Wayne slowed his paced towards her and simply began treading the water, with little difficulty once he had heard her question. A small smirk appeared on his face and with one hand, absent-mindedly scratched his head, though the loss of the hand in his action of treading of the water caused him to sink slightly. "Well, to be honest, it's called falling into a river and not wanting to drown.....Some might called it an advanced course in swimming so to speak...." he trailed off, his thoughts momentarily traveling into his past of when this had occurred. His other hand resumed treading the water, causing him to rise slightly higher above the water. He then resumed moving in her general direction, though with far less grace and poise then she had demonstrated. "What about you?" he asked curiously. "Where did you learn to swim?" He figured that despite the fact that she hadn't been to open with her past up to this point, that this was an impersonal enough question that she would have no issue with answering. He couldn't help that he had felt a growing interest in knowing more about the woman who seemingly captured his heart. |

Lily stopped swimming as she looked at Wayne then smiled. “My mother taught me to swim.” She said fondly, it had been her mother that had taught her to be completely at ease in the water. Not that it’d been difficult to learn. Though she had not finished her training with her mother, she’d learned at least some ways to defend herself. Elemental users, or mages, were not very common, so it was unlikely that there was one amongst the group that was hunting her. Lily smiled again as she swam around in a circle around Wayne though not within arms reach. “You’re not a bad swimmer yourself.” She said with a chuckle as she continued to swim a circle around him. “Though your way of learning to do so must’ve been rather frightening. I’m surprised you didn’t develop a fear for water, or being in water at least.” She said smiling. She’d heard of many a case when such a thing had happened and people were left traumatized. She found that the more time she spent with him, the more she became intrigued with him. It wasn’t often that she’d taken any particular interest in a person, but she found Wayne rather interesting, in a subtle kind of way. Like there was more to him than what one saw. She wondered what it was. |

Wayne smiled and chose to simply tread the water as he watched her as she swam in circles around him. He noticed how she seemed to be keeping her distance from hi,, which was fine to a point, but in reality he still felt the urge to just take her into his arms and hold her in a passionate embrace. However, it was almost like she was aware of his desires. He was actually somewhat surprised that she had mentioned her mother, especially having only heard her mention her parents a handful of times previously. Though he was glad that she was able to be more open about her past and parents, even if it was a more trivial topic such as learning to swim. He found himself chuckling at her response to how he learned to swim and how he could have developed a fear for the water. He thought about it for a moment and he certainly could have understood how being exposed to what he had been certainly could have upset any child. However, he found himself unable to argue with the results at this current point since thankfully it was his ability to swim that would have kept him close to Lily. "Yeah well I suppose getting throw in the water and order's to swim would upset anyone. But I got over it," he said with a small smirk on his face. He continued watching her as she swam in circles around him, not taking his eyes off her for a second. If nothing else, she looked radiant in the water, he skin and hair dripping water. he blinked and shook his head, not wanting those kinds of thoughts to enter his head right now, as he doubted Lily would appreciate them. However, he did make a feeble attempt at reaching out for her, hoping to get her to swim closer. "Well it's a good thing this lake is here, we can go swimming any time...." he trailed off as he continued to watch her. "Is there other stuff you enjoy doing as well?" he asked curiously, still wanting to know more about her. |

Lily frowned for a moment, slightly upset that anyone would see fit to thrown someone in the water for the simple purpose to order them to swim. People could die in such a way, that seem a horrible waste of life to her. She watched him for a moment, thinking of what he’d said but then he started talking again so her frame of thought was distracted as she gave him her attention again. She smiled then, thinking it was true they could come swim whenever they saw fit. And she rather enjoyed the idea. She sighed happily, swimming always had a way of soothing her and making her be in a much better mood. She felt more at ease. “Well, there’s a great many things I like to do. We all have our likes and dislikes after all.” She said, purposely avoiding a direct answer. Not for any particular reason, just to tease him in a way. She found that she rather enjoyed his smile and good natured manner. It was not hard to see that there wasn’t evil intent within him, perhaps that was why it was easier for her to trust him. To a certain degree at least. “But I don’t always have the opportunity to do things I enjoy. Like swimming, that is something I hadn’t done in quite a while.” She said as she continued to swim around him though still keeping out of arms reach though she’d noticed him reach out for her, or at least it’d seem that way. “Though I am more fond of ocean waters than the sleepy waters of this lake.” She said with a chuckle. “Or fishing, I rather like fishing, but it is something that before meeting you, I hadn’t done since… I left home.” She said trailing off as the memory of her parents’ death came back to mind. But then she placed it aside and give him a small smile. “What do you like to do?” She asked curiously. |

Wayne continued to smile and watch her as she swam in circles around him, even when she indirectly refused to answer his question at first. He had quickly realized that with Lily, information was something that wasn't easily given and in fact it would probably take some doing in order to find out everything about her. He noticed she still remained out of his reach as she swam around him, though it was most likely intentional, though whether she just didn't feel like being touched, or was simply being coy with him, he couldn't decide. He listened to her intently as she spoke of the ocean waters and her past experience with fishing, and took special note at how she mentioned her leaving home, which he had already figured was a tender subject for her and not something that she would probably discuss willingly. He hoped that one day she would be able to tell him everything, but he also felt that this was something that she would have to tell him on her own, and could not be revealed through him asking her questions or trying to figure it out on his own. As such, he would simply be patient until she felt that she could openly talk to him about her past. He was sure however, that something had gone on of a serious nature, and that she was definitely keeping something from him, though he would overlook it. Again, he would simply exercise patience until she was ready. Pushing these thoughts out of his mind, he thought for a moment before deciding to answer her question. "Well, I was always a big fan of fishing myself, though I have never actually seen an ocean before..." he trailed off, imagining the immensity of the body of water compared to his humble lake. "But I would definitely like to see it at some point. I really like to read actually, but you couldn't tell since I don't have any books in the cabin. I've been meaning to buy some new ones for some time...besides, I've got other things that interest me far more at this point in my life...." he trailed off again, giving her a little wink, then playfully splashing some water in her direction. |

