Alternate title to this one should be "Where the Hell is Hotch?" Well, I was expecting this to be a Morgan episode but I didn't know it would mean that Reid wouldn't even show up for the first 15 minutes and then would disappear for 10 minutes and then was gone for like the last 10 minutes. Strauss had more screen time than Reid. She certainly had more lines. With what he contributed to the episode (and the case) it seems Reid could have just stayed home and soaked in the bathtub instead. I was actually somewhat shocked that Hotch wasn't even in this one at all. Couldn't they have had a scene of him on the phone where we get to hear his voice at least? It seems they are bringing in Seaver for the purposes of exposition. To give the profilers a means of explaining what is going on to the viewers they will now have the team explaining things to her. They finally showed us Reid drinking coffee though. But he didn't add sugar. Despite the complete lack of Hotch and scarceness of Reid I did like the interactions that we got. The acting was very well done. I actually liked how Strauss seemed to be trying to intimidate and insult Rossi but he didn't back down. Some people are saying they secretly lust after each other. LOL. I also liked the music too. The way things started I was rather interested in seeing what was happening but I kept wondering if Hotch was going to show up and when and started to worry that Reid wouldn't show up. Upon first viewing I didn't find anything overly objectionable. Nothing made me angry or want to complain about it being total bs. So I give this one

I usually do not like Morgan-centric episodes so I was quite surprised that I actually liked this episode. I too was surprised that Hotch wasn't in it but truthfully I really didn't miss him. My apologies to Hotch fans, I am one too but I really didn't find his absence all that jarring, unlike JJ's absence whenever Garcia is presenting the case. The team did fine without him and I really do love Rossi when he is in charge. I really do love Rossi/Strauss scenes. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Rossi's secret is that he was once married to Strauss. I liked the explanation for Seaver's presence is that Prentiss is sponsoring (or whatever it is called) her during her remedial training. I like Seaver so far but I do admit to being a bit wary as to how they are going to explain her being a part of the team next year. Loved seeing Kyle Secor and Philip Casnoff again. I don't watch much tv these days so I get excited when I recognize actors from when I was a tv-holic way back when. I was a bit confused near the end when they went to arrest the wanna be congressman right after Strauss said not to arrest him. And as always more Reid would have been and always will be nice but I still enjoyed this ep. I'm just preparing myself for the episode when MGG directs his second episode. I wouldn't be surprised if it is going to be a Reid-less episode. |

Wow, it's really weird where CBS is taking this show. I wonder if it was TG's choice to not make an appearance on this show, forfeiting a paycheck to spend more time with family?? I hate to think that CBS is pressuring the cast to not appear in some episodes in order to save money but not have to force furlough days on all of them like with Paget. That was really weird to not have Hotch at all and to feel that everyone is expendable. But then, CBS thinks all we want is pretty young things as window-dressing for ratings to go up. This one was so-so. Maybe if I become brain-dead I would enjoy it more and just go with the dime-store novel feel of things. There seems to be a totally weird take on due process of law whenever the BAU feels that the unsub is a total "good guy". It happened in the pig farm in "To hell and back" and the one where Prentiss was hit by a truck inside the cop car. The doctor was convicted as a killer and he did kill again and yet the BAU takes him on a field trip without shackles or even an orange jumpsuit. He could have jumped them, killed them and took off while visiting the killsite. But they deemed him a good guy so it's OK to let them walk around freely. Then they were told by Strauss they didn't have any evidence to arrest the congressman yet somehow, just by getting in his face and him becoming angry, the police has evidence to arrest him even with stratches on his arm. They only had circumstantial evidence esp. if the woman's DNA got scrubbed off his fingernails. This is why CM will never have the respect of critics or award shows. It doesn't have to be a documentary but it will remain pulp-fiction. Not much Reid again and he didn't get to do much. He looked nice for the few minutes he was on.Missing the but still is cute in a clean-cut kinda way. |

Upon thinking about it more, the part where they arrested the guy did aggravate me. I think Erica Messer just likes writing episodes where Morgan gets to act like a thug. Having him storm in to the guy's house and basically commit battery by grabbing the guy with absolutely no legal grounds.... Ugh.. And it reminded me of Scooby Doo as Morgan explained what the guy did and then they cuffed him and took him away. I half expected him to make a remark about meddling kids. I also noticed that Strauss told Morgan flat-out that he was expendable. |

Blurry shot of Reid but you can see what looks like it might be a heart-shaped post-it note on his wall (I zoomed in and it is on his side of the glass).![]() Here is the newspaper Reid was holding: ![]() Reid's desk is a tad bit messier than usual. I was afraid that a nightmare I had last week was coming true! I had a dream that they made an episode in which was no Reid at all. Well, it may come true anyway now that we've seen they made one without Hotch too.I'm with Mirri when it comes to Morgan episodes, I've never liked one very much. But at least there was Reid making coffee and twisting his hands. But those were some significant and annoying errors that Joanne pointed out. |

thanks for the cool screencaps, Su!! Does it seem like Reid's ties are clashing more and more with his shirt?? Maybe it's a trade-off now that he's styling more like GQ but ya gotta have that quirkiness?? I like that you captured some Reidism like pointing the one finger up while talking and that he still reads a newpaper instead of getting news on the internet.

Too bad you can't tell from the screen cap at that size, but the main article on the page is about the girl, Kelly, from Reflections of Desire. And in the Drug Raid article they just threw in a bunch of random words. LOL. I zoomed in and could see they just had words that didn't make any sense as a sentence so it looks like they got lazy. I didn't finish getting all of the screencaps from it yet. Did anyone else notice that while Reid did get coffee and sip it, he didn't put sugar in it? |
