Wayne turned around to face Lily as she made her way into the kitchen. He glanced at her and couldn't help but arch an eyebrow at the combination of clothes she was wearing. He wanted to tell her that there was no need for the pants, but immediately thought better of it. Instead he simply smiled and nodded in acknowledgment of her having finished, then turned around and resumed packing some food for their potential lunch. He had packed half a loaf of bread along with some meats and cheeses. He had also packed some fruit that he had purchased while in the village.

While he continued the preparation for the picnic that they would have, he found his thoughts to once again be drifting to the previous night. His mind swam with the many thoughts that had gone through his head over the course of the night. Everything was included from the fact that he had actually slept in a bed next to a woman, to the sudden and crazy storm that had seemingly come out of no where, to the fact that she had lain on his chest, and finally to the kiss that they had shared. He sighed inwardly, never before had a woman so inflamed his heart and filled him with desire. Never before had there been a woman who dominated his thoughts the way that she seemed to. He wasn't entirely sure of the extent of the feelings he had for her, but it was then that he made up his mind to expand on those feelings today. It was such that those feelings were the kind meant to be shared with another special individual and not bottled up inside.

Finally, after a few more minutes of preparation, he had put everything in a basket and proceeded to move and set it by the front door. He then glanced around the living room, simply making sure he hadn't forgotten anything, then bent over and scooped up the basket again. Then he turned to Lily with a small smile and without giving it a second thought, outstretched and offered her his free hand. "Ready?" he asked simply. He didn't know if she would indeed take his hand, but he wanted at least some sort of contact with her, if nothing else, to supplement the experience that the two had shared the previous night.

Lily had watched him in silence while he got ready to go fight back a smile as she watched him pack the food. It must be a male thing… they don’t often forget about food. At least, her father hardly ever did. Then he was done and she was about to turn for the door but then he’d offered her his hand, so she looked at his hand then at him, feeling rather puzzled really, in a dumb sort of way.

It was so strange, that she’d spent so much of her life trying her hardest to avoid contact with people in general and here was this man she’d hardly met all but undoing what she’d worked so hard to do over the past ten years. She wondered what it was about him in particular that called to her in a way she found extremely hard to ignore. She gave him a small tentative smile and took his hand, she was not going to be rude to him, and it occurred to her then that after last night perhaps he expected her to be more… open towards him. Or was that how things usually progressed? She’d never developed any sort of attachment to a man before, and other than her parents she didn’t know much about how things were supposed to be between a man and a woman.

The village she’d grown up in was very different from general society, or at least, it seemed to her. Or perhaps she simply hadn’t noticed such things when she was a child and she now did because she was older. Still though, people in her village were loving and caring and kind. But the people from the big cities seemed rather different… strict, bound by an intricate rule system. She’d seen many a person frown at her for the simple fact that she was a young woman traveling alone. Yet that was not the case for young men traveling alone. She had not been old enough to be initiated into society when her parents were still living, though her mother had started talking to her about such things. She sighed thoughtfully, she wasn’t sure she cared to follow the rules of a society she was no real part of. But at the same time, she did not like the idea of Wayne thinking of her as behaving like a common harlot. She would not dishonor her parents in such a way. “Ready.” She said quietly.

Wayne did his best to contain the excitement he felt when she smiled and slipped her hand onto his; however he found it hard to remove the smile from his face, hard as might try. He gently squeezed her hand and the contact between the two of them suddenly became all that he could think about. However, he quickly got an excuse to finally look away as he led her her out the door, shutting it behind him. He then lead he down the steps and into the sunlit clearing that existed outside the front of the house.

The air was warm, with only a slight breeze every so often. The sun broke down through the layers of leaves in the trees to create exquisite patterns of light and shadow across the edges of the clearing; as well as the path at opposite end that would lea them to the lake. The forest was alive with life, with birds chirping and occasionally shaking a branch that they had landed on and squirrels that leapt from branch to branch or scurried across the ground. However, these things hardly registered to Wayne as his focus lay on the feeling of her hand in his.

Now that there was room that hadn't existed in the doorway or the steps, instead of leading her, Wayne took what he considered to be a more appropriate spot at her side. And together, they made their way across the clearing to the edge of the path, then proceed down in the direction of the lake. As they made their way down, Wayne would occasionally glance over at her out of the corner of his eye, despite attempting to pay attention to the path that lay before them. He hoped she didn't notice as he figured it would strike her as odd that he kept looking at her, but he found himself unable to control himself, almost had if the sun made her glow with with an irresistible radiance.

Lily smiled despite herself, it wasn’t that she didn’t want to be around Wayne, or spend time with him. It was that she considered it almost not worth taking. A risk to him. Every minute they spent together brought him that much closer to danger that he did not need to concern himself with.

Regardless of the effect that direct contact with him was having on her she was still on guard, as always. Casually she looked around as if admiring her surroundings while she sensed the air around them, then further ahead, she wanted to make sure there was not sent around that should not be there. Thankfully the hunters after her had not yet discovered she was an elemental mage, they would not take the necessary precautions, though that would hardly help if they surprised her up here. There were twelve of them and only one of her, two if she counted Wayne, and she did not want to count him. He should not be involved in this.

She was distracted enough that she’d not noticed Wayne glancing at her ever so often. She was more concentrated on making sure there were not unwelcome visitors around. Slowly they made their way down the path which she noticed it was relatively unmarked. Though a tracker would still pick up a trail, if she made it windy enough at night… it would erase some of the evidence. She frowned thoughtfully, she did not want to risk Wayne discovering her but she also felt she should take every precaution.

They finally made it down and the lake was within view, carefully she sensed the air around them and around the lake, past it and down the path that lead into the village. Nothing, for the time being. At last she allowed herself to relax and she smiled. She was very fortunate that there was a lake around, she’d been inland for far too long. She missed the ocean terribly.

