Cape Coral cops face more potential lawsuits
Posted: Oct 27, 2010 5:12 PM EDT Updated: Oct 27, 2010 10:34 PM EDT

By Christina Mora - bio | email | Twitter

CAPE CORAL: Two more people plan to sue the City of Cape Coral, accusing a cop of police brutality and other officers of a false arrest. One of the potential lawsuits involves the same officer who already cost the city tens of thousands of dollars in a similar case.

The same lawyer from Miami, who scored an $85,000 settlement for "police brutality" involving Cape Police Officer Michael Moore, has notified the city he will be filing two more similar cases.

Click the link in the "Related Stories" section at the right to read a previous article detailing abuse accusations about Officer Moore.

One of the cases involves 37-year-old Shawn Cleaver, who says he was unnecessarily beaten by Officer Moore at last year's Red White and Boom celebration.

The other involves 41-year-old Ronald Abt who says he was arrested for being drunk when he had a blood alcohol level of zero.
