Zion-To-Be

The evening sky was slowly transitioning from a purplish red to deep blue and then a jet black void. The city stood in the distance. It was merely a dark silhouette against the last of the light peeking from the horizon behind it. What was first a faint engine rumble - now grew louder. The sound closed in and the motorcycle sped around the curve of the sparsely forested road. Its sleek body seemed to be a dull red color when in the shadows cast by the trees but revealed a vibrant crimson when the occasional glow of the street light hit it. The driver, who's face was hidden behind a helmet, was wearing a black leather jacket, a backpack, and dark grayed-out jeans. Slowing down, the bike pulled of the road, into a rocky parking lot. Here stood a small building with a bluish neon sign, "Luigi's Cafe", flickering slightly in the right front window. Iris picked a spot to park near the entrance. Removing her helmet, she got off the bike and headed inside. The coffee aroma was typical here day or night. Iris found her usual seat - a booth on the left with a window view of the outside lot. She smiled and waved to the waitress who was wiping down a table on the other end of the room. Removing her backpack, she sat down. The place, though a little old and shaggy, had a rather welcoming homelike feel. This was the main reason why for the past two months she had come here on several occasions.
