A building demolition that went badly wrong has been caught on camera in Turkey.

The former factory, built in 1928, was scheduled to be demolished to make way for a shopping mall.

It was supposed to break up when it hit the ground, but instead it rolled over completely - ending up on its roof.

An eyewtiness said: "The building tumbled like a matchbox. It was really dangerous because it might have hit the nearby building, but the wall prevented it "

No-one was reported to have been injured.

:shocked:

"Rolling" on floor, laughing out loud !

the top of South Tower comes to mind...

one quarter of WTC7 scooped out comes to mind...

Both WTC 1 and WTC 2 come to my mind.

Another example of how the 'arrested' topple of WTC 1 makes so little sense.

"and the structure lost all of it's integrity at that point of time? ~ Shyam Sunder on CC79

:ouch:

Anyway, the caps of both towers did disintegrate pretty guickly...they couldn't topple...they just bursted into giant sheets, that were destroyed during the "landing"

Actually I meant both the towers, but I used images from the WTC 1 topple because its perspective was a closer match with the perspective of the demolition example.

Certainly the WTC 2 topple was even more pronounced.

when you watch it flip over look at the backside of the building. it looks like it was opened up on the back as well ...before initiating demo.

This has to be one of the best images showing a clear view of the South Tower, WTC 2's topple.

it is kind of funny how the gouged out section seems to be piled up in front of the building..a natural mound could exist as well....anyway.. when it tips over...the pile became a fulcrum for it to make the complete roll over...

I was reading a snippet that said something to the effect that it was a planned demo to fall off to the side..I wouldn't know that.

Another said the demo charges went off and nothing really happened...untill it started to tip...

It was a former flour factory... :hmmm:

We want to know:

1. Architects;
2. Engineers;
3. Builders; and
4. Contractors!

The only other building I know that would go down in one piece of detonated is this house, because of how my father built it--even in an earth-quake, it will go down in one solid piece.

We all know that this building was built much better than all of the WTC? :blink:

This is a perfect example of the conservation of angular momentum in action...