When the lake finally came into full view in front of them, Wayne's heart skipped a beat, reminded of how they first met as well as when she had gone swimming and he had seen her...exposed. He laughed inwardly at how he had freaked out and begun blinking furiously in an attempt to locate Lily who had merely gone for a swim.

As they approached the waters edge. Wayne set the basket under a nearby tree in the shade, so as the further shield the contents inside from the heated rays of the sun. He looked out to the water, which shimmered under the overhead sun. Occasionally fish could be seen swimming under the surface of the water and even more rarely; one would jump up from beneath ways, creating a little splash and an ever-expanding ripple of rings. "The water looks great, doesn't it?" he asked, glancing at Lily again with the same smile still on his face.

Then, he did the hardest thing that he had had to do in recent memory, which was letting go of her hand. However, he managed to cover up the difficulty of the ordeal, and simply let her hand slip from his grasp. He really had no desire to ever release her hand, but it would have made it rather difficult to remove his shirt, which he did shortly there after. He discarded the garment by tossing it near where he had put the basket of food.

Lily had to fight the urge to reach out for him when he’d let go of her hand. Which was ridiculous really. There was no reason for her to feel like that, like breaking direct contact with him made her feel like she’d lost something. She realized that the tingling sensation on her fingertips this time around had nothing to do with her magic.

Lily nodded in agreement when Wayne made the comment about the water. She turned to look at the lake and sighed, even if it wasn’t the ocean, the lake still had a pull on her though it was certainly different from the ocean water she was so used to. She turned her attention back to Wayne and blinked as she watched him take off his shirt and just toss it aside. She wasn’t sure if she felt happy at the sight of him, or slightly angry that he had the freedom to do such a thing.

She smiled mischievously as she wondered what his reaction would be if she just decided to go around shirtless. The thought made her chuckle, of course she wouldn’t go around shirtless, that was ridiculous. “It really is a lovely day.” She said thoughtfully.

Wayne glanced over at her as she spoke about it being a lovely day and nodded in a silent agreement. The weather was perfect and there wasn't a cloud in the sky; which again returned his thoughts to the previous evening and the storm that had suddenly rolled in. At this point he no longer made the connection between it and Lily, instead focusing solely on her. His only afterthought on the matter as his gaze returned to the water was that he hoped that another storm would just roll in and bring an end to this perfect day.

Wayne then proceeded to kick off his sandles and took a few steps into the water so that it was just hitting against his shins at this point. The water was shallowest in the general area where they stood; then proceed to drop off short beyond that point. Wayne then turned around and faced Lily with a small smile, and silently beckoned her to join him in the water.

Lily arched a curious brow as she watched Wayne then realized he was waiting for her to join him. “Uh… just a moment.” She said as she walked away from him and went behind the tree trunk, which didn’t provide much privacy but it was the best she could do at the moment. She just didn’t entirely feel comfortable undressing right in front of him. She sighed as she sat down and removed her boots and set them aside and unbuckled her daggers sheath from her thigh and set them down next to her boots.

It felt strange for her not to be on the move, to deliberately stay in one place when she was perfectly able to move along. She stood up thoughtful and removed her pants and shirt and frowned looking at her chemise, really there could be better clothes for her to swim in, she just didn’t have any with her at the moment, and since it wasn’t right to swim naked with a man you barely knew this would have to do. Out of habit she reached for the pendant she carried and sighed, then walked back to where Wayne was waiting for her, but instead of stopping in front of him she just went right into the water seeking what little cover it could offer her.

“Hmm, it’s a good thing you can swim you know. Its not a skill many possess.” She said as she swam further into the lake.

Wayne watched a curious interest as Lily disappeared behind a nearby tree, unaware that she was simply preparing herself to enter the water. While he waited for her reemergence from behind the tree, he glanced around the clearing that surrounded the part of the lake that they were at, scanning intently for anything out of the ordinary, however upon detecting nothing, he returned his gaze to the tree that Lily was currently behind.

When she finally came back into view, his mind became a total blank as she wore nothing but a chemise, which was revealing enough in its own right. His face reddened slightly as he found it impossible not to stare at her more revealed figure, taking in every inch of her skin that was exposed along with every curve and definition that was visible. He continued to stare at her as she strode past him, moving into the deeper waters of the lake until she began swimming as opposed to walking. He found himself unable to stop smiling at the sight of her.

He chuckled slightly in response as she made the comment about him being able to swim, then proceeded to follow her out into the waters. As he slid further and further into the water, it rose up his body, past his knees, his stomach (hardest part btw) and until it was right below his chin and his feet were barely scrapping against the bottom of the lake as he kicked his legs and moved his arms to keep his head above the surface. He was by no means an excellent swimmer, but he was certainly capable of staying afloat and moving through the water at a modest pace. He moved through the water in her direction, hoping to catch up with her. "Well, it likes like your far more at home in the water then I am eh?" he asked with a grin as he continued swimming towards her.

Lily smiled watching Wayne then sighed, yes she was all too at home while in the water, though the calm water currents of the lake were not what she was entirely used to. “Yes, I’m rather comfortable in the water.” She said mildly as she swam around at a leisurely pace.

She stopped as she turned around to face Wayne again. “So where did you learn to swim?” She asked curiously. It wasn’t often that she met people that could swim at all, it wasn’t a skill that many though necessary… unless they were on the naval force. And even many of the sailors there didn’t know how to swim, which was rather tragic really. Pirates were also known to swim, for obvious reasons of course. She looked at Wayne carefully, he did not seem the pirate type, but if he was, that wasn’t really her problem was it. She’d known many a pirate that were far more decent that many in the royal guard.
