It is because the compression scheme used in creating that .mp4 file which is hosted by the Internet Archive deinterlaces the original video, and you can actually see the flash's beginning if you look for it, but the next frame is dropped. Do a frame by frame and you will see that every other frame is dropped. I do know that Dylan worked from the highest resolution videos available at the time, which in this case would have been a copy of the Naudet Brothers first DVD. Edit to add - I am currently downloading the high resolution 1 GB .mpg version of that clip from the Internet Archive and will post a screenshot after I capture it... The freely available clip which you saw is 177,380 Kb in size. Edited by JFK, May 22 2009, 09:55 AM.

Perhaps you should read up on file compression.

Yep. The flash "disappears" in certain copies because of field issues ... it technically only exists for half a frame in most copies, including the DVD ( it only showed up when I selected certain de-interlacing options ), so you need to make sure you're interpreting the footage properly. Also, in Final Cut, I was going off of the Associated Press' copy, since we paid to license that shot amongst others. It arrived on a DVCAM tape, copied straight to my hard drive, and bam, flash is there. |

OK, I did have to split that file to get it to play here because this computer does not have enough RAM. ( not to mention it is a POS HP ) Anyway it is not as pronounced but it is there... ![]() It is from this download... ![]() Sorry about the censorship, but it has to be that way for the Internet Archive's sake. Edit to add - I just tried it on an even older computer and it totally jumps over the flash section by probably 5 frames in each direction. Edited by JFK, May 22 2009, 04:16 PM.

I was just banned for posting in that thread. ![]() Apparently, they're so scared of me and my NPT debunking skills on other forums, that I had to be banned on sight. No warning or suspension first per the rules of the forum (even though I hadn't broken any forum rules). All new forum signups are manually checked by the admin. That's what we call a dictatorship of disinfo artists. At least I now know I've been debunking KT on other forums under his many socks because he keeps getting banned and has to keep changing names. |

oh, yeah and flying pigs did the demolition it's some kind of el. discharge or contact spark, nothing unusual nobody could fly the plane with that big precision, the plane would have problems to hit a 10m target and any charge on the plane would make exactly zero sense, it would only crush the nose, thus minimizing the impact "momentum" anyway, the exterior columns would be cut in any case, the KE of the plane was sufficient to cut the 30 or so exterior columns, deal with it |

None of the exterior columns were cut. There may be a couple/few that are questionable due to the angles of the photo's I've seen, but most, if not all of the exterior columns failed at the connectors and the steel columns themselves did not fail. |
