With the communitive knowledge and wisdom of many people who visit this board.

We walked down the street and we're seen by cop, he watches us go in bar. 10 minutes later we came out and walked back. We then walked half a block, he pulled up shined a light on us.
Is it legal if your walking along 1am on a street for a cop to stop you, demand ID, search you, and rummage thru your wallet? and say he saw us enter and leave the bar?

Is it legal for them to force you to stop recording them with your camera? Is it legal for them to open your cell phone and turn the power off?

I know my answers give your's if you are very certain. Links etc etc is welcomed,

thanks

I think they need to have some kind of probable cause or reason to detain you and especially search you. You need to ask them to clarify why they are doing what they are doing. At least that's how it is here in oz.

It is not illegal to film police - unless the laws have changed or are different where u are.

Yeah, they just need a cause to search you. They technically can't do it for no reason, but refusing to comply is considered reason enough.
