as a Canadian that has been born & raised on socialized health-care, I never realized it was such a sensitive issue south of the border. the main issue seems to be choice and being unfairly taxed... yes, fascism involves state control over private industry but redistribution of wealth (ie the collection of taxes) is something that evey -ism practices. the difference in my mind is the right wing redistributes amongst the elite and the left redistributes amonst everyone. it is indeed paranoid and selfish times when so many are so unwilling to worry about those less fornunate. We are willing to pay income tax and gas tax and sales tax to pay for roads and water and infrastructure that everyone uses but not everyone contributes equally to.... why is the idea of a health tax so troubling? |

Well, in Republicanism, which is what I consider myself (in the classical sense of the word), there is a right way to tax people and a wrong way. People should be able to opt out of most every tax in existence. Property and income taxes are about as tyrannical as it gets. But no, you are seeing an illusion. Both sides are redistributing wealth to the elite. Big government is working IN CONCERT with big business. It isn't either/or...that is a false perception within a phony political paradigm.
BWhahhaaaa...please. Not wanting to be a part of a degenerate statist system doesn't equate to not caring about those less fortunate than me. That is like saying being against the war is being against the troops. My wish to see a systemic change in my country is very much rooted in my compassion for those less fortunate. Government isn't necessary to help your fellow man...
Gas taxes are usage taxes. People can opt out of them. Sales taxes as well. Income taxes are lite form of slavery. We never needed them in this country to build infrastructure before...why are they needed now? Nashville doesn't need Washington DC to build its infrastructure. A "health tax"? Do you realize how f^cking Orwellian that sounds? Ok....lets just say its is governments role to play Jesus....good health, or at least SOMEONE'S definition of it, is a "RIGHT"...ok....we are all entitled to government playing mommy.....is food a "right"? Should it not also be "free"? It is the very heart and soul of good health so how is food not also a "right"? Please explain... And I'm guessing you've seen Sicko, right? Well, please tell me why Mr Moore didn't talk about all the free healthcare that goes on in the US thanks to private charities and not for profit hospitals? Not mentioned ONE TIME in his film. Why not? Edited by Roxdog, Feb 14 2008, 12:13 PM.

this is about universal healthcare which hillary clinton DOES NOT SUPPORT her shit is way off and trash to the hughest level. Gas taxes are usage taxes. People can opt out of them. Please explain...[/quote] opt out of gas tax and what happens? as far as I know you cant opt out of paying sales tax well building infrastructure in 1920 was probably a bit less expensive (and regurgitated ron paul quotes are getting old) Nashville kinda would considering we are under the constitution and not the articles of confederation not really Orwellian considering he himself was a socialist (actually read his books before quoting him) well food is a right and it can easily be said that even the homeless don't go hungry in this country, there are government agencies to make sure of this ( though changes need to be made in them) and the not for profit charity hospitals? go to one when your sick or have had an accident and you'll see why they weren't worth mentioning ( I am in no way a big moore fan though) free trade = mad cash for corporations who care about nothing more than the bottom line, this does not yield innovation or more motivation to be good doctors rather than monopolization 9which would almost for sure happen in free trade health) granted america has a long way to go before it can legitimately adopt a universal health care policy similar to pretty much all of the world but in principal it is definantly not a bad idea, just not right now |
