Anime too Americanized?

It used to be that I was fully engulfed in all things anime, from the works of (Hayao Miyazaki, Akira Toriyama) and films such as (Spriggan, Appleseed, Grappler Baki, Ninja Scroll). I am less inclined to watch some of the crap they have out nowadays for the simple reason that I think that it has become too Americanized. Am I wrong, and can anyone suggest something for me to watch?

A good american "anime" is Avatar, the Last Airbender. Because it wasn't made in Japan, there are no weird/confuesing/annoying edits for the American version. I think it's really funny too and the voice actors are much better then other english voice actors for american dubs.

Hmmm this depends entirely on where you look. On American TV, you're going to see American cartoons with an anime influence, like Airbender and Ben 10. Cartoons such as Totally Spies and Code Lyoko also appear to fit in the same group, but they're actually from France. Regardless, they're cartoons with an anime influence, and I also notice more and more of them on American TV.

If you don't want to bump into a lot of those, you will have to look for anime elsewhere.. -kisses the internet!- I suggest that you go to myanimelist.net or anime-planet.com for anime recommendations. And Veoh.com and Crunchyroll.com are good place to stream anime. REAL anime. =)

Since you like Spriggan, I recommend Akira. They both seem similar. And there are other Appleseed movies so be sure to check them out. You might also like something like Black Lagoon, Berserk, Samurai 7, and Gantz. To be honest, I think some of the best anime are the older ones. A handful of new ones coming out today are too cliche for the purpose of entertaining the mainstream anime audience.

And since you like Miyazaki, check out other anime from Nippon Animation (World Masterpiece Theater). An example of that would be Romeo's Blue Skies. I also recommend Dennou Coil which looks so much like Miyazaki stuff. And lastly, check out director Satoshi Kon's works like Paprika. Crazy fantasy fun!!

And be happy!! A new Miyazaki movie is out!!! ^___^ Ponyo on a cliff by the sea.

Mimi, do you know if Cowboy BeepBop and Lupin the 3rd(is that it?) are animes or at least have an anime influence? Ever since I first saw them, I wondered about it.

Sorry, just realized you asked a question! xD As far as I'm concerned, those anime you just mentioned are authentic Japanese anime. ^^
