grandfather was sort of killed by a home health nurse because she put two morphine patches on him instead of one). She could drink something with a lot of ethylene glycol (antifreeze) or get some ether and inhale massive doses. If she still had some coordination she could make chloroform and inhale enough of it to be fatal (although that does burn the airways so it wouldn't be very pleasant). She could take some oral medication to put herself to sleep and put a plastic bag over her head to suffocate herself in her sleep. I do think it was somewhat unfair of her to ask that of Rossi because not only is it something that might make him feel guilty regardless of his decision, but if he actually does what she wants he would be breaking the law and that would be problematic with his job. He could never admit to Hotch what he had done because Hotch (as the supervisor) couldn't know. I don't know what I would do if I were diagnosed with ALS. I'd like to think that I wouldn't ask my family members to do something like that. To be honest, if things started to get bad and I was in a lot of pain, I would probably just off myself early to get it over with. Apparently he will confide in one of the team members about it. I wonder which one it will be. |
