Season 7 episode 1 Title: It Takes A Village Director: Glenn Kershaw Writer: Erica Messer Airdate: September 21, 2011 Synopsis: A committee headed by a senator investigates the BAU team over a case they allegedly botched. Note: This is not the official synopsis. I haven't found one yet and came up with this based on this article. The story will unfold through a series of flashbacks. Guest starring: Mark Moses as the senator that scrutinizes the team. Spoiler: click to toggle The title made me think of the phrase "the village idiot". It also made me think of "the Village People". I can see Reid as the cowboy, but I wonder who will be the fireman, construction worker, and Indian... yay. Joe Mantegna answered my tweet to tell me that Glen Kershaw is directing the episode. Here is the first page of the script for the episode. Spoiler: click to toggle

YAY!!! thanks for posting the latest info on season 7!! It makes me feel like the premiere is just around the corner, so to speak. Should be interesting to see how they squeeze in a case after explaining how Prentiss came back to life. Yeah, group hugs all around!!!!! |

No problem. I find it funny that Joe doesn't know how to spell Glenn. Although I imagine Glen is a common enough spelling. I sort of suspect Prentiss won't be back as the post-faked death version though. I assume she will be in flashbacks of a case prior to Seaver joining. It looks like it was when JJ was still there, from the set photos. ![]() Btw, if anyone wants a scruffy Hotch avatar:

But JJ will be back as regular... So it can be more than flashbacks.

Apparently Sergio will be mentioned in this episode (unless that scene gets cut). So they will probably do things as they did in "100" where they have the team in the present being grilled and then the events are unfolded in flashbacks. I think Ms. Messer doesn't know much about how the FBI works, because if the team really were suspected of some sort of wrong-doing, they would most likely be investigated by OIG instead.. although maybe that is just in cases where they suspect corruption. |

Well, just watched it. Lots of Morgan and Garcia. I think we saw more of Strauss than Reid. Some of the scenes that really should have had impact didn't pack the necessary punch. Something about it screamed amateur hour... I dunno.. The plot didn't really impress me all that much. I'm torn about the new Reid. He's not as smart and he's more aggressive. On one hand I like that he's more aggressive, but I miss calm, calculated, intelligent Reid. He could have answered the questions politely as he did when Strauss questioned him in 100. |

Well, the plot did hold my interest even tho I was switching back and forth from watching a Dodgers/Giants game. There was a lot of putting totally new characters into the mix that made it feel a bit contrived (like the McDermotts, Declan's Mom) but that was necessary to make it more interesting than Doyle just taking the kid.I'm pretty sure Reid shot at the unsubs with his eyes closed. That's pretty much how he did it in LDSK but he doesn't miss so it's OK!!! I liked the attitude Reid was giving the senator. That's DOCTOR Reid to you, buddy!!! In your face!!!!! Sassy Reid is cool!!! The hair was cute since it was kinda creeping forward into boy-band mode. Nice to see the team back together and looking forward to more sass and attitude! |

Did anyone else wonder whatever happened to Doyle's cronies? I know some of them were killed last season, but he had these all powerful cronies who could see what was going on inside the BAU office and then all of a sudden he's on his own? Does not compute. The best part was the affection-- even if all of it involved the ladies. I loved that Prentiss was hugging Reid and apologizing, and Garcia was putting her hands on Prentiss. ![]() ![]() Then we had Prentiss hugging Morgan who seemed rather stunned. He was out for blood and wanting to kill Doyle for all that time only to discover that Prentiss was alive. ![]() ![]() JJ and Prentiss holding on to each other was cute ![]() Then we had Morgan with his arm around JJ and Garcia touching Reid's shoulder.
