As the pokemon plague spread, humanity believed themselves to be doomed. In an effort to continue their legacy, they created the pokemorphs in the hopes that they would be able to survive if humanity cannot. Now that the plague is over, the pokemorphs find themselves in a strange position where their own creators resent them. What are the pokemorphs? Pokemorphs are essentially humans infused with the DNA of pokemon. Pokemorphs come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but most look like humans with the features of pokemon. For example, a pikachu 'morph might have yellow pikachu ears on top of their head, red cheeks, and a lightning bolt tail. What are their powers? Pokemorphs have strange abilities similar to the pokemon they resemble. The example pikachu 'morph might have great agility and be capable of shooting lightning. They can learn moves that their species can learn, such as thundershock and agility for the pikachu morph. However, pokemorphs aren't as powerful as pokemon, so it would be wise to keep this in mind. When it comes to pokemon battles, it has been universally agreed that aiding your pokemon with pokemorph powers is unfair, and so all use of pokemon moves mid-battle has been banned. This is especially true in cases where a pokemorph is fighting a human. If both sides agree to allow this, however, this rule is waived. What are some of the rules to playing as a pokemorph? The first thing one should note about pokemorphs is that pokemon have a strongly negative reaction to them. The reasons for this are still being studied, but it appears that the sight of a human with pokemon traits causes a psychological aversion in pokemon. In practical terms, a pokemorph will have a much tougher time gaining the trust of their pokemon partners than a human with a similar personality due to this psychological factor. Pokemorphs breed the same way humans do, and are capable of interbreeding with humans. The result of such unions are usually pokemorphs themselves, though in rare situations a human will result. If a human with a pokemorph parent has a child with another human, the result may also be a pokemorph of the same species its grandparent is. If two pokemorphs of different species have a child, the child can be of either species, but not both. If the child has a grandparent of a species different from the parents, it may also be that species. For example, if a squirtle and a pidgey 'morph have a pidgey child that then has a child with a charmander 'morph, the child may very well be a squirtle. It is still unknown why a pokemorph can only be one species even though it has the genes of multiple species. Pokemorphs, like pokemon, are capable of evolving, but the situations in which they evolve are vastly different. While pokemon evolve under various conditions, pokemorphs evolve in certain stages of development. Pokemorphs evolve once at the age of 13 and once at the age of 18. If they only evolve once, it will be at the age of 14. However, these are merely average ages. A pokemorph belonging to a species that evolves early may evolve early also. The converse also applies: late-evolving species such as Tyranitars can take as long as age 23 to reach final evolution. If a pokemorph has multiple evolutionary paths, the path they take will be dependent on personality, environmental factors, and what species the parent pokemorph is. For instance, the child of a glaceon and a leafeon morph will probably evolve into either species based on the environment and personality. With a strong force of will, a pokemorph can forcibly alter which pokemon they become. Research into creating pokemorphs of legendary pokemon is currently banned. A few years ago, a project attempting to create mewtwo 'morphs resulted in the resulting pokemorphs going insane. All but one were killed; the surviving pokemorph, "Alpha", is still missing. In practical terms, no, you cannot be a legendary. |
