Greetings and welcome to this year's Maverick Olympics ceremony. We've certainly come a long way since last year's Maverick Olympics - they didn't go so well, as some of the ideas that we tried did not work because we assumed a few things about human nature that weren't quite as simple as we realised. But we've had almost two years since then - yes, one and nine months, since the 2008 Maverick Olympics actually started, I believe, in January of 2008. We've had a long time to look at what went wrong, and a long time to fix it. And I think we have. But it won't take very long for us to find out. I'd like to thank everyone who's turned up for the launch. I'd like to thank everyone who will be coming and participating, during the week. And I'd like to thank everyone who's shown their support. And right at the forefront, is the MyLEGO Network Organisation. They've been showing a lot of interest in the Maverick Olympics, and they've agreed to sponsor the event. We already have a few of their members here, ready to start competing, and hopefully we'll see some more in the near future. For those of you who haven't seen or heard of the MyLEGO Network Organisation, go and have a look. It's a pretty big website, with a lot of points of interest, and it can be found at www.MLNO.org. I'd just like to emphasise a few things, while I'm here, about the rules. I can imagine there may be some confusion. Firstly, anyone can compete, apart from MHOZ administrators (myself and Redout22), and banned members. Redout22 and I will be running and judging the events, and the banned members.... well, they're banned. If you're reading this and you don't have an account with the MHOZ, you're also invited - it's easy to sign up and get started, and if you don't want to stay around afterwards, there are no obligations whatsoever. Events. You can do as many or as few events as you please, but entries have to be handed in before the events close, at 9:30pm (GMT) on Sunday 25th October. There are no teams. You can collaborate, by all means, but you can't hand in entries collectively. Also, please make sure that your entries are all your own work. The events are about our own creativity, and not anyone else's. Anyway, after the events close, Redout22 and I will judge all of the entries, and shortly afterward, we'll announce the results. Hot Shot medals all round for those who have won events, and for the person who's won the highest number of medals during the week, will be declared the 2009 Maverick Olympic Champion. We didn't have a champion last year. It all kind of fell apart near the end. So whoever wins this, will be the first to do so. And I hope that will be a real honour. I certainly hope that everyone who participates, will have a great time. I hope I'll have a great time providing this event. So, to all of you, my best wishes - play well, get medals, have a fantastic time. Topic for the Maverick Olympics events. that Edited by (=Nemesis=), 18 Oct 2009, 09:29 PM.
