Here it goes (again) - OK Go |
|
Beams of fire sweep through my head thrusts of pain increasingly engaged, sensory receptors succumb, I am no one now, only agony. My crimson liquid so frantically spilled, salivating red, at the prospect of my ruin, my doom. | |

Markoolio - Kärlekssång från mig The only good Swedish Eurovision entry in ages. Fuck yes Markoolio. Too bad he didn't even get past the first round. ;_; Edited by Makku, Mar 1 2009, 12:26 PM.

Eurovision is a farce nowdays; it's too damn political. Meshuggah - Rational Gaze (Remaster) lots of extended sections, and louder everything. The vocals sound a little distant now, less in your face (even though, it's still screaming and howling XD). Squint your eyes to see clearly. Blur reality to make it real Let focus go from your deceiving eyes to know what's been concealed We've all been blinded - Subjects to visual misinformation A systematic denial of the crystalline To see the fine grain, to read the hidden words The context of parallel truth - Devoid of fragmentation Our light-induced image of truth - Filtered blank of its substance As our eyes won't adhere to intuitive lines Everything examined, Separated, one thing at a time The harder we stare the more complete the disintegration. -Dissolution Eyes re-opened, Reasoning focalized, Receptors activated Perspectives distorted The ladder beyond our grasp The twin-headed serpent forever hidden Where's the true knowledge - Where engines of the sane & insanity merge The clarity. The unity Reality untouchable, transparent, invisible to our fixed, restricted fields of vision Existence taken for granted. -Absolute Possessed, owned, controlled By the common sense-infected rational gaze Onward forever we walk among the ignorant Never stray from the common lines |

for such a harsh sounding band, their lyrics are suprisingly subtile |

One of the only scandanavian metal bands not to sing about death ![]() But yeah, I was surprised at the lyrics, too...it adds a certain level of depth to the song; unlike a band such as Cannibal Corpse, who have songs like "Hammer Smashed Face", and "I Cum Blood"

Ehw. That's just gross. If you cum blood you must have some really severe sexual disease. |

On a related note, I was watching some show last week that was pretty much part of a multi-episode documentary of metal music. In one episode, the host interviewed several bands in the death metal and black metal genres about things like violence and views on religion, as well as showing album art from Cannibal Corpse... really gruesome stuff, but still oddly interesting. metal bands are interesting -because- they are gruesome. Kinda makes you wonder what the hell is in that person's mind to write songs like that XD |

That's what really puts me off about most death metal and black metal: the extreme violence of the lyrics. I like to think that music is a spiritual thing, something that makes you think. Bands that sing about a grizzly murder (without a purpose) just don't do it for me... |
