Ok so we all love music right

right

so why not have a topic about all those really cool music games

talk about guitar hero or rock band or rock revolution (or lips if you like singing hannah montana songs or whatever)

no fanboyism because we all know deep down no one really cares if "harmonix shouldn't have joined MTV because guitar hero will beat rock band anyway and spock is cooler than data etc."

Rock Band:
I think Rock Band's new RBN is going to be sweet and could bring alot of new genres and bands into the game that we love (please Creedance Clearwater Revival and Focus get RBN) but alot of idiots are just going to use it to get their little "1000 Xbass fcs man i am so cool i am the best drummer in rock band because i used all my money to buy 1000 more songs and i 100%ed them all"

Veteran... Wait, what?
Music games are good, but with GT and RB out at the same time there is an awful lot of conflice out there. That said I love Guitar Hero, my favourite being Guitar Hero 2, one being clunky and 3 having not enough rock-ness in it.
I have never played Rock band, not becuase of any fanboyism, just that I have yet had the opportunity or inclanation to buy a copy. I remember playing vib-ribbon, though. That was fun, if a bit repetative. I also tried the original music and music 2000, although whatever I tried to make came out as German techno. Not bad, but not what I wanted.

Nothing
I hope they actually put some GOOD music on there...
Beams of fire sweep through my head
thrusts of pain increasingly engaged,
sensory receptors succumb,
I am no one now,
only agony.

My crimson liquid so frantically spilled,
salivating red,
at the prospect of my ruin,
my doom.

Title? Whazzat?
I keep seeing commercials for this FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Made me want to go download a ton of Beatles songs. Cause, you know, vinyls suck for car radios and MP3s. I just wish I could find a few more. Sgt. Pepper's~

Hopefully gonna buy the big bundle, since I lack and Rock Band instruments.

Yay,
The only music game I have actually enjoyed without the need of friends around to keep me amused is Elite Beat Agents.

Fuck yes Elite Beat Agents.

Audiosurf anyone?

Audiosurf

Audiosurf is an award-winning puzzle/rhythm hybrid game created by Invisible Handlebar, a personal company created by Dylan Fitterer. Its track-like stages visually mimic the music the player chooses, while the player races across several lanes collecting colored blocks that appear in sync with the music. The music used in the game is chosen from the user's own library, from almost any DRM-free format, as well as standard redbook CDs; in addition, Audiosurf includes the entire soundtrack to The Orange Box as part of the download. An "Audiosurf Radio" tab is also included on the "Song Select" screen that allows the user to play the Audiosurf Overture, as well as a shifting selection of songs by featured Independent artists

Yay for copy paste... :P

I rather enjoy this game because I get to use my own songs and the different game play modes.

hay guys just got back from a four day binge of The Beatles: Rock Band

This game is absolutely amazing. Everything I could have asked for down to a tee. Only 45 songs? It's damn well worth it. All of the songs are very easy likeable, even Helter Skelter. This game is incredibly fast in Story mode, however. But every song (except The End) is available at the beginning of the game, unlike with RB1 and RB2. If you even only somewhat like the Beatles, you'll love this game. The harmonies are actually quite easy, as long as you know pitch. I've actually done drums and Vocals at the same time (Mostly on Cavern '63 to Budokan '66, I didn't now some of the Abbey Road songs.) More later, gotta get back to playing.

To the victor go the spoils...
Considering that now they've gotten peripherals for all the classic rock n' roll instruments, barring the keyboard since that'd look even more ridiculous that the guitar with just 5 buttons on it, I really cannot see how they are going to progress the Rock Band/Guitar hero series.

The only differences between the games now are the tracklists, and with DownLoadable Content available for relatively lost costs (around £2 per song) those are rapidly becoming moot. The only obvious evolution will be for the next band simulator game to have just the program for playing the songs and the visuals on the disc/download and just come with a set amount of money for whatever songs you wish to download. Or recycle the graphics from the old games and make the disc/download free. Maybe some form of pricing division could be made so this game could use any currently available DLC RB/GH songs.

Whilst making this in-pontentia game totally reliant on the user being online may seem hazardous one of my favourite PS3 games, and one of the launch titles, Warhawk is 100% online and it is one of the ongoing successes of the PS3 (i don't know if it is on other systems). Ergo dedicated online console games can work.

I was into music/rhythm games back when they weren't popular! >:C
Back in the days of Amplitude and Gitaroo Man, which are both insanely hard but with delicious soundtracks <3. I loved Amplitude's cyberspace/virtual graphical style, too. More flavoursome than Audiosurf's or Rez's visuals, though when you play for more than an hour and then look away from the TV the walls of the room start sliding upwards :P
