xD we have a new law since 2006 that every youngster has to be in school till 18 at least.
But if you're gonna go to college/uni you can add another 4-6 years anyway!
I presume you previously had a system similar to us? Finish at 16? College till 18? Uni until whenever?

College seems to mean a different thing in england than in scotland, too. Up here, Colege is more or less the same as University, but its generaly of a lower calibur. From what I gather, English college is the same as our 5th and 6th year of high school.

Nothing
It just depends on the name of the building. Like, community colleges teach people from 11 to 18 years old, so I just use "school" and "college" pretty much interchangably.

But yeah, college is another higher education option, parallel to university. To paraphrase Doctor Evil, morgoth, we're not so different, you and I. :P
Beams of fire sweep through my head
thrusts of pain increasingly engaged,
sensory receptors succumb,
I am no one now,
only agony.

My crimson liquid so frantically spilled,
salivating red,
at the prospect of my ruin,
my doom.

For us.. University is the highest of the highest.. only the most gifted young adults go to university.
College is split up in MBO and HBO (lower and higher college). Then comes Uni.
MBO is usually 4 years, HBO 5 years and uni 6 years x3
I'm going to HBO art college btw!

It's similar to the system America uses by the looks of it.

English College rules tend to vary crazily... they range from places running university-level courses or vocationals, to places teaching A-levels or foundation courses (the prerequisites to going to university in England).

I'm at university at the moment, doing my second year of my degree. And it's difficult :C
