Why did the FBI only spend 5 days working one of the biggest crime scenes in their history after estimating it would take a month?

They took over working the crime scene on Sept. 21 and ended the work on the crime scene on Sept. 26.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 24, 2001 – The FBI assumed crime-scene jurisdiction at the Pentagon terrorist attack site Sept. 21 from the Arlington County (Va.) Fire Department, officials said.

FBI officials estimate the crime scene investigation would last about a month, Arlington Fire Chief Edward P. Plaugher said. He said he expects "additional remains will be discovered during the course of the FBI investigation" and mortuary specialists will remain on site to process them.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26, 2001 -- The FBI handed over Pentagon crash site management to the Army Military District of Washington at 7 a.m. today.

The transfer of responsibility marks the end of the FBI's crime scene investigation following the Sept. 11 terrorist attack against the Pentagon. MDW will oversee ongoing security operations around the damaged area of the building. FBI investigators will move their operations to the Pentagon's north parking lot and continue to sift through debris for more evidence.

Unbelievable, isn't it?

The site was a crime scene with a very large number of victims in the rubble. The section should have been roped off and all of the debris should have been carefully sifted through, in order to recover the remains, the parts of the plane and the rest of the evidence. None of this happened. Instead the Pentagon sent in the shovels and backhoes within the first day and they couldn't clean up the site quick enough, destroying all the evidence in the process. But the blatant disregard for the remains of the victims is the most appalling.

Must be a world record for working a major terrorist crime scene.

I mean on Sept 21 they estimated it would take a month and then on Sept. 26 they ended working the crime scene.

Unbelievable!
If you guys really think the FBI, TSA or any form of criminal or forensic investigation stopped after 5 days, you are a FOOL.
All remains except that of a small infant were ID'd. Either through known DNA sources or the process of elimination.
There is ZERO question as to what hit the Pentagon among thos who have honestly searched through the publicly available evidence.

Rumsfeld and the DOD were very proud of how fast they cleaned up the Pentagon.

FBI turns Pentagon crash site over to Army for rebuilding, renovation phase

September 28, 2001

WASHINGTON — The Federal Bureau of Investigation turned over formal responsibility for the Pentagon crash site to the U.S. Army Military District of Washington on Tuesday, Pentagon officials said.

The transfer gave employees an opportunity to begin retrieving some of their personal belongings from damaged offices, said Army Lt. Col. George Rhynedance, a Pentagon spokesman.

"What you’re seeing here is a transition from the sterile, sealed crime scene investigation into a renovation and rebuilding phase," Rhynedance said.

Small groups of Pentagon employees — mainly from the Army, whose offices received the bulk of the damage in the Sept. 11 attack — lined up in the courtyard on Tuesday, waiting to get into their abandoned offices to search for lost items.

"Some people left without even taking their wallets," Rhynedance said.

The FBI will continue to search for clues to the attack, but most of their focus will now be on sifting through the mountain of debris that firefighters and rescue personnel have transferred from the crash site to the Pentagon’s north parking lot, Rhynedance said.

Approximately 10,000 tons of debris has been removed during the rescue and recovery efforts at the Pentagon, according to officials at the Military District of Washington.

The Military District of Washington also has responsibility now for ongoing security operations around the damaged area.

Pentagon officials now begin the enormous job of repairing the damaged spaces, a task that will take at least two years and cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

In the mean time, the search continues for some of the 125 Pentagon employees and 64 aircraft passengers who were killed in the attack. Another woman initially survived, but later died of her injuries.

Army forensic scientists have positively identified 78 victims out of 118 remains that have been located in the wreckage and transferred to Dover Air Force Base, Del. "We still have hopes of finding more remains in some of the spaces," Rhynedance said.

The FBI estimated on Sept. 21 that the crime scene would take a month. They ended working the crime scene on Sept 26.

Since when is DNA used to ID a plane in a criminal investigation?

Also there is not a proper paper trail for the chain of evidence at the Pentagon.

So even the EPA agreed that the FBI ended working the crime scene on Sept 26.
