The drama…24 dvd 1-7

For a show that I used to enjoy watching 24 every week, the past two seasons have become a tiresome and predictable hour of glorified violence, bad acting and plots which verge on pure fantasy. The high point of any given episode is the last ten minutes - in fact, once an episode is written, it should be edited down to ten minutes and the whole season shown in just four episodes.
The writing is no longer intellectual; it's a question of counting up the plot twists and explosions, Chloe's awkward glances as someone walks away, Jack making his usual hero speech or trotting out "I'm a federal agent!" and the typical arrogant and self-absorbed CTU director who ends up apologising to Jack because "we should have listened to you".
Quite frankly, it's amazing that the writers still have jobs. Their lazy style and painfully obvious attempts to add drama really have diminished the overall quality of 24.
