Posts: 32 Group: Members Member #1,155 Joined: 05/05/09	WASHINGTON – Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor broke her ankle Monday morning in an airport stumble, then boarded her flight as scheduled and made the roughly hourlong trip to Washington to meet with senators who will vote on her confirmation. The federal judge, who has been keeping up a busy set of appointments on Capitol Hill, tripped at New York's LaGuardia Airport and suffered a small fracture to her right ankle, the White House said. She was keeping her six appointments with senators despite the injury. She entered the Capitol for a meeting with Sen. Charles E. Grassley, R-Iowa, on crutches, wearing a white cast covered at the foot with a black soft bootie. Asked how she was feeling, Sotomayor said, "I feel fine, thank you." Sotomayor has set a relentless pace since her Capitol Hill debut last week. By day's end Monday, she will have met with one-third of the Senate in just four days of visits. The White House is pressing for her quick confirmation, and Sotomayor wasn't pausing much for distractions, even her own trip-up. She even stopped at the White House Monday after her arrival in Washington, before heading to a local medical office for an X-ray. The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates treated and released her, according to a White House statement. Sotomayor drew praise Monday former first lady Laura Bush, who said she was pleased President Barack Obama nominated a woman for the Supreme Court. "I think she sounds like a very interesting and good nominee," Bush said of Sotomayor. She said on ABC's "Good Morning America" that, "as a woman, I'm proud that there might be another woman on the court. Humble Beginnings Growing up in a Puerto Rican family in the south Bronx of New York she's had a front row seat to hardship. Her father died when she was nine. She was raised by her hard-working single mom in the poor Bronxdale housing projects. She was also diagnosed with diabetes as a child, but found solace in books. Her mom had the only encyclopedia set in the projects. Education was extremely important to Sotomayor's mom, so she sent her to Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx, about 15 minutes north of the projects. It's a Roman Catholic high school complete with nuns and priests walking the halls, Mass in the morning and an opportunity for forgiveness of sin. so she grew up in the bronx ok but that still doesnt impress me or make her qualified. her mom had the only Encyclopedia in the bronx Go Eff yourself, did they go to every home there to research that fact what does that say about where she is from. great she had no dad either I wonder what ethics she grew up learning, hard life my ass. she went to a catholic high school where did she get the money for that living with a single mom? Far from a hard upbringing. Now the reason I truly hate this B1tch - LARAZA Gun control, she is a racist who will only be working for the NWO just as Obama. minorities in power are easier to control they get off on the power. the true minority out there is Free people with knowledge! I admit I Do not like this sotomayor but that is not racist I do get angry because she is a glorified racist and they make the bronx out to be a sespool that only one woman has come out of a success and that is BS. she is no better than any old rich white fat judge, paid for. so again I ask what did I say that was so racist and sexist? I ask with an open mind, I grew up is worse conditions than that chik, so that is where my anger comes from they are using her race as they did obama' race which means shit to me I look at what the person stands for votes for and represents.
