That's right - the Olympics are going ahead as originally planned, and in a format almost entirely different from last year's attempt. So, for those of you who weren't there the last time, there's nothing to worry about. Soon and very soon, the Maverick Olympics will begin. They will last for one week, and there will be a number of events being held in parallel; you can compete in as few or as many as you wish. There are no entry forms, no red tape - nothing to hold you back from the excitement that we hope we'll be able to provide. How soon? On Sunday the 18th of October, all of the events will be announced and opened, and the Olympics will commence. If you can't make it that day, there's no problem. We expect that some people will be starting late, some will be unavailable for some of the time, and that some people won't even make it to the judging at the end! All that matters is participation. Be there, or be square. I would like to mention at this point that the MyLEGO Network Organisation (MLNO, at www.MLNO.org) have agreed to sponsor the event, in exchange for which they will be encouraging their members to consider participation. This is vitally important to the success of the event, and hopefully things will proceed as planned. Anyway... that's all for now. More information will be available in the next few days. What do you think? |

All right then, people - all pretty much ready to get started for tomorrow. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get hold of Redout22, but he should be available to help me with the proceedings tomorrow. I see there are some new faces around here who seem to have turned up for the Maverick Olympics, and a couple of familiar ones who sort of disappeared earlier. Anyhow, it looks like there's a fair turnout. Hopefully more people will be turning up during the week itself. Tomorrow, the events will begin... they'll probably begin in the early evening (GMT), and I know that quite a few of you will probably be in church in the morning, so I'll try to time the opening so that you don't miss it. If there's hardly anyone around, we'll wait a bit, but we can't wait too long. Don't be too surprised if you see that the MHOZ is closed for any period of time tomorrow. We've got some preparation to do beforehand, and it won't take very long, so, hang in there. It probably means we're very nearly at the point of opening the events. OK, well, I've got to scoot fairly soon, so I'll say good bye, and have a nice evening. Looking forward to tomorrow! |

I won't be available from 10am-6/7/8pm EDT on Sunday. I'll be missing for a few hours on Monday. Tuesday I should be getting back into the swing of things, depends on the driver's ed schedule. But even then, I won't be back for real until Friday. |