Lily stopped swimming altogether and simply stared at him in astonishment. She was that shocked to learn that he’d never seen the ocean, so much so that she forgot that regular people were not supposed to be able to stay afloat if they remained completely still the way she was at the time being. She frowned thoughtful for a moment trying to say something but nothing would come to mind. After a moment she blinked and focused her attention on him again, she’d barely heard the rest of his comment. “You’ve never seen… the ocean before? Not even once?” She said with such sadness and shook her head disbelieving. She was so much a part of the ocean she could not conceive the thought of any one person not knowing what such a beautiful thing looked like, felt like, smelled like. “At all…” She said puzzled. How could that be? She remembered the times she and her mother had swam in the ocean, the many times she’d gone out on with her father on a fishing boat. The beautiful sea storms she’d experienced, and the training she’d received from both her parents in water and air elements. She could not imagine a life without knowing the ocean, such a thing was just impossible for her. |

Wayne blinked and tilted his head slightly at her apparent shock of him never seeing the ocean before. It was clear from her reaction that the ocean had been apart of her life at some point, most likely she had lived near it. To him however, the ocean was something he had only heard about from his elders and sailors that had occasionally came inland who would spread their tales of adventures on the high seas, though he had no idea what could be considered true and what could be considered an embellishment on their part. He shook his head no in response to her question. Far more interesting to him at this point was that Lily was no longer swimming or even moving her arms and legs, and yet somehow she was staying afloat. Now he had nowhere near the experience she seemed to have in the water, but he knew that if he stopped moving his arms and legs, that he would sink like a rock. And yet, there she was, not moving but still floating. He even peered through the water below her and made sure that she wasn't standing on something before bringing it to her attention. "How the heck are you doing that?" he asked, his voice filled with curiosity. He didn't know what to think, and his mind didn't even consider what the possibility might be. |

Lily gasped startled as she listened to Wayne’s question, and even though he didn’t specify whether he meant her floating without moving or not she realized then her mistake. She lost her concentration and gracefully sank under though only for the briefest of moments for she swam back to the surface before he could have too much time to fret. She smiled mischievously at him and shrugged, “It’s a secret.” She said as she swam closer to him. “Perhaps one day I shall tell you.” She said and chuckled playfully as she gracefully dove underwater and swam around him until she was within reach of his ankles and then she gently tugged him under until they were both under water and she swam over until she was in front of him. She smiled at him and then took a hold of his shoulders as she swam back to the surface. “You do know how to swim underwater do you not?” She asked suddenly worried perhaps he may not, which was why she’d brought him back up before he panicked and took in water. |

Wayne's smile quickly faded when he saw her sink under the surface of the lake, the questions in his mind quickly replaced with a natural concern for her safety. He was just about to take a deep breath so that he could go under after her, when she finally resurfaced. He let out a sigh of relief and was about to question her about how she managed to float in the water again, when she told him that it was a secret. His eyes narrowed slightly, clearly aware that something was going on, but before he could bring the issue up again, she disappeared under the water again. He looked around, following her underwater as she swam by his legs and gently tugged on them. He took a deep breath before allowing himself to be pulled beneath the surface of the lake, then watched as she swam in front of him. For whatever reason, he couldn't help but notice how natural and beautiful see seemed underwater. She then took a hold of his shoulder and brought him back to the surface, not that he needed any help. He glanced over at her as she held onto his shoulder, suddenly concerned that he was unable to swim under water. He gave her a small smile and nodded "Of course I do. Though you probably should have checked before pulling me under," he said with a chuckle. However, her concern for him touched him and he slowly brought his arm up around her waist, somewhat holding her close, though she could easily get away if she was uncomfortable. "Though if I get in trouble, I'm gonna need you to help me out," he said with a wink. |

A small gust of wind picked up around them as Wayne held Lily but she ignored it as she smiled brightly, “Of course I’ll be able to help you just fine.” She said with a chuckle and splashed a bit of water his way. “The problem would be if YOU had to help ME.” She said laughing. “But I’m sure you’ve got skill enough to swim for the both of us.” She said in mock skepticism. “Though thankfully, I won’t be needing rescuing from the water any time soon.” she said with a giggle then let herself slid from his side and under water then swam around him a couple of times before surfacing again and splashing some more water at him. “So, you like to read.” She said curiously as she remembered to keep herself afloat the way she was supposed to. “Do you like reading on a particular subject?” She asked with a smile. She found herself rather curious about him, though she did not completely ignore the fact that he may be slightly unto her, and her abilities. She frowned thoughtful for a moment, wondering what exactly he was doing out here in the middle of no where all by himself. He didn’t exactly seemed to be a commoner or a farmer, she seemed at least somewhat a learned man. She was about to ask him but then decided against it. She would not ask that which she was not sure she could answer herself. |
