Rambo is a Racist movie

I'll sum up the movie. The pure, wholesome, white people from the USA go to backwards, barbaric Asia to "save" the yellow people and bring them Christianity. The evil savage homosexual yellow heathens capture the good white people (in the middle of a Bible lesson), and take them hostage. Who can save them? Only the good white mercenaries from the USA, Britain, and Australia, along with one token minority (Chinese, Korean, or Japanese). So the brave white people, led by American Rambo, save the good Christian missionaries, while killing a whole lot of evil Asian savages.

And thats the film. I thought we were done with such bigoted nonesense. But wait, Stallone wrote the damn thing, now it all makes sense.

This film should have been called "Rambo: The Great White Hope"

:(

Just like Star Wars?

(From the Movie "Chasing Amy")

"Those movies are about how the white man keeps the brother-man down--even in a galaxy far far away. Check this. You got cracker farmboy Luke Skywalker, Nazi poster boy blond hair blue eyes. Then you got Darth Vader, blackest brother in the galaxy. Nubian god!

Now. Vader, he's a spiritual brother, down with the force and all that good shit. Then this cracker Skywalker gets his hands on a lightsaber, and the boy decides HE'S gonna run the whole fucking universe! Gets a whole KLAN of whites together and they go bust up Vader's hood, the Death Star! Now what the fuck do you call that? Gentrification!! They gonna drive out the black element to make the galaxy quote-unquote safe for white folks! In "Jedi," the most insulting installment when Vader's beautiful black visage is SULLIED when he pulls off his mask to reveal a feeble, crusty old white man! They trying to tell us that deep inside, we all want to be WHITE!!!"

You can't even tell asians apart?

And also, if there is a minority in a group of predominantly white persons... they are just a token?

I think i see who the racist is.

Bongo- are you able to look at person on tv and tell if they are chinese, korean, or japanese??? i sure can't. you are quite skilled if you can.

as to one minority within a group of white actors being a token, it is indeed a very very common Hollywood phenomenon. it has been this way for 50 years. sorry to burst your naive bubble.

Yeah, like the black guy in the Lethal Weapon series, the black guy in The Shawshank Redemption, the black guy in Bruce Almighty, the hispanic characters in the HBO original series Oz, the black guy on the TV series House, the korean girl in the TV series Grey's Anatomy and Oh yeah, in the late 1960s there was this movie called Night of the Living Dead wherein the Hero was a black dude, and the anti-hero was a middle class white dude....etc, etc, etc.

But yeah, down with christianity tho. Seriously.

I can. After having so many friends I'm able to do that. That may be the reason though.

Admit it, you would have loved it if the yellow people were substituted with brown people.

It's a fucking movie. All American action movie. That means, leave your brains outside, grab your popcorn and enjoy the explosions. Do not read into shit that isn't there.

Was that a racist comment?

if this movie wasnt soo grotesque and didnt have such obvious racial/religous overtones, i wouldnt have said a damn thing about it. but anyone who understands modern american cinema know what this movie was about. if the movie took place in africa, or the middle east, or south america, i would have the same complaints.

Europe is the cancer, Islam is the answer?

Arbor, many movies will have its overtones just to get people like you to think and talk about it.

Sometimes, but not always there are hidden subconscious marketing going on with movies. So reading into them is only available in the director's cut and, even then as Kevin Smith noted, "But there’s no room for a giant mechanical spider” and he (the producer) said “this is going to make the film. I know it. I’m John Peters. I want my giant mechanical spider." Any subvert advertising isn't obviously available to the audience.

"Rambo" opens with uncensored documentary footage of massacres and human sacrifices in Burma, a country that has been plagued by civil war for decades. With this horrific display of crimes against humanity, all I could hope for is that the movie wasn’t going to exploit these casualties. It had better respect the dead.

Astoundingly, against my expectations, this fourth entry in the John Rambo series manages to put a human face on the atrocities in Southeast Asia.
