Name: Spencer 'Throttle' Sharpe Age: 19 Sex: male Side: Zion History: Spencer Sharpe always felt as if he was living two lives. The only child of a rich business couple, urban royalty, his dad was CEO of a software company that produced computer games. His mother always wanted him to be a young gentleman, so he was home schooled, spoilt rotten, and made to take etiquette lessons. But his heart lay in her father's work, or rather in the type of work his company did, particularly motion capture. Aged eight, he saw a woman in the motion capture room there, doing martial arts, and begged his parents to let him learn to fight. When they finally gave in, his life was turned around. His instructor, Hayden Fentiman, was an animator for her father as well as a martial arts instructor. He got Spence into computers, and by the age of fourteen, he was a certified script kiddie, with the hacker alias Geddon. By the age of sixteen, he was a Matrix conspiracy theorist. Then, Liam was hauled out of a session by some creepy guys in suits and sunglasses, leaving him a note. The Matrix has you He was freed on his sixteenth birthday, Agents closing in on him, but not fast enough. Since then, he's been training in Zion, and was recently recruited to join a ship, since he has a lot of skill for one his age. He doesn’t have any freaky powers, he’s definitely not a ‘One’-type, but he does have an insane grasp of the technicalities of the war. Personality: Although he was called a nerd in his old neighbourhood, due to a natural ability to assimilate digital information, do Calculus in his head and programme media players, Spence would always vigorously deny the charges. He, he claims, is a geek. The difference being that he has a level of social capability, even if he’s not always fond of showing it. He will admit to being a math genius, to the extent that actually writing down his working in Math tests is hard; he gets the answers before he realises he has them, then has to retroactively engineer a method that suits the answer and the question. The ability to retroactively engineer things in his head also makes him amazing at logic puzzles and sudoku. Where he really comes into his own, though, is in front of a computer. Anything you need doing computer wise, from setting up to cleaning up to installing technically illegal software, he can do it. In some cases, he can make improvements on the software, which is what he sees as his job description. It’s called white-hat hacking, searching out and fixing bad code, but since being freed from the Matrix he’s been known to distribute some black-hat codes; viruses and the like that do more harm than good. He’s pretty flexible in how he uses his skills, because sometimes the greater good comes from doing something ever so slightly immoral. The whole world has gone to hell any way, so who’s even going to notice his little bits of code? Spencet is used to attention, although he tries to stay out of the limelight at the moment; his self-confidence took as much of a beating as his body did when he was removed from the Matrix and put through the training sessions that everyone goes through. He doesn’t like being defined by what he can’t do, and to that end he pushes himself to learn things to help him in case of other disabilities in the future. He can sign, he can read Braille, and he plays a mean game of wheelchair basketball. He doesn’t limit himself to one sense, but tries to use all of them. He’s even developing a programme that will allow him to hack blindfold by translating what’s on screen into audio in the form of Morse code. But even he’ll admit that this programme has a long way to go before it’s even in beta. Appearance: ![]() Although he rarely admits it, Spence is the spitting image of his in-Matrix father, except for his eyes and skin tone. He has roughly the same colour eyes as his 'mother', although Spence’s are a rather intriguing pale green colour to her more vibrant emerald, and his are usually unblinking. Like a snake, his father said, proudly for some reason. His skin tone also comes from his mother; a rather Mediterranean style tan from years of holidays in the Bahamas. Spence doesn't burn, he just browns, and he’s used to high temperatures and humidity. From his father, though, he gets just about every other aspect of his physical persona. The brown hair that’s close-shaved, the rugged jaw and the five o’clock shadow that accompanies said jaw when he doesn’t shave, the ability to buy a round of beer with only minimal chance of being ID-ed… He’s seen pictures of his father at the age he’s at now, and the resemblance is uncanny. He’s a shade taller than the man, at exactly 6' tall to the old man's 5' 11 3/4", and a shade heavier too, at 183lbs. He has a tendency to move in a somewhat catlike manner, balancing his weight on the balls of his feet. This leads him to move a lot more quietly than most people, and he has been accused of sneaking up on people when moving as noisily as he can without becoming a one man band. It’s not that he tries to go unnoticed; he has a reasonable sense of style and can even pull off a white suit without looking like a total moron. More often, though, he’ll do the usual boy thing: jeans, shirt, and sneakers. Somehow, though, he manages to make these outfits seem like some kind of uniform. It might be his posture, it might be the way he marches more than he walk normally, but somehow you can always tell he was an army brat in another life. He’ll readily show off his tattoos; he has a mock Blade vampire glyph on the back of his neck and a Celtic style tribal tattoo running up and around his lower left leg What Does Leo Like the Sound Of?
