It has been hundreds of years since the days when Team Eclipse terrorized the Mintel Region. The harmony between people and pokemon has been broken after a mysterious plague spread throughout the entire planet. All affected pokemon went into a berserk state, destroying everything in their path. Humanity was able to hold them off for a time with their own pokemon, but soon many of their own became affected. Humanity fled underground, hoping to flee from the same pokemon that were once their friends and partners.

In an effort to save the human species, a group of scientists created the pokemorphs, created with the stored DNA of pokemon mixed with human embryos. "Even if the human species is doomed, through these 'pokemorphs' our legacy can continue" said the scientists leading the project.

Mysteriously, as quickly as the plague started, it ended. As humanity left their underground homes, they found a world in ruin. Not only had the plague run its course, but all the pokemon affected had returned to normal. Humans re-forged the bonds they had with pokemon and the pokemorphs joined humanity in an effort to re-build a ruined region.

Yet, the humans resent the pokemorphs despite being their creators, and the pokemorphs in turn resent humanity. Pokemon have had a strangely negative reaction towards these strange new mixtures of their own DNA with that of humanity. Reconstruction has been slow, and crime is running rampant. Can the three groups of humanity, pokemorphs, and pokemon rebuild a ruined world? Or will the tensions between them tear them apart?

Normal battling
Battling in the Mintel Region is streamlined compared to some other RPGs. All battles are watched by a moderator or administrator whose job is to oversee the battles. Each pokemon has a certain amount of HP, and your job is to wear down the foe using attacks. Trainers take turns attacking, and the amount of HP lost each turn is based on how clever your strategy, how powerful your pokemon, and how powerful your attack is. You also have the option of dodging a move, however dodging too much will be considered godmoding, which may make a referee step in.

Referees post once all trainers have taken their turns and posts the results. Things such as RP skill, strategy, and stats are all taken into account to see which moves hit and which moves miss. If a moderator is already involved in the battle, he can incorporate this into his RP posts, though abusing this will also be considered godmoding. Because of this, referees will monitored to see how objective they are. If it's a battle between two Player Characters and not between a Player and an NPC, another referee will have to step in.

Experience is earned at the end of the battle based on the strength of the foe and your skill at roleplaying.

Unregulated battling
In this new world of chaos, a new form of battling has emerged. Unregulated, or lawless, battles have no rules whatsoever except one: anything goes. Trainers can send any number of pokemon out and are able to help out their pokemon if they are a pokemorph. The number of trainers is also non-standard: there can be any number of trainers participating at any one time. In extreme circumstances, it's more like a gang war than any sort of pokemon battle. The pokemon league strongly discourages this form of battling, but because it's nearly impossible to enforce any sort of ban on unregulated battles it's technically legal.
