Iran has up to 6,000 enrichment centrifuges: Ahmadinejad AFP Sunday, July 27, 2008 President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that Iran has boosted the number of uranium-enriching centrifuges to up to 6,000, in an expansion of its nuclear drive that defies international calls for a freeze. “Today they (the West) have agreed that the existing 5,000 to 6,000 centrifuges do not increase and that there is no problem if this number of centrifuges work,” Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by state radio. Ahmadinejad said in April that Iran was working to install 6,000 more centrifuges at an underground hall in a plant at its nuclear facility in Natanz, where it already had 3,000 running. http://www.prisonplanet.com/iran-has-up-to-6000-enrichment-centrifuges-ahmadinejad.html http://www.spacewar.com/2006/080726113119.w0m17wca.html |

think about it... what is nuclear enrichment for? 1) electricity production 2) fissile material for bombs. why would iran want either?> just looking at #1: iran uses a huge amount of its own petroleum & natural gas to generate electricity. at some point in the future, given declining wellhead production, iran will be a net importer. if you want to sell your gas/oil at highest market price, generate electricity in a nonpetrol fashion, and then more barrels are left over to sell on open market. it would be smart economics to generate electricty, and its own refining capacity, for iran. would the US not do the same? Or france? come to think of it...US and france both do. so that is one use for 6000 centrifuges. fissile grade enriched uraniumfor bombs is much more intensive to make. it is possible that iran wants functional bomb, as deterrent threat. i really doubt iran or iraq would ever engage in first strike with any weapon, since that would invite destruction. your thoughts? |

I don't know much about the technology involved. I wonder how many centrifuges UK, US, and France each operate. If my guess is that Iran's program is dwarfed by the US, UK, France, and Israel; then all the talk about Iran's malfeasance is contrived as we can tell by looking at the numbers. Why would Iran disclose anything if it had malicious intent to harm Israel or conquer or invite other nations into its sphere of influence. I can see something like that as a feint move militarily speaking, but he's also telling the international community where the sites are located. LMAO. Some military intelligence we have for farcical nonsense. |
